Only the greatest singer of all time... Eyes of Laura Mars is a great movie. Faye Dunaway was excellent in it. It's a who-done-it thriller from I think the 70's. Rent it--you won't regret it.
Kick-Ass! She sang 'Mother' by John Lennon beautifully!! Go check it out,or it's in my favorites. It's incredible!! I love Prisoner.I was little when it came out after A Star is born.Great upload! Thanks!
I agree. Of all the albums Barbra has released during her long career, Greatest Hits, Volume 2 was her only album to have this song. This is Barbra at her very best. She didn't record a lot of rock-oriented songs, but this one and Stoney End are among her few.
@Matto2t Yes, Stoney End was really good too, I remember she performed it live when she was endorsing McGovern as a candidate. I also love her rendition of "Somewhere" from westside story. Its on the Broadway Album. The power of her voice is simply amazing.
So true. She did indeed sing Stoney End live when she endorsed George McGovern in 1972. From what I learned, she had done a concert for him hoping that Nixon would be out of office in early '73, but sad to say, Nixon was reelected, and McGovern only ended up with a small amount. I have the album of that concert and she was wonderful. She had given the audience a choice of hearing Second Hand Rose or Stoney End (they chose the latter....) (continued in another message)
Streisand, is a contralto or possibly a mezzo-soprano who has a range consisting of well over two octaves from “low E to a high G and probably a bit more that in either direction.
Barbara, GOD gave u so much talent my darling, that you have your spot in HIS choir in Heaven, now is the time to brake the chains where u were prisioner...to be free, so live your life seeking HIM, so you will have the crown 4 ever.
@gosacomolia lol no im not. Look up karen lawrence. singer songwriter, She wrote songs with Aerosmith and played with some of the greatest artists of all time, including b.b. king. She was herself considered to be one of the greatest female blues artists of her time.
I love this song, I used to break out in it in my room years ago.. and just dance to it..! Such a good dramatic song..! Anybody see the movie from the 70's that the song is from..? Saw part of it, not as good, but still might be worth seeing..
I've seen the movie myself, but first on TV. Then I got it on VHS, and I got it on DVD for my birthday a few years ago. It is one of my favorites. I learned that Barbra was the first to be offered the part of Laura Mars, but she turned it down (saying she hated thrillers, and was still tired after doing A Star is Born). However, she did agree to sing this song for the movie. It was on the soundtrack album, and is on her Greatest Hits, Volume 2 album as well.
@vvvvq9 dude she didnt even write the song my aunt did, look up karen lawrence. original songwriter and lead singer of LA Jets, Blue by Nature and The Pinz. unfortunately barbera striesand took alot of the glory from her because my aunt wrote it for the movie she sang it in.
You're being silly. Singers perform other peoples' songs all the time and "take a lot of the credit for it"... It's nice your aunt wrote it, but it's also nice Barbra sang it... You act like Streisand stole it or something!
@kyolym not complaining at all, i think its cool she sang it, in fact my aunt was on set with her during the movie and wrote most of the songs for that album. Im more frustrated that she gets credit for something my aunt did. its like doing ur homework and someone else getting an A on ur assignment because shes more popular.
@djoiner22 Well now that you mention it, while I don't 'watch' opera, I do listen; I love me some Sarah Brightman (she's a soprano). And like all card carrying homos, I do watch the design shows on HGTV. Oh, and it's spelled faggOt.
@piepaco I had this from the time it came out. I never saw the movie though I think it was on at the cinema for about a week and it sank without trace. Barbra could sing the phone book and it would sound better than anything released today.
GREAT couple and amazing talents..his film Gloria is one of the most favotites ever!...you should see it.. you gonna love the music too..by Bil Conti..
Unbridled passion, star struck love, this song makes me a prisoner. And I never want to be released. Captivated by her sensual emotions. Simply breath-taking.
thank you so much gyus for watching and for your lovely comments!!..am a cinema maniac and i cant resist of Movie Stars Photos..sorry for my poor english,i hope you understand what am trying to say..have all of you great moments of fun with lots of good music..XXX
