I'm taking astronomy for my required science credits (psychology major here) and my professor told us to look up Zeeman effect. I have no idea how this relates to the suns magnetic fields or sun spots. Can anyone explain it to me?
In an attempt to understand the role of the spin property of elementary particles I was reading the wikipedia article on the Zeeman effect, and I had some difficulties fully understanding the concept. Then I stumbled upon this video by chance and just like that, after 13:43 of high-quality well explained ingenious and informative video, I can now "imagine" this effect "in action".
