This is indeed Sehgal's masterpiece. But don't forget the contributions of the lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri and the music composer Naushad. It was the first film Majrooh wrote songs for. The producer approached Jigar Muradabadi for lyrics, but Jigar assigned the job to his disciple Majrooh. What a great judgement on the part of the great poet Jigar!

i am not indian nor paki, from my chilshood i used to listen to this song!! a few years ago when i visited india and learnt little bit hindi, know i can understand its meaning, i just can say its a part of my life.
