Stick to cross country in the fall and you'll drop your mile time in the track season by at least a minute pretty easily. Just train hard, eat the right food (no hamburgers for lunch, or fast food.. etc) and stay focused on your goal.
I run track...middle school. I only run a few seconds under 5:30, and these guys are FAST. I hate the feeling in your stomach just before a race, I got it just watching.
i run track and xc against mac fleet right now. that kid is nuts. he ran a 4:08 mile at state as a sophmore. I run like a 4:40. This kid is nuts. Major props to ya Mac

I'm in middle school and i do long distance for my track team.
my time is about 6:15. i really want to reach 6:00.

Actually, Mac Fleet just ran a 1:50 800m this year. (His Junior year.)
