Wow! The blind hatred this guy has for America has broken his moral compass. Had he confronted certain uncomfortable truths -- ex. a refusal to fight a war does not equal peace -- then he would have reached completely different conclusions. But no. His hatred for America must come first. Truth: Human nature is what it is. A projection of military power is deadly, yes. But a projection of military weakness can be far more deadly. The guy has tons of talent but he has very little wisdom.

But why don't the Americans just capture one of the space alien fighter ships then put a nukular bomb, Will Smith and Jeff Goldbum inside and infiltrate the space alien mothership with the fighter ship. Then they can detonate the bomb while at the heart of the mothership, destroying it and thereby disabling all the other ships laser shields. Leaving their vulnerable underbellies open to attack. Then they can all be free from the evil space aliens!

Isn't that how it's supposed to happen?
