  • 76 350R IN MINE LEGO

  • Hmm, never seen a g body with a suped up v6...... That rev ...... Gotta drop a 305 or 350 in it...

  • i have a 82 regal with a 252 4bbl v6 do you know where i can get headers for it?

  • actually isnt that the 229 not 231? being distributor is in front (buick not chevy) my 81 malibu sounded the same way with straight pipes no cat or muff. with no work at all done to the motor!

  • @RJC454

This is definitely the buick v6 231, the 229 is a chevy and would have the distributor in the rear. The 229 is basically a chevy 305 minus 2 cylinders.

  • help for rochester dualjet 210 carburetor for chevrolet malibu 1981, engine 231 v6

    Thank

  • Sweet! Think it's feasible as an ongoing project for a college student? I still got a running 3.8 cutlass out in the driveway and currently drive a series 2 3800 and really dont wanna give up the v6 buick. Im moving away and want to buy a v6 Regal to build

  • sounds good and looks good in primer

  • Nice to see someone else taking the time with a 231 v6 Sounds bad ass. Tell me what you think about mine.

  • That's cleannn

  • same car as i just got on sat. picked it up for 200 bucks haha. needs minor tranny work and the lug studs are broken and stripped...bout a months work and it'll be on the road.

  • where did you find the intake?

  • I bought it when Kenne Bell right before Kenne Bell went out of the Buick business..it was probably in 2003 or 2004. You will see this intake pop up on ebay every now and then.

  • Nice Regal man. Tune out all the V8 heads on here! Stick with a quick 6! I have a N/A 3.8 too. I`m finally getting ready to put the draw-thru turbo on my 78, then I plan to go SFI... down the road.

  • **stock 305 v8 267 hp

  • my regal is identical to that. the interior is just a little more blue, the car is white and it has a v8

  • i have a 81 regal with a stock motor but mines don't sound like that what did u do to have urs runnin heavy

  • See the video description...in short, the cam.

  • Hey I was just wondering if you had to machine the heads to use that camshaft. I have heard some people say you need to machine the heads to use any cams bigger than .448 lift, and others that say that is wrong you can go bigger and have no problems. Thanks

  • Yes, I had to machine the heads. I have around .500 lift so it was necessary. I have heard on some of the later heads on GN's (84-87) you can get away with the .448 cam.

  • @dupperskeez A 500 lift cam will not clear the bearing journals. The easiest way to make a 500 lift cam work, is to cut the back side of the cam and use longer push rods,

  • not you (the car owner).. im talking about dustmagejr.. any retard would say "oh just put a 350 in it".. i bet he thinks thats the only v8 thats ever been made.. my buddy and i just pulled a 283 from a truck so he can replace his 231 in his '76 buick skylark. he found out that it wasnt a 283- but a 307 bored over to a 327

  • No, I don't think 350 was the only v8 ever made, i was refering to him converting it to a manual trans, because 350s were the typical v8 to get in trans ams and camaros.

And I was also advising him not to use the stock v6 if he wanted it to go fast.

    I also suggested a 350 because they're plentiful.

Now fuck off and go to bed, You have school tomorow.

  • its just a 350 or stroked to a 383 is the only logical choice...400's dont last long, 327's are hard to find, and anything below that sucks, if your going to spend money on making your car faster, it doesnt make any sense to use anything less than a 350.

  • 400s last as long as you take proper precautions while building them.. my good friend races circle track running a 377.. a destroked 400 and after 2 full reliable seasons of beating the snot out of it, it runs just fine..

  • right, but at that point, your almost just better off buying an aftermarket small block since a lot of them can be stroked far over 400 inches, i mean if your going to go through all that machine work and precaution with machining the block to make sure it lasts and destroking it...of course if you can do it yourself that would make it cheaper though.

  • He put his together for 1200 bucks.. its nice when you have a network of friends and a plethora of parts at your finger tips.. i get what ya mean tho.. but sometimes if the price is right.. ya just gotta do it

  • yeah i hear you on that..i got a build im copying for my 350 that should be good for 350 horses and 400 ft lbs for about 1500 bucks when its all said and done...got the engine complete running for 400 bucks then im adding headers, edelbrock eps intake, a mild cam (im thinking around 280 duration) and then patriot put out these new vortec style heads that actually flow better than vortecs and they work with any stock style intakes (ou dont have to buy the vortec style) hard to beat for the money.

  • @TWBouska

327s stoke. My 69 Camaro had one - FUCKING A!

The thing about mouse motors is you have to spin them up to get the horses out of them.

  • @alwaysopen its all in how you build them, nowhere near a big block obviously, but the 350 i got in my elco that i build puts down about 430 ft lbs at 2,800

  • is this the 3.8L or the 4.1L??? if its the 231 version do you plan on turbo charging it? if so would you be upgrading the manifold to the stock GN ones or just going custom? i kind of wanted to know because i got the same car and got no clue what turbo kit to put on my 231-any suggestions for me? thanks!

  • This is a 3.8. I have considered turbo or centrifugal supercharger. I would end up keeping it carb'd and doing a blow-thru setup.

