  • is this harmfull for the eyes?

  • @chilidress Of course it is. That's why you have to wear safety goggles while operating the laser.

  • What happens if you increase the capacitance? What is the best way to increase the number of pulses per second?

  • @icorn25 You have some good questions. Increasing the capacitance will in a first approximation increase the pump pulse duration. I doubt that any further increase in discharge duration will improve the output significantly. A reasonable decision would be to change the spark gap for a pressurized, triggered SG. Of course, a suitable power supply would be needed, too.

  • I see you have a front surface mirror attached to the rear of the cavity, but I was wondering. Have you tried a Brewsters window on the front?

  • I've built nitrogen, dye, and ruby lasers. But this is the most impressive laser I have seen on Youtube! I like it because it is totally made from scratch. Now I also want to make one. Congratulations on a really cool laser, and an excellent video presentation.

  • Good Job ^_^.

What is the output power ?, Do you try to put some fluorescent dye and try to lase ?

The voltage, and capacity of this laser ?, Thanks for sharing it.

  • Thanks, Alfonatr!

I wrote a little about the laser in the description of the video where it can be seen operating. Here you go: " I use a 1nF / 40kV capacitor in parallel to the spark gap and 2nF in series to these. The end points connect to the discharge tube and to a loading choke. The power supply unit attaches to the spark gap terminals. The gap is ~12mm wide and I use hemispherical V2A M8 nuts -> operating voltage : 20..25kV. I think the working pressure is somewhere between 1...10mbar."

  • 1m bar is good void, i will show you the laser i used in the laboratory of my university and please give me your commets

  • very nice and good job !
