It was the first concert I ever went to and my Mom took me I was 8 years old and loved every minute of it. I even still have the program from the concert that has pretty cool pic's of the boys.
I was there with my little brother and a girlfriend. I was 11 and he was 9 and she was 13. I still have m ticket stub too. Yes, it was fabulous for us kids! Hard to hear, but fabulous! I don't blame them for getting out of the touring end of the business. Beatles Rule!!!
You couldn't hear the songs but it was fabulous? So you really just went to look at them then? That's why they stopped touring was because of fans like you.
the event was fabulous AND we couldn't hear anything. not cause and effect there. We did not go there just to look at them, just turned out that way. your conclusion is faulty based on evidence at hand :-)
My conclusion is based on YOUR commentary! Would you watch a movie with the sound turned off? Of course with the weak amplication it's not your fault you couldn't hear...your describing the scenes around you as fabulous....not the music you heard. For a concert to have any worth for me, I have to hear the music.
@cumbco hes reminising, it was historic and the greatest band ever...at the time it must have sucked not hearing them but you can see why he would say fabulous for the concert...unless you dont like beatles
I was only thirteen and my best friend's mom paid for my ticket, and took us to see the Beatles that day. We got there about 2pm and I saw a guy that kind of looked like John, but a little bit chubby. I was there when he was asked to be a decoy in a limousine. That steered the awaiting fans in a different direction and the Beatles came to the stadium through another avenue. I'd like to thank all you for this post, and to the person with the song list.
Oh how I wanted to go to this. I was 14 and living in Upland. I tried like hell to get my two older brothers to go but my oldest (18 at the time) said we'll go see them next year. Ahhhhhh. I was bitterly disappointed as I didn't get to see them at the Bowl the year before. One of my biggest regrets as a teenager. I also would love to have seen The Stones at the Swing Auditorium in '64 or at the Bowl the summer of '66 with The Buffalo Springfield...oh well
msongs nice narration....I was there too. 1. Rock n' Roll Music 2. She's A Woman 3. Baby's In Black 4. If I Needed Someone 5. Day Tripper 6. Nowhere Man 7. I Feel Fine 8. Yesterday 9. I Wanna be Your Man 10. Paperback Writer 11. Long Tall Sally They came onstage at 9:30 (right after the Ronnetts) and were off and finished by 10:03pm.
Hi Msongs...Nce clip...I too was there, along with the drummer in my band _"The Blooomin' Flowers" (nice at the time)...we happened to be at Wallach's Music City in torrance a few weeks prior to the concert, and saw they stillhad tickets avialable..and on impulse we got 2 tickets...till this day..a great decision !!
I was there too. 4th row, dead center. My dad drove my sister, cousin, my best friend and myself to Dodger Stadium and picked us up in the parking lot afterward. I was at the Hollywood Bowl the year before, but this one, being the next to the last concert they ever gave, was the most special. I remember it as if it were yesterday. Thanks for sharing your memories. The way you described it is exactly how it was. Thanks my friend.
Thanx for sharing that. That is an interesting piece of history.
Someone told me they saw the Beatles perform in Philadelphia, Veteran's Stadium I think, maybe JFK Stadium, but he said a plane flew over and John Lennon pretended he was shooting it down with his guitar, making a machine gun sound by dragging his finger down the frets.
I was there when I was 12. A friends dad owned city parking lots and was given a bunch of tickets. I remember you couldn't really hear much because of all the screaming. There seemed like there was 20 opening acts and the Beatles only played for less than 30 minutes. It was crazy after the concert because we all hung out to try and see them.
Beatle Hello! I WAS THERE TOO!! I was only 12 years old and my memories are just as vivid as yours and just as memorable! As of this day, I STILL attend Beatle Tribute Shows and Mark Lapidos Fest For Beatles Fans every year! Perhaps we will meet one day at The Fest!! All You Need Is Love, Beatle Tari Los Angeles, CA Hope someday to meet you there! All you need is love, Tari/Los Angeles, CA
How cool! I was a month before my seventh birthday when my family went. I have my own memories of this show at denniscatrondotcom/gigsdothtml if you'd like a look. Thanks again!!!
Thank you for sharing this with us! I was there, too! We had our seats on the field section (yellow level), far right field, 5th row from the lobby. I was 13 years old then, and it was one of the coolest events I've experienced during my lifetime.
I was soooo there too! $6.00 tickets and Paul waved at me!

Hey msongs
The article that you posted got it wrong.
They belted out 11 songs: (not 10).
YOU, my friend, have given us all something very special here.
Nice presentation and great photos to go along with your awesome narration.
My best to you and yours.