If you want to go turbo, the easiest thing to do find a wrecked 84-87 GN and swap the whole engine and wiring harness

  • thats what ive been lokking at as of now, the engines the last thing im going to work on , the current one runs A OK for now, but yeah i think one off of a GN or a T type is what i will go with.

  • Nice buick man. Is that the 231? I have a 79 with the 231 myself, actually rather gutless stock but has lots of room for upgrades, hardest part is finding parts. A good exhaust system is true duals with cherrybomb glass packs. Sounds very throaty with em

  • were did you get the valve covers

  • They are stock GN valve covers that have been painted black and polished the ribs

  • I have already built one of these myself. I used Jim Ruggles book to build it. It's easy to get 1hp per cubic inch out of a buick. I used to 3.0 liter flat top pistons in the 3.8 block with the 3,8 rods. That gives you near 12: to 1 compression. I had the crank crossed drilled and i used a Chet Herbert cam. 300 dur 500 lift. The heads had double coil springs and were ported and polished. The engine dyno ed just over 300hp without the 150 nos. drop me a line for more details.

  • that is one MEAN sounding exhaust for a v6

  • Do you have any idea what kind of horsepower you are putting out?

    Thanks

  • I'm not too sure...it should be about 250hp once its been dialed in.

  • Had a grand prix with the 4.1 bulit like this, ran decent.

  • I wanna build a 2wd Nissan Hardbody with a Buick v6 and some kind of 5-speed, (T-5, New Venture, etc...), I'm not sure which ones will fit the engine. I have a newfound lust for the Buick V6, thats all I know. Even at 7000 rpm, it still doesn't pull 500 cfm though, so thats all the carb I would ever need. (500 cfm 2 barrel). or 2 3-barrel webers off a porsche. But the first is more practical.

  • To get a good 3.8 with manual trans, look for a Camaro or Firebird with that setup. They came with a pretty stout setup in the late 90's, I believe they were a T-56, definately a 6 speed in them though. Those engines were also the most powerful of the 3.8L buicks. There is even turbo kits out there for them.

  • The 3.8 that came in the camaro and firebird from 93 and newer is a newer generation buick 3800 and shares nothing with the older 3.8 or 231 cubic inch carbureted motors. The manual trans that came in the v6 camaro/firebird was a T-5 5 speed. The v8 cars came with the T-56 speed. Neither of these have the correct bellhousing to match up to the old style 3.8/231

  • just take a 350 out of a trans am or a camaro and bolt it in if you want it to have a manual trans.. those v6s aren't good for making horsepower and you need quite a bit of it seeing as you have a pretty heavy car there.

  • Yeah, because nobody has ever put a Chevy 350 in anything before

  • wow.. you're such a douchebag.

  • Your car is really nice.Wow. I also have a 231 in a 85 oldsmobile. I was wondering where you got your valve covers? and what intake manifold are you're using? I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out. You can message me if you'd like. Thanks alot. -Mike

  • This makes me miss my first car. I bought a 1981 Navy Blue Buick Regal for $2,000 in Michigan w/ only 89,000 miles in. . .would be around 2002. It had a 231 V6, rebuilt it and did some bodywork to it. I had it for 5 years until it became too much of a money pit and I had to sell it. . . I miss her lol.

  • hi there i am 17 years old and i am looking 4 a project but i dont want these freakin hondas that everybody have i was just wondering if i could make it with #1 a high school and i just want to make it look nice no need to race just enough to beat somo hondas

  • its dangerous to put the air filter off

  • nice to see someone doing an na 231 for a change.

  • I like it

  • do tink it a sound good on pipes, coming out da back

  • Nice buick 231 build. I am in the planning stages of doing the same thing with my 83 cutlass. I'd love to hear what the specs on your engine are...(after market parts etc..) looks awesome. keep up the good work!

  • Specs for the engine are under "more info" at the top right of the page.

  • is that a holley 390 on there?

  • Holley 600 vac. secondary

  • That sounds GREAT !! I dropped a 3.8 in a 80 Luv truck with headers and stacks , It kicked ass but did not sounds as good as yours

  • wow thats looking great and sounding great too

really nice i would love to build up a 3.8

  • nice. you have the exact same interior as mine, but i got a 2-tone outside. check my video too

  • hurst shifter??

nice sound, and nice rims. Im on the same project with a 1981 231 cutlass. greetins

  • It's actually the B&M Pro Ratchet. I haven't had a chance to change the steering column out yet so I know it looks goofy with a floor shift and column shift.

I just got the bumpers on it so it's coming along nicely.

  • mine has over 300,000 miles on it

  • the 307 is a very durable motor.

  • Nice regal cuz...I just got me an 86 wit 307 V8 hopefully in a couple if weeks I'll have it in the shop to get painted and also get some fiberglass center consoles done

  • What's that beeping noise that played as you were turning the key to start up this 1981 Buick?

  • Its just the ignition buzzer that reminds you the key is in the ignition but the car is not on.

  • Ok, but I thought all Buicks still used the scary buzzer where it sounds like two buzzers sounding together until 1983.

  • Actually, this is the pulsing beep sound that was optional on the Buick Regal from 1979-1982, isn't it?

  • is that stock cause my 80 regal dont have that peep

  • Nice car !!
