  • AWESOME i wanna go to berklee and play this

  • Yeah, this is good. I love this song. It's one of the original songs that pushed me towards getting into playing music (guitar). Are you also writing + playing original music with a band?

Love to see / hear that, too.

  • Too stiff aha, otherwise good!

  • Could someone explain to me why is this song a Polyrhythm?

It can be counted on 4/4 right ?

  • @riqyl32 if the polyrhythm is in wtf-timesignature you want on 4/4, it for sure can be counted as 4/4. Polyrhythm means you have to different time signatures playing toghether

  • @Theguywhoplaysguitar Yeah, that's true, but there is no other time signature played "over" the 4/4.

It is just that the accents appear on unusual places. On the main riff she plays a basic beat with the snare on 3 n'half instead of 3 in the first measure, then on the second measure the snare is on 3 and the bass drum is on 2,5, and on the final measure she follows the guitars who play 2 dotted quarters and a qurter.

I don't normally obsess on songs so much, but that's king crimson....

  • @riqyl32 ok, I didn't even listened to the whole thing, I just answered you to tell you a song can be polyrhythmik and still be counted on 4/4xDD ok, no. I still haven't heard the entire song, but the beginning doesn't seems polyrhythmic to me at all, has some weird timings, but that's all^^

  • I regret anyhting I ever said about girl drummers

  • It's alright, you need to be more loose, more loud.

  • <3 rad...

  • not bad at all, u made some adds that were ok. maybe at 4:54 u went too far with speed cause i think thats the best rythmical nexus with the next riff of the song. but, as i said, not bad at all.

  • love this

  • Not bad

  • DAMN! NICE polyrhythms

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • wait did u make it in man?

  • fuck, why don't you put a new video playng this song? by this time i supose you improve the song, don't you?

  • @2431vincent well yeah i think i've gotten much better by now but i don't have the equipment to record drum videos at my house, this was filmed at a studio

  • GREAT!!!:)

  • i think i'm falling in love!

  • I fell in fucking love with you <3

  • sick fucking skill and made props on the difficult song! We should facebook! haha

  • I think some people on here are being unfairly critical, saying you need play the song "this way" with "this type" of feel. I have several live versions of this song from Crimson, with performances from all three drummers: Giles, Wallace, and Bruford. Speaking from listening experience, all three of these guys played this song differently, and their approach varied with each live performance. My advice is to just experiment and choose the style that works for you.

  • @pyroseed13 exactly!! and by no means do i feel like i could do ANY original king crimson song justice, but i try. :))

  • oh this is awesome!!!! it totally warms my heart to see someone as young as yourself rocking out to king crimson!!!! (well i'm youngish too i guess, i was born 10+ years after this song came out.) and a girl too!!!!!!! good for you, keep rocking.

  • Amazing, you rock'd it! Definitely not an easy song to cover on drums, but you went for it; BiG Ups girl~

p.s. Apparently an angry EX-boy/girlfriend voted DISLIKE 4 times... ignore them and keep jammin~

  • @VVhiteWidoVV420 hahaha for real! thank youu! :)

  • @MuffinEatsYou You're vvelcome. =)

  • I respect ANYONE that can play this song ALL the way through :) i was 16 when i started playing this one. You got the basics covered but you leave out all the little stuff that makes the song what it is :) go back and listen to the crashes and chokes you are leaving out. Also you have to play military and not match grip to play your part note for note. Good work so far :)

  • Awesome, I love King Crimson, and you play it well.

  • This isn't bad at all. I mean you're not playing the exact part so it's more of your rendition, but you play really well.

  • nice work, sounds awesome

  • Comment removed

  • haha ok, wow!!! are you as a platonic love, is the best I've seen, my respects ;D

  • very good!!!!!!! do u have a drum tab or score???

What do you play from minute 2:00 to 2:16!!!

    Many thanks!!

  • wow!!!eres como un amor platonico!!!!!:Des el mejor cover que eh visto

  • @ManeHappiness

solo hablo un poco espanol, no entiendo =(

  • @MuffinEatsYou He said: you are my platonic love, is the best cover and seen.

    Greetings from mexico, Good job.

  • Do you play guitar too!

  • @TheDrumHero01

yeah i do, i've actually been playing guitar for much longer than i have drums, but i'm applying to berklee with drums.

  • @MuffinEatsYou You´re really good at both

  • Love it when you play and stare at the camera!

    Gr8t drumming btw!

  • wuts with that bass drums?

  • yur amazing at drums!

  • i think i love you....

