People I talk to who grew up there definitely hold more positive look at Yugoslavia over the independent countries today, for reasons such as Ethnic balance\respect and friendship, ability to travel in/out of country. Those among other privileges which very few (if any) other Communist countries held. What I can say is that it would have been better place to live than from 1980 onwards.
