  • As a white South African coming from a country with many similaraties in our history. I find it interesting how America pays such homage to African American, but say nothing of the true custodians of the land, the North American Indians. They wagged the moral finger at us for so long. How many Native Americans are in government today?

  • my goodness those of you that chose to fight on this posting are disrespectful and ignorant ...your ancestors have suffered not you ...i'm a mohawk and proud of the fact ...your acting like savages no wonder people think us indians dont deserve any thing ..stop and think before you react ..this song is beautiful and should be respected ....and by the way years ago no one smiled because most pics were used for when you died ....now grow up and make a change and stop complaining ...

  • My apologies to Robbie Robertson; I had previously said that John Trudell

arranged this magnificent song. I had been listening to the full legend of

Crazy Horse by Trudell and was so horrified and in a meltdown, my mind

    was blown.

  • The only 'staged' pic was a painting. These were proud, dignified people.

After their land was ripped out from under them, their nations butchered,

being lied to, cheated, deceived and trampled by maniacs like Custer, etc..... why would they smile? I am certain they did before the first vicious Brits got here or Anglos'.

  • a.i.m...the500 nations will rise again, untill then mustespect our elders and trust the spirits protect us.

  • I was always told that the ghost dance was outlawed and is still illegal today.

  • @giiwadinang23 is it im doing it right now whos gonna arrest me?

  • @borneo215 You shouldn't mock what you don't know. Lots of people died for doing that dance. You should learn respect for it instead of being a douche about it, js.

  • @giiwadinang23 ohh shut up nobody is mocking anything you sensitive asshole go cry about it your just looking for trouble if you are just say it and il show you what trouble is i know more about the ghost dance and native americans than you so shut up

  • @borneo215 Shut the fuck up asshole. I can't stand people like you trying to act high and mighty about shit, i fucking guarantee I know more about dancing than you. You mock shit you don't obviously know.

  • @giiwadinang23 suck my dick you fukkin ugly turd il wipe my ass witth your face go et raped by a dog you son of a dog fukkin asshole coward

  • @giiwadinang23 lol you know more about dancing well good for you dikhead good for you i know more about the ghost dance and native americans than you and why shouldnt i act high and mighty to scum like you i should act like einstien too i cant stand little turd fukkers like you trying to start a fight without even knowing what your saying you stupid fuk your not on my level go talk to somebody dumb like you dont talk to me your making me more dumb when you speak your a fukkin disgrace to humans

  • @borneo215 Oh no I've made the the almighty angry. Of course a pussy like you will talk shit over the fucking computer, that's easy as shit. You say I'm not on your level but these insults are worse than a fucking child. I don't pretend to be anyone, but obviously you're to immature to take in a simple fact of the culture. So you can go suck on your moms choid for all I care. I"m above pieces of shit like you and i don't know why I'm even bothering with this.

  • Sad sad, if learn from the wise men back then they can teach us all something no one can today.

  • Oh,Columbus,what have you done...

  • how appropriate for columbus day... in memory of all the lost souls of the past and recent suicide / poverty victims.. you are lost but loved and NEVER forgotten. The ignorance of the heartless of the past and present will catch up with them thru karma..

  • SuPER ...... but the above commentary should read. Life in those days

wasn't fun for anyone. Peyote is mystical and the video depicts spiritual

images.............lovely. Robbie Robertson can sure tell it.

  • i had my friends listen to this they may not have been ready to believe im completely different from them not just by skin but by culture believe and history im may have shocked them

  • Notice how no one in these pictures is smiling.....

  • @peasblossom1973 - While this is true, and certainly it's true that everyone depicted in my video lived a very harsh and difficult life -- it is important to note that the fashion of the time was such that having your portrait taken was a very solemn occasion. You won't find anyone from this era smiling in their photos - of any race. Also quite often portraits with Indians from this era were staged, and the subject directed by the photographer to look like a stern and scary savage.

