Awesome trailer! I have never seen this one before. But could you please find and upload one trailer where Godzilla breaks into a basket ball arena and another one where Godzilla walks on the street and then I dont know, he somehow comes up from a house and carrying it with him on his body. I remember I saw these two amazing trailers when I was younger and was just crazy in Godzilla, well, its the same today, but I would appreciate if someone could find these short trailers/teasers!
@offlinemodder lol. i don't have a problem with that. i got a problem with them giving it a vague or completely wrong title. and when you go to watch it and it isn't what you thought it was gonna be... boo! lmao.
When I first saw this trailer back in 97' I knew something was wrong the minute I saw how thin the tail was. When the movie came out I was first in line to watch the movie and I was seriously disappointed.
i remember i was 8 years old wen i first saw this..i thought it was real lmao i got scared till it said godzilla lol man that was a great movie :D ima watch it now fuck it! lol
This trailer was 10X better than the actual movie. They should have had Godzilla attack on New Years Eve. That would have been unique instead of the a-typical "monster attacking in a rainstorm" routine we've seen a trillion times in monster flicks.
Hopefully Legendary Pictures can clean up the mess Sony made.
Yea is a cool Original Monster, Sucks shit as to having any relation to the Real Godzilla an proven in Godzilla Final War's an Godzilla kills Zilla in 13 seconds LOL
Looking forward to the American Godzilla Reboot in 2012, With Toho helping with the production an watching over it.. an Legendary Pictures did the Batman Reboot's as well as Inception, 300, The Watchmen.
The year of suck. LOLOLOL and to think just one more year and we get the first of Georges Lucas's crappy, shitty ass StarWars prequels. Oh joy. LOLOOLOLOLOLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOLLLLLLL
they should remake 1998 and take clover a king kong and make a new york demolishon movie*( i know i spelt demolishon wrong i just suck at spelling) so yeah zilla vs clover vs king kong you know the new monsters
Legendary Pictures producers of (The Dark knight, watchmen, 300, clash of the titans) and others are in discussions to ''Reboot'' the Godzilla franchise.
It will not be a sequel to that piece of shit 1998 zilla film. It'll probally be out 2014.
Lets hope its 1000x better then this film I didnt like Roland Emmerich to begin with but i really hatted him after seeing how bad he butchered it.
holy sh*t. does anyone else agree that the Cloverfeild teaser totally stole that whole idea?
I mean Clover teaser was effin awesome but it's still a buch of ppl celebrating, the monster screams and projectiles a NY landmark at the crowd then cut to the title. Hmmm.
I hate that so many people thinks this movie is awful and not like the others. JAPAN IS PART OF MAKING THIS MOVIE TOO PEOPLE!!!!!!! If you want to be a godzilla fan, be a godzilla fan (people who hate this movie)! This movie is AWSOME!!!
"JAPAN IS PART OF MAKING THIS MOVIE TOO PEOPLE!!!!!!!"
"Guys, either we do it like this, or we don't do it at all. It's your trademark, but if you don't do it this way...you'll have to find someone else" ~ Emmerich
History indicates that Toho didn't want to approve this film the way it ended up, but had to let it go ahead this way. If they didn't, they would have probably lost the chance to exploit their icon internationally on such a grand scale.
In the movie Godzilla can be killed by the military. In show, he takes several hits from missiles. In the movie he doesn't breathe his radioactive fire, but in the cartoon he does (right down to the glowing dorsal fins). In the movie, Godzilla would run away from his attackers, but in the cartoon he would stay and fight. The list goes on and on.
In short, the Godzilla in the movie didn't have Godzilla's spirit. The Godzilla in the cartoon did.
Toho wasn't happy at all with the film. Toho gave Tri-Star guidelines to follow and Tri-Star ignored them completely. The movie was more of a remake of the Beast From 20,000 Fathoms rather than Godzilla. And now that I mention it, Zilla does look like the Beast.
It's a cool monster design but it's not Godzilla. If anything the movie plays out more like The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms instead of Godzilla. Zilla also looks like the Beast as well. Not to mention Zilla death scene was pretty similar to the death of the Beast.
Not to mention Dean Devlin was not exactly the biggest Godzilla fan. I'm not saying he should be a fan but at least follow the guidelines Toho has given him instead of just accepting his name. It's the equivalent of changing Spiderman's costume and removing his web and crawling ability.
If you're referring to Zilla Jr. from the animated I would agree to an extent. The fight would have been a bit longer but the result would still have been the same. But if you're referring to Zilla 98', he does not share any qualities as Japanese Godzilla.
If you're talking about Zilla 98, he didn't have his atomic breath. Instead you had Zilla blow fire towards the military. It doesn't come out of his mouth. Godzilla was also indestructible. Here, Zilla gets killed by conventional weapons. Godzilla was always hit with a barrage by military with no effects on him. These are a few of his trademark abilities that were removed.
Well they wanted to make him more like a dragon, since hes a lizard. and the part when he gets killed by missiles you got me there, but the japanese godzilla only gets killed by the weapons we have not created.
Thing is, fire really didn't come out from his breath. He roared and his breath pushed the fire towards the military. Japanese Godzilla has only died twice. In 1954 he was killed by the Oxygen Destroyer and in Godzilla vs Destroyah, his own heart suffered a nuclear meltdown, which is why parts of his body was glowing red.
No it actually came from his breath. Because remember the second time he did it there was no fire anywhere, and as you can see there was a powerful soundwave coming from his mouth made the fire speed through from his mouth. You forgot the japanese godzilla was also killed in Godzilla 1985, Godzilla Tokyo s.o.s., Mothra vs Godzilla (remake) and GMK (kind of).
