  • I think more then Just Thomas Paine, but the entire constitution should be mandatory reading, the pledge should be recited , History of the U.S. Should be the utmost studied, not the history of mexico, not the history of Russia or any other country, But the History of the US. We have chosen security over freedom as well which has placed us in deep fecal matter.

  • I think this person should be shown in all schools.

  • @ShutterbugW I agree, assuming that they also make Thomas Paine's works required reading in all schools. (excluding the age of reason, as it would violate the constitution to teach it in a government funded school).

  • @yellowkrux WHAT CONSTITUTION now that were not using it, may as well as thrown in the "Age of Reason" as we are a nation "With Out Reason" or is the Age of Reason Politically incorrect? Oh there is another thing that chaps my hide. Being politically correct, it sounds so..English.

  • @ShutterbugW It would violate the separation of church & state to require students to read Age of Reason, then again it's not like the christian right isn't going to sue schools if Agrarian Justice & Rights of Man are taught in public schools, they'd get all huffy & start calling it communist brainwashing, still they wouldn't have any legal basis to sue for teaching those books.

  • @yellowkrux eerg.Well, I should have sued em when I had the chance when I found the Satanic bible in schools

  • @ShutterbugW Yea because all we need is another frivolous unfounded lawsuit because someone who doesn't realize they don't have the right not to be offended found a book they don't like, we certainly need school libraries to ban books people might find offensive.

  • Bob Basso is a fraud. If you want to know what the real Thomas Paine read Thomas Paine. Start with Agrarian Justice. You will find in short order who is rewriting our history.

  • Wow, this is amazing. People, read "The Age of Reason." This is so not Thomas Paine!

  • Why does he have an American accent?

  • LOL there right wing clowns are trying to claim someone who if he was alive today they'd be calling a socialist. kinda sick though, seeing them dress up some douchebag and put words in a deadmans mouth.

  • boy people here haven't read any of Thomas Paine's stuff. This idiot in the video certaintly hasn't. Apparently republicans 'forget' that Paine hated Christianity, was barely a deist, almost an atheist, and didn't really care for those 'traditions' celebrated by the grand old party as they are today. But yeah, go ahead, re write the founding fathers, if it makes you feel better.

  • You need to go study your history, and without the brainwashed mind-hat on, a product of those 2 generations that have been propaganda spoon-fed no doubt...else an OOOBAAAAMAAA brainwashed mole trolling the STRONG and MASSING Liberty Movement...go away...fast!

  • Paine was also in favor of a progressive tax to fund a guaranteed minimum income for all and a government run old age pension. He would have hated people like Hannity and Beck. The Constitution does not mention god once, because the founders were totally opposed to religion in government.

  • right, exactly! John Adams was religious, but he fully believed in keeping it out of politics. Jefferson was semi religious, but not really. Washington was religious, but also believed in separation of church in state. It wasn't until the later presidents that they began to be so overtly religious.

  • "We the People" has there ever been more powerful words spoken. I can't seem to shake Basso words "a people that fear their government is tyranny, and a government that fears the people is LIBERTY" Ill take liberty every day of the year. There is a rumbling in USA right now, it is a long sleeping giant called the Silent Majority or as I like to say Americans being AMERICANS. OUR REPUBLIC MUST STAND, OR WE WILL ALL FALL. I WILL be in Washington on 12th, Will you come and Stand With Me?

  • I will be there in spirit. Heck, the whole election of the Usurper-in-Chief was a scam!

  • @ThinkerHHHH, It is good that people are angry, but they are being used as pawns to destroy our government, instead you should use your anger to take our government back from the corporate powers, and redirect our resources away from war and enriching millionaires toward things that will actually benefit the commonwealth. This video is a slander against Tom Paine.

  • Thomas Paine was a lot of things to a lot of people. Once a good friend of George Washington and then not.

But he is most famed for the pamphlet he wrote, Common Sense, because that pamphlet is credited for having struck the chord in the colonists that the shit was about to hit the fan. What the king had done was devised a plan to hire the Hessians to destroy them. He threw them out of the king's protection and Paine sounded the horn.

I would have picked George Washington myself.

  • The guy tossing the Standing For Healthcare sign was the funniest. I liked him.

And what's with the ACORN protesters all have the SAME signs while the so-called mob have all the homemade signs. How much did Obama pay you guys this time? hahahha

  • The only vitriol I've seen here is from the left.

  • @2009Patriot, The reason you see vitriol from the left is that Fox has taken a great liberal thinker and forced him to parrot the conservative thoughts of Hannity and Beck. I am glad you put up this video because it is evidence of just how dishonest Fox is.

  • Awesome Video!!!!! Thank you for posting

  • the sleeping giant had better wake up or it will forever sleep. But do everyone favor people, learn, know and understand what it is going on. Don't blindly follow anyone - not Thomas Paine, not Obama, not Ron Paul, NO ONE. Question everything, ask common sense questions, and demand accountability!

  • Obama's Chicago union thug tactics are backfiring.

ObamaCare is going nowhere except into oblivion.

His troops are retreating in a panic; it's his Waterloo!

  • Most of these things said are on the contrary to what Thomas Paine actually believed.

One; he was a diest and was very much for the seperation of church and state (referring to the "One nation under god")

Two; although believing in small government, he also believed in a form of a welfare state (Agrarian Justice)

Also, mregreyshadow: Everything you said in your first paragraph was simply... wrong. Most of the things you accused him of were in fact the complete opposite.

  • Ummm. Mr.Paine...America has lost a bunch of times...your Whitehouse was even burned down!

    Blind patriotism = ignorance

  • Also, Paine was a deist and thought the Bible was human invention. This portrayal of him continues to refer to God. Deists believe God does not care about or participate in human affairs.

  • Thomas Paine was a radical propagandist, not a founder of the nation. He completely objected to the idea of democracy, and insisted that after independence America should create a monarchy. He refused to participate in the Constitutional Convention and is a figure a lot more like Che Guevara than George Washington. However, we Americans owe him gratitude for rousing common folk with "Common Sense," against the British during the revolutionary war.

  • Thomas Paine is a historical figure, not a Republican. Stop this revisionism. This is like us liberals having a Ben Franklin impersonator speak out against the Patriot Act (with that one line about security and liberty).

  • Well said !!!

  • I wish Ben Franklin would come back... he would be against Obama and Bush.

  • Damn Right!
