Would recommend Tory to anyone! Thats my uncle singing! I've been out there a few times and am in love with the place-would advise anyone who wants a great weekend to head for Tory!
Still worth a visit - natural beauty special and people are very nice. Tory people have a reputation of being laid back and that is part of their charm - nobody trying to sell u a good r service. But that is also their downfall. Still a special place and worth a try... enjoy
Was on Tory in 1988. Went back in 2003 - new pier and 2 much mod development includ st lighting and paths - spoiled!cafe poor quality food including frozen fish even though the waters around the Isle are teeming with fish. Satelite TV dishes everywhere - stayed in a B+B which was poor quality and no bfast was served??????? New pier would not look out of place in big city - there was a section at the back of the Island that was merely a dump for old household goods.
@katievhoneychurch Not really, it comes from the 17th century or before and is called sean nos meaning old tradition. The scales, the use of B flat its completely different from anything in the middle east. You can sing it with lots of improvisation.

no no no no.... celts and hindus has a shared Indo European origin. Modern Indian mythology and singing is very alike to Irish
