Forget ist! The only one who can play Smoke On The Water is Ritchie Blackmore himself and no other on this planet. I remember the days as i was 14 in 1971 as the casino in Montreux / Switzerland burned down. The lyrics tell the story exactly.

serious guitar players. make sure you go to his site. this youtube stuff is not enough. and make sure you use internet explorer. you can slow down portions without losing pitch. he's done some amazing stuff with his website. stuff i've never seen on a website before... like slowing down video so you can get every note without losing pitch. and tabs that open with song's - it's no ordinary thing. this is stuff you didn't know a url could function like this before. amazing url development.

I have actually seen interviews with him, where he says, and shows how he originally played it. And this is pretty much what he said. Don't forget, that many guitarists play songs differently live.
