sweet finds, the oldest cork top bottle i have is a soda jug from 1965, well, it's not that old, history wise, but still a good find though, and those are good finds by the way, may god bless you
You guys are hilarious! I loved watching this dig. Your excitement over the bottles is great, even if they are some common ones. Now go find some nice pontils and dig yerself a Kelly's Old Cabin Bitters while you're at it! Great job guys and happy digging! Keep up the great work ( if you can call it that, I call it lots of fun! ) and put up some more videos for us. Your enthusiasm is highly entertaining and catching! I gotta get out and dig once Spring gets here.
Nice video and you tube channel!! Checking stuff out. ;-) We buy/sell/collect/ etc etc.. we have a wide range of stuff as well.. we will check back soon on your channel for updates. ;) ..have a GR8 week.
I would love to bottle hunt with you guys, the excitement is great that you guys show. If your ever up here in Ontario Canada be sure to let me know. >Lloyd<
I have found a few nice bottles while relic hunting up here in Ontario Canada, I found a nice dark green crackel glass cream server, i was happy about that find. Also I found a black porcillin elephant with made in england and 4 numbers on the underbelly of the elephant , I was very surprised at the near perfect condition it is in. I have many more nice finds from pop bottles to medicine bottles to ink wells .I have no idea how to sell the items that I have found, can you offer advice? >Lloyd<
@Glassfromthepast1 We brought a friend for the first time, & that was his first HOODS. Yea, not rare but he was excited. This was our first day opening up this brand new dump & we were like kids in a candy store being detectorists mainly. It's our crazy excitement that helps me get 400,000 views......
Love the camera guys voice, he sounds like an Adam Sandler character. Like that lady on his first CD "why don't you go play with your cock'n balls for awhile"? I realize if you've never listened to it this statement would seem f'ed up, but im willing to take that risk :)
@wilburtrex We were digging L.A. about 1977. Real bad part of town. Two criminal-types leaning against liquor store, watching. They walk over. Uh-oh! "Whatchu diggin'?" "Old bottles." "They worth lotsa money?" "No. That's why people threw them away 100 years ago." (pulling out $50 Hutchison sodas, etc.) Yeah, just trash. Ever dig up a $5,000 whiskey? Just trash! SHNewEngland. Whatchu diggin' trash fo? internationaldave@gmail.com Contact me and say hello. I'll send pics of some trash.
@sunsetretreatsxm The U.S. isn't 500 years old. Pick up a history book. I'm new to this. Starting in 1968 and a charter member of a bottle club (1968). A 100 year old bottle, then, was 1868. Pretty nice. SHNewEngland pulled a 200 year old coin up. Not old enough I suppose. I detected a 168 year old large cent. Not old enough? I have detected over 100 pounds of newer, common coins. Not enough? The silver/gold coins weigh out to over $17,000. Still not enough? I'm just gonna hafta try harder.
Just saw some of your videos today all very good and im glad you guys all having such a good time. Nothing better than unearthing something that hasnt seen daylight in so many years. Keep up the good finds! Makes me want to find a good spot to dig and I will someday. HH
@SUNSETRETREATSXM I just love idiot comments. We just love diggin' & since your from Europe I wouldn't expect U to understand that we don't have 500 year old bottles here........
@SHNewEngland A bottle doesn't have to be 500 years old to be valuable, that cobalt blue bottle he found. Could be worth 10 times what a 500 year old is worth!
@SHNewEngland its just a lot of fun - and -pretty good exercise....definitely different muscles than detecting- plus there are bottles worth in the thousands - just like detecting- you never know what will turn up - old relics and coins turn up quite a bit in dumps if you have a good eye....
wonder what some of the viewers think about your can-dumping (as its called) video...
nothing better then first finding a bottle and then the susprnse to see if its still complete, especially blue poisons, pot lids, dolls heads and earthen ware ginger beers.
I was wondering how to find a good location to dig for bottles. I wanted to dig in a area where there used to be old mills on one side(recently demolished) a river, pond in the middle and rail road tracks crossing the river.I was thinking that maybe there would be bottles on the banks in that area. What would I look for as a indication of where the bottles would be.And in other areas the water has all evaporated would that also be a good site to check out.?Any info would be great.
I live in Canada near Cobalt Ont. lots of good digging here being a silver town that boomed in around 1906 , some people just don't understand the excitement of digging up a piece of history that has been buried in the ground for a century, not to mention it can take a lot of reading and research where to dig, I just love it, thanks for posting this vid.
@wyrmwoodnh Thanks! We have a bottle club here in RI. & you should check the internet for a club in NH. Or perhaps you can check for some bottle digging message boards or forums online & find a diggin buddy nearby that way.....good luck- Bill
Bill, you guys are having way too muc fun....Congrats on some super bottle finds, spittoon and pipe bowl. I look forward to seeing part 2 of the adventure!
@MickTwin Hey Thanks- That's a perfect way to describe us & our excitement. Large ash dumps like this that are easy to dig & still producing after folks dug there in the 70's & 80's always get us going......
@thirdphaseofmoon Thanks alot. I love your Hawaii videos. Far better film making than us....but hopefully we make up for it with our excitement :) Not sure what/where the bottle vid. contest is.....
Thanks for getting back to me. Please use some time on next video to show the cleaned up finds and read off more of the embossing, making some comments on the maker, etc. Really fascinating part of American archeology! Thanks for posting and looking forward to you next video!..Roy Lewis Atlanta, GA USA
They are still embossing today, so it's alot easier for us to look to see if it's been blown in a mold or made in the 20's & up by an automatic bottle machine (ABM). We used the term ABM in the video, but most all bottles seen were blown.....
I use to live where we had a civil war battle we use to find bottles like those all the time we hardly dug for them. I think the bottles are better to find than coins the bottles are amazing cause it is so incredible they survived this long. That chamber pot is worth some bank it is artistic and hand made took some skill to build.Yall had too much fun.
That looks like so much fun!! I love the cobalt blues, simply gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this awesome video, keep up the good "work", and keep the vids comin! Oh BTW, is there a link to either of your Antiques Roadshow appearances? I'm a huge roadshow fan, and I've never seen your clips, or they were too long ago for me to remember them.
I was on the Roadshow on the 1999 Providence, RI episode part 1 with the slave tags. Not sure if they have put old shows on DVD's yet? I just have it on VHS with no idea how to get it online- but I'd love to. Thanks for watching.
