@juplacen, the stock GTR has twin turbo, you must be new member. It's slower than the BMW M5 station wagon. You need to add about ~500 hp worth of mods to just to keep up with a 806hp Koengisegg. GTR is very inefficient vehicle.. Even a 540hp Lambo LP550 will put a couple of full size extra long train length, or about 1 and 1/2 soccer field on the GTR from 100~ 190'ish. I can even add a few little mods on my Volvo station wagon to keep up with GTR.. GTR is slow from rolling speeds.

@plodej, if both cars started at 90 mph, the Ferrari would pull on the GTR by a good soccer field and half. That is a humongous difference. Heck, even a lightly modded BMW M5 station wagon beats the GTR.. Balboni LP550 will also put a soccer field and half + additional 2~ 2/12 bus lengths on the GTR from 90 mph roll to 190+. Balboni LP550 = Italia 458 > LP560 = 599GTB

This was uploaded in 2009, the 09 model GTR was the slowest model reaching 60 MPH in upwards of 4.0 seconds. The new GTR can reach 60 in 3.0 seconds. Not to mention, RWD cars have a slight advantage in upper end power, add also that the Ferrari is significantly more powerful, then you have what appears to be "GTR Getting Smoked" The new GTR would kill the Ferrari from a standstill, and would be more of a challenge at high speed rolling start.

@steven4rmnewyork I have rode it both actually. And lies? When in the GTR we went pedal to the floor, after around 65 I noticed the pace of it declining. None the less it was still accelerating, just a bit slower than at first. In the 599 It maintained it pretty well until it reached about 140, then it's pace started slowing a bit. And these aren't lies, these are personal observations.

The reason why a car is a supercar, is because its built with high quality material inside and out without worrying about what the final MSRP is gonna be. Not too mention, most of them are hand built, which adds even more to the price tag compared to a car thats built by robots.

@sw1000xg In Japan, people don't care about straightline speed. All cars have limiters at 180km(110mph). So, they never really design their car for high speed racing.
To do that they would need to lose some of its fat ass or add a lot of power. The AWD loses it's advantage and the DCT can't make up much more time up that high. If that's what you care about, buy the GTR and put an aftermarket kit on it for hennessey or something like the P700. There are a lot of companies that do it, with a few hundred more HP it will have the power to keep going.
well you are right but the driver skill factor will be highly important too which most of this drivers are ordinary and the result wont be base on car ability but the drivers skill :)
@baqibillah no, its not the primary measure of the quickness of a car- its mostly a measure of the drivers ability to take off well. (rwd) so take 4wd grip and computerized launch out of it with a rolling start, and you delete that variable, therefor properly establishing which car is truly faster in a strait line via horsepower/gearing/weight/ect.
@TheNondiscriminatory 0-60 and 1/4 mile is the standard measure to compare between cars. Anything else like in this video is hard to compare. How do you back up your claim with numbers? Yes, I think AWD and Launch Control are brilliant. You harness all the power of the car for take off. A smokin' tire is a good spectacle not a good technology.

For most cars, getting the shifts right, and getting to the power to the ground at low speeds, is an effort for the driver. At higher speeds, the influence of driver skill is reduced, and the race becomes more a matter of power, gearing, aerodynamics, and weight.

Actually the more "tuned up" version is the 599GTO and even the 599xx. So the 599gtb is the basic version of the Ferrari 599 classes.

Why would anybody take a cheeply made GTR over a beautifully hand-made racing supercar that will make you smile none stop.
I am a huge ferrari fan and it hurts me when people say bad thinks about them.
Ferrari have been making racing cars since 1929 and have dominated racing events across the board since.
Ferrari are the worlds most delected cars. I think people should look more into a company before thay disrespect it

And cost about £30,000,000.

@namybot The LFA is more of an experiment for Toyota, since it's their first supercar. They aren't actually making any money from it. I agree it is overpriced, but it did beat the Ferrari 599 in C&D comparison test.

The video shows M5 station wagon (lightly modded) taking on the GTR. it just shows how weak the GTR is from rolling speeds. GTR is only good from dig. It's really inefficient for the given hp.