  • Good job. any KC is hard to play so mistakes are made but its still great!

  • I liked it.

A little behind the beat at times, and I would definitely cop some more licks off the recording.

But all in all... good job!

ps - I love King Crimson!

  • congrats great drummin, I think the toms are a little bit out of tune maybe by fixin'em you could have a better sound, what about the bass drum, never seen it before, marry me...

  • Nice! But I do have to agree with @damanwithdaskills. He was giving constructive critisism. If you put a video up it's inevitable to not get advice or put down. If you don't want advice disable comments. Good performance though!

  • @redhotwheeldon thannkks. i just didnt like how he went on and on and on, i dont mind getting criticism at all but he didn't even give me specifics, and said my performance was "sad".

  • @MuffinEatsYou Yes i agree he went a little too far :P i think the idea was to be constructive though he said a few uncalled for things.

  • i wouldn't say its awful but i kinda agree with daman....

    wait for the dislikes....

  • @thisistides97 its all good, i tried my best. i think i might put up a newer cover of this song to see my improvement

  • great job damanwithdaskillz is a douchebag

  • @Nlyles34 yay thank you, and i know!!! he was so mean. i try my best. how dare anyone call my performance "sad". gr!!! thank you though.

  • *Obligitory comment for girl musician that involves compliment of the performance and appearance of the performer in question*

  • @MoarOfTehRawkege lol i dont know how to feel about that.

  • I'm glad you'll keep trying, that's what makes people get better, and become better musicians, you have talent, it just needs refining, I'll leave now, sorry I sounded like an asshole, I was having a bad day, but that's no excuse, I'll leave you alone, just keep pushing yourself and I'm sure you'll go very far

  • I heard you like Yes though, and Yes is one of my favorite bands, so I give you +100 rep regardless of my previous comment for that, do you have a video of you playing Heart of the Sunrise? Bill Bruford is my fav drummer next to Steve Gadd. Look, I"m sorry if I was a little harsh in my previous comments, it's just sad to see this song played with such little emotion and groove, I'm sure you have much better displays of your talent, that's all.

  • last thing, your playing style seems much more akin to one which would be good at Dream Theater songs.

  • Alright, I'm not gonna be mean, or I'll try. This rendition of one of my favorite drumming songs is just awful. It's not you, it's just this song is not FOR you. Your playing is accurate and precise, and you have speed and rolls, but it's, how should I say, droll? Average? umm...most drummers play like that? You lack the FEELING and emotion in your playing that is necessary for this song. You simplify things in it to make it precise, when it should be oddtime and free, play with more emotion

  • also, I can't really see your hands so I can't judge technique, but from this angle, your good, but not particularly special. Your playing matches more of a rock drummer than a jazzy style, which is what this song centers around. Also, you seem to get rid of a lot of the swing beats and rides in favor of more standard rhythms, another no no for this song. And you didn't play the end part! That's where you freestyle and display your emotion and style. This performance is just lacking

  • @damanwithdaskillz Don't tell me I don't have emotion in my playing, because I do. I'm just a little camera shy. And you're right, my jazz drumming isn't great, but I'm working on it. Don't call my performance "sad", because even though I don't think it's the best ever, I'm happy I got as close as I did and I'll keep pushing to make it better.

  • @damanwithdaskillz lol back off my video! haha. I tried my hardest. I'll get better with more time. GOOO AWWAAYYY!!!! haha

  • @damanwithdaskillz you're an asshole, this was great, and showed a ton of skill and musicianship

  • WHOA!

  • amazing, not a lot of people are good enough to be abe to do king crimson well (including me) and you nailed it. If they don't accept you that is a big loss, amazing job.

  • @xxbss4lifexx aw thank youuu! and i dont think i nailed it, but i did my best. =) and im applying for full on college there in a couple months, hopefully ill get in!

  • It's good to see more drummers...i'm so tired of bad guitarist's asking me what an f chord is....

  • couldn't really blame you on the end. not really a solid time structure. i enjoyed watching this!

  • Hey! Nice job! Not everyone plays King Crimson! I'm applying to the Fall 2011 for the scholarship. I've gotten in already, but alas, not a good package. Not stopping me, and shouldn't stop you!! This was great! Good pocket.

  • @GlitchHalo thanks! and thats super sick, i'm applying for fall 2011 too. did you audition early or something? im scared i wont get in though..haha

  • omg a girl playing my favorite bruford drum riffs and playing it fuckin sick, MARRY ME!! lol

  • I'm not trying to troll, but that was really awful. I'm sorry.

