Is there any chance his SIB is caused by pain? Have you tried giving him a painkiller when he is hitting himself? Maybe he has caries or some other intense pain that he can't express. Also, I would take all refined sugar/high fructose corn syrup out of his diet. Mothers of children with ADHD are well aware of how these things have a huge negative impact on their children.
@luiza2166 Yes, in fact it's odd you are asking now, because last week doctor gave him morphine during a 14 hours self abusive meltdown that wasn't responding to anything. So, we deduced that in THIS SIB meltdown, YES, pain was the etiology and morphine was given for 2 days, along with anti biotics for an infection of unknown orgin, which was probably causing him the "pain." Research also says SOME SIB meltdowns are rooted in pain and PAIN meds should be first line of treatment before anitspy

It seems like he's not aware of anything he is doing or where he is at time to time, is that true? And he can't talk either? I really feel sorry for him and hopefully he can recover very soon from selfhurting at least. Don't know if he still does it but still.
@sybow No, he's aware, just in his own world. I think the world around him frustrates him immensely. It must be a constant sensory overload or underload or at times just a load. I believe his mind, like many autistic minds, are just operating outside of what we are able to understand.
