Sure she's had ballet training and therefore could be considered ballerina...however whether she is a good ballerina is debateable. To me, she is lacking in her characterizations, there isn't much expression other than a pretty face, and her technique is clumsy. This is more entertainment (performance) and less ballet (art).
Not a ballerina? She was one of the leading ballerinas in Russia in the 1990s and early 2000s, dancing as prima ballerina with the Mariinsky and Bolshoi Ballets, which are two of the most respected ballet companies in the world. In addition to her recitals in London, Paris, Lausanne, New York and others, she dances as prima ballerina with the Grigorovich Ballet, founded by the legendary Yury Grigorovich, who indeed regards her a Ballerina very much. She's also a Prix Benois de la Danse laureate.
Was? Yes, she was a ballerina, but she's very much a ballerina nowadays as well. She has been dancing as prima ballerina with the Yury Grigorovich Ballet since 2004, including leading roles in "Swan Lake" and "La Bayadère" at the Mariinsky Theatre last year, in addition to other prima ballerina performances all around Russia. So, why try to put down a gifted and beautiful ballerina? One must be very venomous or just ignorant. Or both.
Nobody is trying to put her down. Everybody just expresses what he or she thinks. And it's not up to you to tell other people what to say about her "giftedness". I know much about ballet, and I have watched many performances of really talented ballerinas in person. And I don't find Volochkova talented.
I'm not telling anyone what to say about her. I've only said that she's a ballerina as it's a fact by international standards. And, unfortunately, some are trying to put her down.
Yes, she IS a ballerina, but whether she is a good or a bad one is a matter of personal taste, experience in ballet, a degree of aesthetic developement etc. I do find her a very beautiful woman when she was younger. I do find her very active in ballet as she makes all those ballet videos. But I really can't call her an outstanding ballerina. And I don't put her down. No cruel intentions from my part. I just say what I see.
You are trying to have a dispute about something that doesn't exist.
One said she's not a ballerina and I just said yes she is and told the facts. That's it.
But then you came along out of nowhere saying "it's not up to you to tell other people what to say about her", which I certainly haven't done. And now you are trying to give an impression that somehow I don't agree with the fact that whether one's a good or bad ballerina is a matter of personal taste, experience in ballet etc.
Many people think she is fat but I don't see it I can't tell with what she is wearing

why the hell are you saying that she is too fat?
you need to have a lot of muscle to do ballet
and it's not a question of weight but a question of force and equilibre.

are you serious? she's way too fat for ballerina

No she's not. Your statement is ridiculous. She's large-sized for a ballerina, yes, but certainly not fat in any way.

Volochkova is so unemotional ballerina. I get bored to look at her for a 5 minutes.
