@sebisalpha i think small air pockets were moving in the eyes because it was moving so much the blood vessels in the sclera might have just reacted to the libration.
I got shot in the eye with a bb gun in january and because of that ive got a cataract, im having an operation on friday to have it out. And wtf you on about the sun turns a gel inside your eye cloudy that's way off the sun can cause it but gel wtf? XD it's a lens not gel. Cut the eye open and use ultrasound to break the lens into little pieces and then they take them all out and put an artificial one in. The video put me off the operation though :/ ah well should be fun :)
Ok a cataract is where UV rays from the sun turn a gel in your eye cloudy and distorting vision, in this operation they have sliced the lens over the eye because the black bit the pupil is actually a hole, they got the cloudy fluid out and replaced it with a different gel, and the eye is the quickest healing part of the body there is and the most sensitive
after any type of trauma in the eye will make your own eye lens of the eye which is inside the eye dimaged so doctors will have to replace it - it costs 50 kD IN KUWAIT i have also done it after my rupture globe
yes u have to be awake during this operation because the eye shutsdown when you are asleep therefore when your awake your eyes are operating the surgeon needs to see where the eye has a problem when the patient can see through his eye the operation lasts for around 30 mins depending on what the situation is
Actually you CAN have this done under general anaesthetic - GA, (that means ASLEEP to the less intelligent amongst us). we do about 14 to 20 of these operations daily. Some are done under GA, others under local anaesthetic. It is painless and with excellent results...
Actually blackscorpion1968 my brother is a doctor, and i asked him im sure he knows what he is talking about. Im sure u are older than me as im 23 but my brother did do 9yrs at university have you?
It's the experience he gains AFTER university that makes a competent Doctor. You can't learn medicine from a text book. University only prepares him for what lies ahead in his chosen career. How many years practical experience has he had in a specialised field such as intra-ocular surgery? (I've had 18, so far - feels like forever!). We have done 11 cataracts this morning alone, 4 under general anaesthetic, the rest with the patient awake, under local anaesthetic, (topical eye drops), all good.
if you mean what liquid he keeps poring - on the eye he puts balanced salt solution, to keep it hydrated. In the eye he puts viscoelastic substance, that prevents a part of the eye from collapsing
A cataract is an opacity that develops in the crystalline lens of the eye or in its envelope. Early on in the development of age-related cataract the power of the crystalline lens may be increased, causing near-sightedness (myopia), and the gradual yellowing and opacification of the lens may reduce the perception of blue colours.
Thank you for posting this! I find out this Thursday (Aug 30/07) when I have my first one done...got cataracts 20 years before most people! Left one should be done Oct 2007..then if all goes well..the right one!
cataract is a "clouding" of the lens in your eye. Cataract operation is a tiny incision is made in the eye. Through this incision, the surgeon inserts an instrument, about the size of a pen tip, this washes away your cloudy lens, or an ultrasonic instrument that breaks up and gently removes your cloudy lens.Once the clouded lens has been removed, next step is replacing it with an implant of a artificial lens that will do the work of your own lens.
Cant you people read? Cataract Eye Operation. Cataracts are what you get when you squeeze too hard while going to the loo and the black part of your eye ball pops out and they gotta pop it and fix it up.
