This is based on the work done at Yale University by Dr. Sally Shaywitz. It is the scientific justification for allowing extra time during tests. However, I still think you are correct that many dyslexic people learn to read quite well. The larger point of the video is that many parts of the brain are engaged while a dyslexic person reads.
This isn't good at all not all dyslexics read at a slower pace than non-dyslexics. Dyslexia has many complex cases each has it's own different pattern of thought and ability please don't think they all can't read well-that's a myth.
