The earth and all its peoples are insignificant from an objective universal view. There is nothing controversial about that because subjectivity is a requirement of significance.

However, for almost every inhabitant of the Earth, that planet could not be more significant.

Interestingly, the significance of Planet Earth decreases the further removed a sentient being is emotionally and physically from it, so an alien in another galaxy would probably hold our planet with little significance.

I think there are multiple ways of interpreting that statement. I see it as, we are not the only thing in this extraordinarily large universe.