  • @JimTheUmp

My Daddy was one one of those people.....and he rarely smiled in pictures. But you're completely right about the staging. Wish we could post pics here, cuz I've got a pic from 'old Oklahoma' where no one is smiling....and it wasn't staged.

  • @JimTheUmp It should also be noted that many 'traditional' peoples (read: those closer to their ancestral cultures before so-called 'modernization), and even whites in the early days of photography did not smile in photos, and simply retained neutral / regular expressions. It is only in the contemporary world we expect people to pose with artificial smiles for photos.

  • @peasblossom1973 Yeah, neither were the Holocaust victims. Seriously?!

  • @MsYogi1970

That was my POINT! I was bringing to light how the hardships of the times were reflected in the faces of those depicted. I, myself, have both a CDIB card, and a tribal card. I certainly wasn't implying that anyone SHOULD be smiling......

  • @peasblossom1973 Why would they smile. People think the 1st holocaust that effected America was the WW. In truth we were shot like dogs in the street. Old Young women it made no difference. If we didnt follow thier way we were dead

  • Where we are from? The big question. The docomentation of the first american say that they are from sibera, from denmark, from japan, from polinesia, from china. And they speak not one word from Africa, Africa is completly forgotten in all history books, think about it. And it is not 10000 years ago its maybe 35000 years ago or 100000 years ago, all new ones kill the old ones everywhere, so think a lot about all this blood stories, think and speak. We are all nativs, we have all our bad stories.

  • I love this song. I don't like this song alot. I F***ing LOVE this song, only song that makes me cry everytime. Only song that makes me happy everytime.

  • Smart people don't pave paradise & put up a parking lot!

  • @laccio1984 you have to understand the history of our natives, we the white man stole all of their land and continue not to let them in our world. You talking like just means your not very educated and are iggnerant to most of the natives are still starving to death.

  • @kelceelin014 Whats about Africa, my friend? There starving the people like flies every day and who cares? They are Nativs too. Maybe the oldest Nativs in the world. Maybe. I also dont know, nobody knows. Who wants to know?

  • <3

  • Its thru YOU that they live again. Your ancestors are always with u, inside of u. Reconnect with them any time u want, just by looking inside yourself, & recognizing who YOU are!

  • The Native Americans came from Russia, not from Mexico, you gobshite ignorant Git

  • @RamsesIreland

    Too right, my friend!!!

  • @RamsesIreland if they came from russia or siberia why dont they look asian? i have never seen a native look like a chinese siberian or whatever native americans are taller bigger have a nose bridge dont have slanted eyes and look completly different anyone can tell a native american from an asian stop stealing there culture and people you idiots why you all want to claim them just fukkin leave them alone they know who they are and where they came from more than you

  • The Native Americans look like Mexicans that migrated into the country.

  • @Equationization No, they look more like the uropeens that claim to have discovered the americas(not). Stifle yourself, who but some overly inflated egotistical nation claims to 'discover' a country where a whole group of people were already established and living? Huh?

  • ...great song!

  • MAY THE RED BLOOD FLOW ETERNAL, GHOSTDANCERS

  • peace be with the spirit walkers may they lead and guide us to defeat the lizard skinned ones and the demons that roam and rule us now, free us from our chains and walk freely amongst the land once again so we can heal and be free Great Spirit show us the way may we listen and hear you song through dance and freedom give us the strength and wisdom to educate and free the slave, undue the chains of our minds free us into this world!

  • I like the video. Part Cherokee. Children are Cherokee and Wyandot from Huron.

Interesting you show in your video- the rock carvings of the people who told us

about the last deluge and passing of the dark star....

    Those days are coming soon.

  • @josh10873 So in other words, you want innocent people to die for what a small segment of their ancestors have done. What a vile person you are.

  • rainbow children , the people who embrace the ancient ways and the path of the Creator will embrace a new dawn. The Messianic message of the "Lost white brother" Wovoka Jack Wilson knew the truth........

  • So, if white society really gets what's coming to them, what happens to me? I'm part white, part Native. Is half of me going to disappear?

  • fantastic

  • good stuff.