  • whatta cool background

  • I LOVE YOU!

  • hey this was a great job! great choice for an audition. i need to start applying to schools and i really have no idea what i should do. were you accepted into the program you were trying to get into. and also, if you dont mind me doing this, i think i might do this song. in terms of style its relatively simple but its technically difficult so i feel like that has to count for something.

  • NOW DO A COVER FOR ABSU'S STONE OF DESTINY!!

  • youre fucking amazing

  • You're very talented, I must say. I'm amazed by both your style and taste ! 5 points

  • yeah when you play the hi hat play it a little bit tighter

  • you gotta be kidding me! well done girl

  • Absolutely great. May I give some advice? You can play the hi hat with your foot during the middle 6/8 jam to push the rhythm. This will allow you to be freer and still keep a pulse. Allow some of those left hand hi hat strikes are crisper. (open and closed faster with less "slosh.") Not being critical. You're so good I'm sure you understand. Most drummers here are jokers. Nice job.

  • @plangentmusic Yay thank you! I really do appreciate the advice. I'll try it out when I'm jamming this song next time.

  • Better than most covers on YouTube, but I haven't seen one video that comes really close

  • GADAYYUM GIRL! YOUR GETTIN DOWN.

  • Heart of the sunrise is my favorite Yes song, i'd like to see you playing it. You have a great talent, keep going

  • Pffft.. you could play better than that piece!

  • WOW!!! I am completely impressed. A 17 year old girl playing King Crimson on the drums and playing it VERY WELL, no matter what the shaolinwannabe said. How long have you been playing drums? Keep playing. Can you play any Bill Bruford Yes songs?

  • @SpiritualNotReligion thank you! and i love to play yes! heart of the sunrise is my jam.

  • @shaolinkungfu666 thanks, but i wasn't trying to play it note for note. I understand that there still are problems with my cover, and I'm willing to accept constructive criticism, but saying that i played it "wrong. completely" and that i "screwed up" and accented in "all the wrong places" doesn't help me improve so much, and is frankly a little rude. and i don't think berklee (2 ee's) was looking for a note for note cover necessarily. so yeah, thankkks. =)

  • @MuffinEatsYou hey now, don't get me wrong, you were good. perhaps my language was a bit harsh, but all i'm saying is that they're looking for a cover and not an interpretation. what do you think they would do if you improvis3ed on the black page? oh, and i know it's 2 e's. typing with one hand, eating a sandwich, it's a youtube comment, shit happens.

  • amazing :D

    teach me P:

  • awesome

  • Beatifull girl, playing progresive rock, waw...THE BEST COMBINATION ,BEST WISHES

  • Actually, I found out recently that I got a partial scholarship. But I'm going to an NYU program instead cause it's a little cheaper.

  • great great job. you should totally cover King Crimson's Level Five off The Power to Believe.

  • awesome song...by the way im in the 5 week summer performance too ;)

  • that's one serious set up you got there O____o king crimson's awesome. we find out in april, right?

  • Haha I WISH it was mine, I recorded these at my mom's friend's studio.

I think it's march 15, and then if you get the scholarship you have to let them know by april... I might be wrong though.

So I guess you're applying too?

  • :O... I love you so much

  • I love her too =O

  • for your city music audition? or are you just auditioning for a straight up scholarship?

  • I'm applying for a full scholarship to the "rock workshop" or something in the 5 week summer program.

  • oh my god the snare part at 4:12 looks diffficult.

  • when i first listened to it thats what i thought too, but it's just a matter of memorizing the song pretty much =)

  • i mean, i really suggest playing with some intensity. U look very bored and quite frankly uncaring behind that drum set. throw some of your heart into it if u wanna make it into Berklee

  • I was concentrating, I definitely wasn't bored. But thanks for your feedback. =)

  • ur welcome. how rude of me, i forgot to tell u it was good drumming regardless

  • nice. though you should've played closer to the mic, was kinda hard to hear the drums properly

you should have a go at 'la villa strangiato' or 'YYZ' both by Rush if you wanna become a drumming god

  • Oh my motherfucking god! :o

    This is awesome!

  • I'm not even going to preface this with "for a girl" That was really fuckin' great.

  • interesting bass drum muffling

  • It's all I had! =(

  • Wow you are awesome, this amazes me!

  • do you need a double foot peddal for this song?

  • No, I just had mine on the kit cause I also recorded another song that needed it.

  • sounds good!

  • Tasty, like lark's tongues in aspic! You got chops, lah!

  • Ur so awesome at drums!!!!!!!