@xkg20t besides, the GTR is a V6 whereas this cars are V10 (M5) and V12 (599) and GTR keeps up with these oponents and is better in track that most of them, you see, GTR beat almost each V6 car in the world and these kind of expensive oponents are needed to beat the GTR. Yet the GTR is a lot cheaper than these.

Racing at the road course circuits are found in video games and in the dreams.. not realistic. This makes Ferrari more use on the road. Almost any european cars (including bmw station wagon) beats the GTR from highway speeds. This is the biggest shame for Nissan. It's got all that hype but is slower than a station wagon..$350k is optional, but many other cheaper cars beat GTR too.

@plodej, if both cars started at 90 mph, the Ferrari would pull on the GTR by a good soccer field and half. That is a humongous difference. Heck, even a lightly modded BMW M5 station wagon beats the GTR.. Balboni LP550 will also put a soccer field and half + additional 2~ 2/12 bus lengths on the GTR from 90 mph roll to 190+. Balboni LP550 = Italia 458 > LP560 = 599GTB

This was uploaded in 2009, the 09 model GTR was the slowest model reaching 60 MPH in upwards of 4.0 seconds. The new GTR can reach 60 in 3.0 seconds. Not to mention, RWD cars have a slight advantage in upper end power, add also that the Ferrari is significantly more powerful, then you have what appears to be "GTR Getting Smoked" The new GTR would kill the Ferrari from a standstill, and would be more of a challenge at high speed rolling start.

@steven4rmnewyork I have rode it both actually. And lies? When in the GTR we went pedal to the floor, after around 65 I noticed the pace of it declining. None the less it was still accelerating, just a bit slower than at first. In the 599 It maintained it pretty well until it reached about 140, then it's pace started slowing a bit. And these aren't lies, these are personal observations.

The reason why a car is a supercar, is because its built with high quality material inside and out without worrying about what the final MSRP is gonna be. Not too mention, most of them are hand built, which adds even more to the price tag compared to a car thats built by robots.

@Defectordrunkzone i agree but i have a 246 dino original, 1999 360 modena, 308, and had a 599 but trading it in for a 458, owned an F40 at one point but it wasn't as pleasant for what it was after driving the F50gt so it was sold, but I'm kind of always a ferrari person, but thats why i got the 599 and getting the 458, they are fun to drive and suiting. and later on you might get a return. both the gtr and 599 are badass machines though.

I really hope after the 2012 GTR they stop making it better on the track (where most people never go) And improve the straightline speed of the R35... I'm a big fan of the GTR (to me it's the best supercar for £70-150K ) But 0-150mph needs improving big time!!!

@sw1000xg In Japan, people don't care about straightline speed. All cars have limiters at 180km(110mph). So, they never really design their car for high speed racing.

To do that they would need to lose some of its fat ass or add a lot of power. The AWD loses it's advantage and the DCT can't make up much more time up that high. If that's what you care about, buy the GTR and put an aftermarket kit on it for hennessey or something like the P700. There are a lot of companies that do it, with a few hundred more HP it will have the power to keep going.

(rwd) so take 4wd grip and computerized launch out of it with a rolling start, and you delete that variable, therefor properly establishing which car is truly faster in a strait line via horsepower/gearing/weight/ect.

Yes, I think AWD and Launch Control are brilliant. You harness all the power of the car for take off. A smokin' tire is a good spectacle not a good technology.

@baqibillah I'm surprised you haven't gotten an answer, yet. It was mentioned by Gustav that if you do rolling starts, it becomes more a measure of the car, instead of the driver. For most cars, getting the shifts right, and getting to the power to the ground at low speeds, is an effort for the driver. At higher speeds, the influence of driver skill is reduced, and the race becomes more a matter of power, gearing, aerodynamics, and weight.

What's the rolling stats for a GTB compared to Gallardo? These are all fuzzy logic. I would stick to the method proven by the all the professionals and racers, 0-60, 1/4 mile and lap time. You don't need a video to compare cars, numbers are good enough.
