I graduated a Satan, and didn't know they changed it. It figures it is a religious bigots!! We didn't think of it as evil, it wasn't offending anyone, just a cute little devil. What about the town's name "Devils Lake" is that next on their agenda?
The Stairway huh? haha it aint that bad, if you wanna see some pretty messed up places that would scare anyone ask anyone thats grown up there like myself i'll point yea in the right direction. for instance the elks club and the old post office.
I love how they interview the people that never go to devils lake high school events or have. Whats the mascot to them they were never sitting in the stands. Its really funny to see the cheerleaders pep after the name change. The hockey squad felt the same way. It was real fun going an entire season without a mascot. THANKS PASTOR DICK!

My father graduated as a Satan in Devil's Lake, and I graduated as a Demon in Phoenix. No harm done to either of us. However Christians continue to make themselves look bad by complaining about names like these. They did it in Phx in the 1980's, but the Greenway Demons name remains. Too bad about Devil's Lake--sorry - I mean God's Lake.

the stairway is very scary also and have attempted to go down them but the stairway starts to break away so i turned back. Devils Lake is the best!

Went to the high school and the name change was a huge dilemma! went to firebirds which is lame! ill remember devils lake as the SATANS forever.

Wow. Haha. What a big deal to change it from the name from satan to firebird.
Our school had to change our name because it was a specific name of Indians. So we ended up just calling our mascot the Red Raiders.
