19th century folk it is, ans well done. I am a part of a living history project on women in telegraphy in the 19th century, we love listening to your work as we restore our 19th century environs and equipment. Beautiful versions of these songs, I especially love the "Ladies & Love Songs" pieces, and ALL of the Stephen Foster songs. Had never heard Glendy Burk before! Thanks for the postings!
I would like to say "THANK YOU" to everyone who has commented on my work. Your comments are heartwarming and inspiring to say the least. Even negative comments show that someone is listening! Tom
Many of these new generations can't appreciate how good they have it compared to generations past when common disease and death was a constant and unavoidable part of their lives considering the archaic methods of medicine back then, not to speak of basic hygiene.
Thank you for posting. It's a sad but beautiful song.

This song is not as beautifulas lorena, but in its simplicity it somehow seems much more touching.

O land of rest, for thee I cry,
When will the moment come?
When I shall lay my armor by,
And dwell at rest at home.
Oh, Heaven! Sweet Heaven!
Home of the blessed!
How I long to be there,
In its glory to share,
And to lean on my Saviors breast.

If it had to be labeled, some would call it 'nostalgic' or 'early American.' I would call it 19th century folk music.