He didn't die in 1985. In Biollante it was explained he was swimming in lava the whole time while being trapped underneath. Godzilla vs Mothra, Godzilla was plunged into the ocean with Battra. In the end of the film he screams with a lot of fury but he didnt die. The other 2 films are the only movies I have yet to see.
@godzilla1077 you forget godzilla 1985 where he's beaten by friggin flock of seaguls and falls into a volcano after fighting a cheesy Shredder from ninja turtles helmet military ship......how lame is that?
@SpyTheChochaMan So wait, you're comparing Godzilla from 84 to Zilla from 98'? The same Zilla that was changing size so it can fit the story. The same Zilla that was knocked out but a concussion blast from 2 torpedos while Godzilla in 84 was hit directly by 2 torpedos by a Russian nuclear submarine?
@godzilla1077 , not at all, what im saying is that 85 is easily beaten just as 98 was. sure i admit 98 was a bit lame, but he was still cool nontheless. my gripe is how the so called fans rip him. he still destroyed new york, while 85 and co' seem to have no sense of direction. what i'm saying as a true fan. is that Godzilla in any form should be praised.
@SpyTheChochaMan Easily beaten? Not really, it was by pure chance and discovery that they found out that Godzilla followed the sounds of the birds. And it was by total theory that Godzilla would follow the sounds because that plan was a last ditch effort to lure Godzilla away from Tokyo considering conventional weapons and even the Super-X were no match for him. Had they not made that discovery, they would have been back to square one with Godzilla rampaging the city.
I was at TGI fridays on 12-31-97 when this tv spot aired a few minutes before the ball dropped in NY. I thought it was the real countdown...til i saw the Godzilla tail. Great promo spot! And the movie was good. Got it on dvd for $4.97 at Wal mart. Cheeper than the $8.00 ticket at the theater 11 years ago!
ha ha one of the most over hyped movies ever i remember when before it came out they had all the billboards saying his foot is longer than than a city bus, and what a turd the movie was when it came out
I remember when this came on when I was little. My aunt thought it was the actual ball drop. Which made it all the more funny when Godzilla showed up.
The movie is fine, its the fact that they tried to pass it off as Godzilla that annoys me. Now if they had titled it as a remake of the beast from 20000 fathoms, then it would have been more successful.
No it wouldn't. No one has a fucking clue what that is. The Godzilla name is much more recognizable than "the beast from 20000 fathoms". The fact that a few nerdraging fanboys might get annoyed by it wouldn't sway the marketing plans for it.
It still would have worked seeings as Godzilla was actually inspired by the beast from 20000 fathoms...>.> same as independance day is loosly based on War of the Worlds.
I don't remember much about the movie, but I do remember that this commercial was awesome! Not many are willing to destroy the Ball when it comes to pushing their products.
Definitely one of the greatest movies mankind has every created. They portrayed a giant beast not as a destructive monster, but as an animal trying to survive.
Exactly my point. I mean, I loved King Kong for that reason, because you could feel for the "beast". In the Japanese Godzilla movies you're supposed to be scared of the creature and feel for the humans. That's not my cup of tea...
@Nicholas092282 now see thats where the problem arises. godzilla STARTED as a rampaging death monger. not as an animal trying to survive. i agree that its a good film. just not a good Godzilla franchise piece.
Maybe, but japanese godzila is still better. It was showned as monster - hero (which can be quite strange for someone when that hero is breaking down houses and etc.) but Godzilaa was showned as more respectful creature. I mean, that it was wonderful idea to create such a beast and japanese showed it.
here? In the end of the movie everyone were happy then Godzilaa died, even main charakters who understood that survive stuff. Maybe it's more logical but thats's why someone critises this movie
Because this movie hasn'rt such aura, as it had japanese movies. It is more ordinary movie.
On the other hand, idea to leave alive some godzila children was cool. That scene was perfect for sequence, Maybe because of critic there is no movie nr. 2. It is quite pitty.
But that's the whole point of Godzilla, he's not some animal trying to survive, he IS a force of nature, like a volcano, or a hurricane. He can't be overcome with brute force, you can just avoid him or stall him long enough to get innocent people out of his way.
Well, its a matter of opinion wouldn't you agree? I mean, from my point of view the Japanese Godzilla movies are awful, I mean like REALLY BAD. But I actually enjoyed this one very much. My point is. You should learn to respect other peoples opinions if you want yours to be respected. This movie is for the ones who enjoyed it and thats it.
Id take a man in a suit any day over awful, cartoonish CGI and Matthew Broderick's "acting". Also, it is very stupid of you to insult the japanese movies even if you obviously haven't seen them. Your a retard.
You don't like Asians? Wow, your Racist, too. You also say in your post that you should learn to respect others opinions. IMHO, this movie sucked. I like the Japanese Godzilla. Lots of people do. Get over it. And by the way, Not all Japanese films are like that. Many of Akira Kurosawa's films are excellent and the Death Note films are great. The Host is a great new moster movie. It was funny, scary, and very entertaining.
Where does it say that i don't like Asians? I don't their film making style... Akira kurosawa has only one movie that I like, "dreams..." (and even that one is "too asian" they're too artistic when it comes down to making films, a lot of times compromising plot over style.
The host? Are you kidding me?If this movie was boring then the host was its father...

