This is a fabulous performance. I've been so passionate about Chopin, and now even more because of the way you play. I would be most grateful if you would, please, play Ballade n°4 en fa mineur, op.52. It's one of those pieces that brushes my heart with such delicacy. I wish you the best of luck, madam. Never stop fascinating us because you never cease to amaze :)
this is just so beautiful. my grandmother used to play this on her piano, and you are just so emotionally involved in the song, that when i close my eyes, its almost like i can hear her playing it.
I am trying to learn this piece....going OK! The first page is manageable, after that it just gets more tricky. I don't think I will be able to do the key change though - too confusing!!
@bcerochford in my opinion, the DETAILS in the first page are a bit more difficult than those easier other pages...i was procrastinating so that i wouldnt have to play that major area...

I love your playing so much, you have changed my life with your otherworldly passion. I only wish that I could reach such fantastic levels with my playing. I think it would be great if you could play Rachmaninoff's third piano concerto because to hear you playing it would be amazing. Also how many hours of practice a day do you think that I should practice piano for a 15 year old aspiring concert pianist. Thank you
@piano1996No1 Hi! I am also 15 years old and I am very much inspired by this piece and many others played by this musician. I would personally recommend around 2 hours a day, considering you go to school... God bless.

QUESTIONS regarding on Pedaling for this piece, my piano teacher didnt want to teach me this.
On the 2nd bar of this, the one that starts with a C sharp, then G# C# E x2. I see that the LED goes with the Csharp and a sign that goes at the 2nd G#C#E Do i let go of my sustain pedal at the point before i play the 2nd G#C#E ?
And also, how do i use the una corda pedal for this piece?
Appreciate if anyone can advice me =), im just a total noob
@TheAshKane well theashkane i can't find that part you are asking for help is. but i can tell you this i don't care where the pedal marks are i just make my own pedal marks it feels better when i make my own pedal marks.
but if your teacher said not to you are going to have to. but if you can tell me where it is like on the second staff or third measure that would help alot. and you r not a total noob
@MegaCooler12345 Thank you but everything seems not right when im playing the piece, i am talking about the 3rd staff at the 2nd measure and so on, i understood that most of the pedalling style goes the same as the 2nd measure. But am confuse whether i should let go immediately after i play the 3rd staff?

@claudius631 And you're one to judge. Yes her technique is spot on, impeccable precision, but only a jealous troll would reject to hear the soul in this performance.
@xAnonymousss Exactly my point. Ms. Lisitsa's interpretation is full of it and you are too ignorant to perceive it. Take it from someone who can play the piece.
@claudius631 The arrogance of that statement made me nauseous. "You are not able to interpret Chopin"? Who the hell are you to decide how Chopin should be interpreted? If you don't like the way she plays, fine, you're entitled to your opinion. But how *dare* you presume to be be the one who solely knows how Chopin *should* be interpreted. There is no "should be interpreted". There is only how you wish him to be interpreted.
@claudius631 you are full of bullshit. how could you be the one to decide how Chopin could be interpreted? I don't think you have any knowledge whatsoever. go back to school

You know, New York is cool. It has some nice pianos and people who love classical music and piano performances. If I was a concert pianist, that's where I would want to go. Just saying. :)
I believe the section marked piu moso should be rather allegretto than allegro or presto. It is graceful and should have a lilt to it, but should not be feverish. When it is played very quickly I miss the intimate nature of it which I feel is so important.
I realize many, probably the majority, disagree with me. I played this section slower than the majority, but still flowing.

One of the most beautiful waltzes of Chopin. Beautifully and elegantly performed. Thank you - I need to work on this one myself to make it sound so light and transparent. Valentina, is there going to be a DVD with all Chopin's waltzes played by you?
I've liked this piece from the first time that I had heard it. Thanks for recording it, as I enjoy almost everything that you have so graciously shared with the world on Youtube. You bring a great deal of joy to this us with your performances!
I don't like the b part she's playing in this version. Her technique and the is so sharp it cuts through the sound. I always imagine this waltz in particular to sound like something played out of an old piano in a living room. Guess everything in a concert hall has to be grand. Just my oppinion.
@sweetcharlie63 Well, it's just an oppinion. So you think her technique is very unsharp? How so? Which makes you think her technique is not very good? Why would you think such a thing sweetcharlie67???
I LOVE pianists who play this waltz with vigor and energy. The slow recordings bore me to tears. Rubinstein played it this way as well. Your middle/ending sections were incredible to listen to! Thank you so much for uploading this for us.

One of the most beautiful waltzes of Chopin. Beautifully and elegantly performed. Thank you - I need to work on this one myself to make it sound so light and transparent. Valentina, is there going to be a DVD with all Chopin's waltzes played by you?

I love this piece and don't get me wrong she plays it exquisitely but it sounds a little speeded up;o
who knows it might just be me.
Still great work!!!

I don't like the b part she's playing in this version. Her technique and the is so sharp it cuts through the sound. I always imagine this waltz in particular to sound like something played out of an old piano in a living room. Guess everything in a concert hall has to be grand. Just my oppinion.

@Ianthe22...your 'oppinion' is wrong.
sweetcharlie63 1 year ago
@sweetcharlie63 Well, it's just an oppinion. So you think her technique is very unsharp? How so? Which makes you think her technique is not very good? Why would you think such a thing sweetcharlie67???

I LOVE pianists who play this waltz with vigor and energy. The slow recordings bore me to tears. Rubinstein played it this way as well. Your middle/ending sections were incredible to listen to! Thank you so much for uploading this for us.