  • So haunting and I love the images added to the song. very moving

  • @username4Y There is nothing wrong with being a smorgasbord, lots of good stuff in there. *smiles*

  • In Brazil we've so many indians tribes.

They still speak only their own language.

Their culture is preserved, they are untouchable.

  • In Brazil we've so many indians tribes.

They still speak only their own language.

They culture is preserved, they are untouchable.

  • p.s. We do still sing those songs

  • Have I told you yet how much I love this video? if not - I'm sorry. This is extraordinary - and I regret that more haven't seen it - because it leaves an impression that doesn't fade. My ancestors were Cherokee - and I will always be. Thank you for reminding all of us - of who we truly are.

  • In the beginning, God gave Mother Earth her Children mankind. She was to teach them how to take care of themselves and eachother and finally her. But the Great Lie came and separated the family. Through realizing and understanding our relationship to eachother and our Great Family; Then we will restore life to it's truest form, together. We shall live again. Peace with love teli Nuttah Oya

  • @libertylives2 <3 :D

  • Good tune this is. Reptilians love it!

  • "Politicians need to learn from doctors..." every human being is a human soul.

  • Ahem...listen again...to the idea and common question..."why are Native Americans christians?" Because they know the TRUE christianity, not the one brought here by murderers and scoundrels. It would be truly diff. to ascertain on a Youtube comment line if someone were living their truth unless they told you so.

  • My mother has cherokee on both sides of her family...but i could care less...this song ROCKS!!!! If you don't get it, then !$*&k off!

  • @padraigmarcus Why ?

  • @LionProductionsTV I was just being silly. I can see now reading my comment that the joke didn't come out right. Guess I'll need to keep my day job. The song is great musically and lyrically. I thnk anyone of any heritage can enjoy the song.

  • @ArtViews Um, like people aren't already without your comment? Learn context and develop critical reading comprehension.

  • @hwiseman1 Together we shall live again. The Rainbow tribe will unite before the Earth turns counterclockwise and restores balance. We shall live again brother!

  • An awesome, beautiful and sad video...my cherokee ancestors remember and remind me always,

  • Beautiful! Inspiring!

  • Reading Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee was eye-opening for me. Can't look at the American West the same now. I'm Asian American.

  • And just for those who may wonder about my blood? I'm 3/4 Irish and 1/4 Cherokee. So if you go by blood, both sides of me know about being opressed by greater powers.

  • And just in case people start saying "Look at what the white man has done", I point to the Japaneese treatment of the Korea, China, and the Philippines people. And Mongols in the entire area of Euroaisa. It goes on and on throughout history. I hope we make it to a point where we discover that might does not make right and we no longer need to use our beliefs and power as reasons to exterminate others. Want one more example? Ever hear of gang wars? Smaller scale of the same thing.

  • A culture developed in the powers that be at the time and in many of the people in the contested areas that the only way to solve the "Indian Problem" was to eliminate the problem. This included the use of poision, guns, burning crops, salting lands and the first use in North America of germ warfare. The Army provided blankets contaminated with small pox to Indian tribes for the upcomming winter. Look in Africa, look in America, look in Austrailia, history repeats.

  • By the time that the tribes in the coastal regions learned that their allies today were their killers tomorrow it was too late to stop it. Disease, loss of lands, the killing of the youngest and fittest, and the belief that the "White Man" had to stop somewhere led to the elimination of many tribes and the dispersion of the rest to reservations and unwanted lands unable to support their cultures. As with any flood though, there were survivors who held on to what they valued.

  • Another breif history lesson. When the British, Spanish, and French first started spreading out in the Americas, their best allies were Native Americans who saw the newcommers and their power as a way to remove enemies from the lands. They were guides, scouts, informers, and in many cases uniformed members of the very armies and organized forces who were wiping out other tribes. They failed to grasp that after their enimies were removed, they were next on the list.

  • Who sings this song - I want to get it on itunes!!!

  • @kathleen2952

Robbie Robertson & The Red Road Ensemble from their recording Music for the Native Americans.