MetalScull 3 years ago
Because this movie hasn'rt such aura, as it had japanese movies. It is more ordinary movie.
On the other hand, idea to leave alive some godzila children was cool. That scene was perfect for sequence, Maybe because of critic there is no movie nr. 2. It is quite pitty.

But that's the whole point of Godzilla, he's not some animal trying to survive, he IS a force of nature, like a volcano, or a hurricane. He can't be overcome with brute force, you can just avoid him or stall him long enough to get innocent people out of his way.

horrid movie

Well, its a matter of opinion wouldn't you agree? I mean, from my point of view the Japanese Godzilla movies are awful, I mean like REALLY BAD. But I actually enjoyed this one very much. My point is. You should learn to respect other peoples opinions if you want yours to be respected. This movie is for the ones who enjoyed it and thats it.

Id take a man in a suit any day over awful, cartoonish CGI and Matthew Broderick's "acting". Also, it is very stupid of you to insult the japanese movies even if you obviously haven't seen them. Your a retard.

I don't know who you're talking to. But I've seen the Japs Gojira movies. And IMHO, they suck.
I don't like asian filmmaking... It's just too cheesy, too "kung-fu", too "Power rangers" style if you get my draft...

It was funny, scary, and very entertaining.
whatever45667 3 years ago
Where does it say that i don't like Asians? I don't their film making style... Akira kurosawa has only one movie that I like, "dreams..." (and even that one is "too asian" they're too artistic when it comes down to making films, a lot of times compromising plot over style.
The host? Are you kidding me?If this movie was boring then the host was its father...

@Nicholas092282 They are the same way with their games, especially the JRPGs. JRPGs are horrible.
