The Art Carney special of 12/04/1959 was called "Very Important People." The New York Times review the next day: "An hour of sustained, devastating satire ... With sustained humor and frequent hilarity, Mr. Carney mimicked ... the moderator of 'What's Your Business?' with an expertise that would qualify him to fill in [for the real counterpart]."
As a kid, I watched this show occasionally... thanks to YouTube I've watched an awful lot of these... Never have I seen Daly have such a good time, as he did this time, with Carney.
I really, REALLY want to see that show on which Art and company did a parody of What's my line. Must have been great. This little sample Art gives is great
Thank heaven for videotape and kinescope, for we don't have to rely on legends: we can see the evidence that Art Carney had one of THE great comic talents. His 1966 appearance stands as his great WML performance, but this one is a close second.
Daly is so suave and urbane; it is hysterical to watch Carney reduce him to watery-eyed bellylaughs. It is good that Daly has a sense of humor about his articulate but sometimes windbag "clarifications."
I waiting for Art to give John a little kiss there while whispering, lol!

Hat's off to a great WWII, D-Day vet, Art Carney. Art, we miss you. You were the man who kept Jackie honest,
Hope you went on to even greater things (which is hard to imagine).

Heh - love the Daly imitation. There are now three WLM episodes on YouTube with Art as mystery guest. All three are very amusing.