  • it makes my kinda sad but yet so happy

  • @k9furryisme There's a fire that has ignited in me and this song fuels it. :)

  • Beautiful thank you

  • This song is beautiful.Being born and raised in England I didn't know why the ghost dance was outlawed, so I did some research to find out why. I was both appalled and upset by what the white man and the us army did to these people. Outrageous and shameful.

  • @TinLizzie551 Brief history lesson. What did the British empire consider the Native people of Austrailia. Vermin who needed to be removed from any land usefull to the empire. The clash of cultures continues to this day. A culture of might will defeat a culture of co-existance. Until our very natures are changed, we will always consider the world in terms of us and others. If we see others in the way, then the us will prevail in our minds. Read history and try not to repeat it.

  • @DouglasMiles1 ..I'm afraid I agree. Only until our natures are changed..and that will point to ethical problems. But until then, we will always see man's inhumanity to man. I'm sorry to be so pessimistic, but I believe we just aren't far along enough in our evolution to do anything differently.

  • @DouglasMiles1 The British empire lives on in the US empire and was passed on by the Roman empire.

  • why did the white man's god let them do the evil that they did 2 the native americns......what fucking god...its called greed and white boys are the master of that evil and it is their goddamn gods....have a super blessed day...amos N camden

  • @amosjordan The people who could do this weren't listening to god, they were selfish, weak, fearful, people who couldn't see beyond themselves. Greedy cowards always hide behind religion or whatever authority they can find to excuse their immoral behavior.

  • @amosjordan Who says they were following the teachings of God? I know it must be tough to separate the actions of some 'proponents' of Christianity with actual teachings they are ignoring.

  • which cd is this song from?

  • @TinLizzie551

Robbie Robertson & The Red Road Ensemble - Music for Native Americans

  • With All things and in all things are we related. Words of the Sioux Nation

  • @Shadowdrak5 to all my relatives!!!

  • the more things change ,the more they R the same....it goes on&on&on&on&on......peace B with the.....amos n camden 29020

  • I am so moved and in love with the medicine of this song. It calls to my soul and i to its message and sends this message to the four winds...thanks for sharing this with the world. Wado

  • Hate is not a boundary - it is a weapon........a spear with a poison tip. it not only poisons the target it poisons the thrower as well, and we are all infected.

Discrimination determines the need for a boundary and respect protects it.

    We shall live again!

  • mswaking ~ i totally agree with you! my father was as close to being a Native American, an indigenous people, in heart and spirit, as any I have met and I have met many. my father needed a lot of healing - he cried too many days for the People.

  • December 1st, the birthday of Durwin Whitelightning, beloved Heyoka medicine man, 35 year Sun Dancer, NAC sacred medicine carrier, from Standing Rock Reservation, North Dakota ~ whose life was wrongfully taken from the People in Minot, ND on December 9, 2009. Listen to the the Spirits! Clear his name! Heal the hearts! He shall live again.

  • No words can explain the feelings in this song.

  • I almost cried You can kill my body You can damn my soul For not believing in your god And some world down below You dont stand a chance Against my prayers You dont stand a chance Against my love They outlawed the ghost dance But we shall live again, We shall live again
  • Also, beautiful song.

  • I am beyond disgusted and ashamed for what white people in general have done in the past, I hate my ancestors for the horrors that they committed.

And I hate that Australia's true history wasn't taught at any of my Schools, they only give you the rainbows and ponies version about Captain Cook and the settlers, they skip the part where we massacred hundreds of innocent natives in the most brutal of ways...

  • Awesome song!!

  • Wado; I have this CD, for the fourth time, I keep burning it up and my friends keep borrowing it. Great CD, Great music, Great sentiment. Come on Cherokee.

  • ...wonderful song...

  • We all share one planet, Earth. It is beautiful and perfect. This song shows that we all share and use the same land and that we are all connected to eachother and to the animals, plants, ect. We must respect all. No one person owns all the land, it's all of ours to enjoy no matter what race you are.
