my mum had the vol.2 album, god rest her soul and she gave it to me and i love it, i remember playing all her records wen i was young on her record player lol
I lived in France in the late 60s, went to lycee in Lyon, all the kids had this 45 Harlem Lady and Pearly Spencer, played one side then turned it over and played the other side.
I was about 6 when I played his lp's over and over on my parents old gramophone.... to this day even though I have the cd's i prefer the sound of the old vinyl record sound! He was a very underrated musical genius of his time
I must agree with you john111257.

I am sure this was played on an edition of 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' sometime in the early 1970's.
I haven't heard it since then.

I would struggle to call him a great poet...its a bit better than 6th form but not much..BUT he had a great voice and a good sense of melody

Still have two LP's by this guy, bought them in a wallpaper shop in 1970!!
The best purchase I ever made.
The guy is a genius - a great poet and musician.
