Now, I could be wrong -- but a democracy is equivalent to mob rule. Whatever the majority wants, they get. We're supposed to have a constitutionally limited republic, and that's what (supposedly) keeps a (religious/not religious) majority from oppressing a minority.
You can't "love democracy" and then say that a religious majority can't use government to push their views.
That's why we aren't a democracy, we're a republic. The republic structure is meant to mitigate the tyranny of the majority over the rights of a minority. It doesn't always work, unfortunately, specially in these days of political demagoguery.
I agree that it is conceited, but I think that Secularism is seriously under attack in the United States. We can't win, under attack abroad from Islamic radicals while being sabotaged at home by Christian radicals.
there's the pot calling the kettle black. who's making assumptions? I made that assumption b/c you quote chick verbatim. are there other loons out there who say the exact same thing as him too? whatever, dude. you're in the same category with Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort-so pathetic you don't even warrant an answer. people like you have caused the books that Dawkins and Harris have written
oh really? the pope influences Bush? I believe the pope actually told him NOT to invade Iraq? duh. I'm not a fan of the catholic church, but I think most of the religious problems in this country are caused the religious right and the moral majority, as merryjest said.
The white pope is nothing, the Black Pope Peter Hans Kolvanbach Has the real power why do you think 2 of the white popes were poisend? or was that a conspiracy?
This is an excellent video! great message! if you guys like this video, google "Take action! Protect Separation of Church and State!" in youtube's search bar. I think you'll enjoy it just as much!
As a born-again Christian who is active in his church, I have to say that this is a wonderful video about what I believe concerning the rights of citizens of the USA.
The problem for the fundamentalist Christian movement in America is it doesn't see that the law that separates church from state is to protect them. They are so concerned with conquering all others they never thing what happens to them if they become a vulnerable minority. More interestingly they fail to follow Jesus who told them to pray in private (sermon on the mount). They force a faith on others that they cannot even follow themselves.
The bad thing about this country is that we refuse to take anything seriously anymore. We've seen that the current administration has no respect for the constitution, and sadly, i think alot of Americans just view it as a "Historical Document" and not as the very fabric of this nation.
Good message...terrible music.

Yeah, like North America is the only place where you have the right to believe or not. Total lack of education.
