Phantasy Star Portable [PSP] Gameplay and ....Rant

The problem was PSP focused on GRAPHICS (mainly) and misregarded online play because the machine could do great games +online, thats why I love NDS so much more, games could be graphically lower but you always get online (no mean to disrespect anyone, only portraying the truth)

This game is multi-player via ad-hoc, but is this mode of play relevant to the storyline or is it simply a non-relevant aspect of the game where all you do is gain experience or items for your own game? I'd like to know more before I consider purchasing. I'm especially interested in ad-hoc connectivity being an option, but I would also like room for individual play.

just get Xlink-kai and a good tutorial and you can play every psp game online with only a usb cable. work fine with me and my friend ^^

just played the demo, seems like a really nice game engine for portable. About online, it's probably just as much SEGA not Sony... Sony didn't make the game and all version of PSP only offer wireless-b which is pretty damn slow. Maybe the Nintendo games are so lame that it doesn't take much to run them via online.

Actually they do have an online version. Its called Phantasy Star Universe. Not a psp game, buts its still phantasy star and its online. - Is it worth it? Im not sure. I heard its ok, but the levels get boring since they just repeat everything and just add tougher monsters. - not sure if thats right but w.e.

Moaning about the PSP not having online play... yes this really sucks but if you play with four players who are sat next t you the host lags like f*ck so thats maybe a reason for not having it online, MAJOR lag issues. SO quit complaining this is PHANTASY STAR after all :-D

lol Even without online play it still lags sometimes it mostly seems to be when you have a party of 4 I don't any lag when we play as a party of 3 but if we hit a party of 4 it lags like hell >.>

It lags, but only on the host because the host's psp does all the extra processing and coordinating of 4 people's consoles that comes with co-op. If sega would add infrastructure mode, their own servers would handle the coordination of all the players' actions.

If only....

It seems like many psp games would do alot better if online play was included.

To defeat the Giant Annoying Boss in the desert..... You can use the Laser gun if your a Ranger Class "Goto First-Person" By using the select button. Then fire like crazy..... Or just use Raising Strike sword tech, when he lands to the ground.....Do it continuously til the bastard's dead.

so like im lvl 18 and i have rising strike that is like 22 how do i change my skill attack, i tried but it says that it cant find other even though i have some other skills. and i changed my class to fightmaster just now do i get new skill attacks doesnt seem though

In order to change skills....Do like you would equiping a weapon before adding it to the panel. Goto "Link Weapon" it's the second option. Then choose your skill for a One-Handed, Two-Handed, Double Swords, Lance, and et cetra.....

Yeah, but it was more for people who had actually played FF7 before.

I enjoyed the game...up to the point where I had to fight Sephiroth on that big thing that he knocks you off of.

I kept dying because I was always caught in an action and not quick enough to heal when he did the spell that left you with 1 hp.

Whenever I'd try again. I'd have to go thrue the 5 minute cutscene alllll over again.

this is the best game out for the psp so far atleast for me it is. lvl90 beast male fighmaster lv10 gunmaster lv 10 n masterforce lv 6, US version is good but JP version has downloads so that sucks for us.

I got the US version and I'm lvl 32 Beast, I can confidently say that this is one of the best PSP games you can get if you like its genre. Only other game I felt this good about was Monster Hunter, which I also highly recommend.

heres why theres no wifi . i set up a matc with 4 people hd hoc. everyone ran fine...except me the host. i lagged like a motherfucker. and that was hd -hoc.

thats wierd I've played 4p on ad hoc without Xlink Kai or PS3 just local ad hoc and I didn't lag.

I've also played it ad hoc using Xlink Kai and with 4p I got minor lags a few times some major but minor mostly.

also, they do not necessarily ned to set up expensive servers. P2P online works just as good.

Finish the 2nd story mode quest and after you beat it you should be able to change types in the HQ it mostly costs like 500 to change.

If you mean change name then you would have to remake character.

Phantasy Star Zero is based around Phantasy Star Online, so that makes sense. But Phantasy Star Portable is based around Phantasy Star Universe which was much more story-driven and designed for small groups and single player. Yes, PSU had online slapped on but it still wasn't designed for mass-online.

Also, SEGA published this game, not Sony. So blame SEGA instead.

Phantasy Star Zero uses Nintendo's universal online system for online gameplay. Meaning that every online game is focused around the same server.

Sony doesn't have that, and would have to set up dedicated servers for online gameplay.

Xlink Kai and Ad-Hoc serve the exact same purpose: connecting you to people throughout the world to play together. Both of which are easy to use if you have decent comprehension skills and are absolutely free to use.

BTW, PS:P retails for around $40. Not $50.

Personally this is why I still say the blame should be on Sony and not SEGA. Hell I would pay just like my xbox live account to play online.

As for Xlink Kai and Adhoc, not many do know how to get Xlink Kai working so not that many can play, and the adhoc I'm not gonna spend about 400 just I can play online.
