I just typed 132, but when it wants to make sure I'm not a bot, and makes me do it again, the image doesn't load straight away yet the timer counts down, so I lose time and can't ever replicate it. Maybe I'll post a video response.

@velikopakovanje Like I said, I don't play TypeRacer, but 134 wpm is not thát fenomenal amongst RPGers... I mean sure, 95% of the people type slower and it's still an accomplishment, but I actually know quite a few people who can type around 140 wpm.

By the way, judging by the sound, it seems like you have an old keyboard with big keys.. (or you're bashing it). You might want to get a new one with smaller keys like those on a laptop.

@StlyDutch From your comment I can see that you're not experienced typist. First of all, most of really, really fast typists use, like you said, "old and loud keyboards". Laptop is not the best option for fast typing. Second, what are connections between RPG and fast typing?

@velikopakovanje I was of course talking from my own experience. I can type a shitload faster on my own laptop, than my dads old keyboard. And that's not just because I spend more time behind my laptop, I spend about equal amounts of time behind them. Second, the connection is that in the kind of RPG that I play, you need to type as fast as you can to defend yourself (or attack). This rpg isn't forum based like most, it's live and whoever types faster has a great advantage.

Man, how do you type so accurately? My top speed is 104 WPM, but I have this problem where I either mix up two letters or I accidentally roll my finger onto another letter. It's annoying since by the looks of it, I think I could type your speed if I had the correct accuracy. Unfortunately, I have to slow down to type super accurately and only go like 85wpm.

let's be honest here, it's taken you years to get to this level. It would take a year of practice to get to 80 wpm

@BarriosGroupie I agree with you. From 0 - 80 wpm you'll need 1 year, in next year you can go to 100 wpm...and then it's the question how far will you go. Some people can go further, some can't.

@butters742 If you use your old technique for typing (your own technique) you'll be able to type 70-80 wpm in average, but if you start to learn how to type on the regular way you'll be able to type 100 wpm in average. You're still a beginner so it wouldn't be bad for you if you started to type with all your fingers.

now im trying to type without looking down. which is a bit of a set back. but im getting better. and 100 wpm sounds like it would be a nice goal.

I have tried both QWERTY and Dvorak keyboards and I found QWERTY easier. So my final verdict... Is that it's a preference thing... Some people prefer QWERTY, some people prefer Dvorak.. I find qwerty easier and smoother.. Dvorak isn't my thing.

You must practice to type with 9/10 fingers and in time you will be much faster. Qwerty or Dvorak? Most typists are Qwerty users, including me, but I know a few guys who type on Dvorak, but the difference is that Dvorak is more comfort for wrests and fingers and its better for longer typing, but when you are used to the Qwerty you can type long with good speed also. How do you type, how many fingers do you use? Whats your current layout?

Don't give up, just keep practicing. Long time ago I was at 70 wpm, but now it's much, much faster and better. :-)

You can also practice typing on facebook. Just type "Typing Maniac" in search line and start to type.

i have been practising since today. i did the typeracer test today and got 41 wpm, 171 cpm with an accuracy of 98%.i really do type relatively fast but i usually look down at the keyboard. i want to be able to touch type.

Well, I learnt to type using one program that requres DOS but I don't know the name of it. I learnt to type 10 years ago. All you need to do is to practice 1 hour per day, step by step using some program for typing and I believe that in 2 months you'll be able to type at least 50 words per minute. 1 word = 5 characters including space. Well you could gain the fast-typing ability by using the computer frequently & typing the websites manually, your typing speed slowly increase as time comes & these happened to me, I don't know my exact typing speed but I think my typing speed is faster than an average the speed of an average person, also it could be instinctive typing where think of a word & you type where you are very familiar where the keys are.

The "secret" to fast typing is pressing two keys "almost" at the same time, except in the correct order. That's what I found to be the best. My new best is 143 wpm.

Your correct about pressing two keys almost simultaneously, you should just have good-timing at pressing the correct keys & you should also be very familiar with the positions of the letters, numbers & symbols in the keyboard, it really helps you in increasing your typing speed

Typist is someone who types fast. :) Professional typist type for money, and I'm not that, but I type 2x faster than pro-typist. Everything above 400 + cpm is professional typing.

:-) Well, I'm typing for 10 years, but I'm practicing for about 1 year seriously! I just know that the best typists are piano players (and I'm the piano player) (-_-) but if you learn long enough you're going to be able to type as fast as I type.
