I must admit since i have read the series that i thought the trailer was great but had no information or really anything to make people get interested. As a huge fan of the HG, I hated the trailer. True, Rue's note was very..kinda..impressive (ok not really..), the trailer overall sucked big time. The quality was shitty, it looked like a fan made trailer. The fire looked fake, and overall.. I may not actually see the movie based on the trailer. I'm a huge hunger games fan.. but the trailer really sucked.

I was so dissapointed on the teaser trailer. This was Lionsgate opportunity to grab peoples attention other than the fans.  So far, I like how young Jennifer Lawrence looks based on the age of the book.

I have a weird feeling that the VMAs was like a Capitol Event and the Hunger Games teaser trailer was like a Hunger Games commercial, to promote Capitol people to watch the Hunger Games, which of course isn't really necessary since it's mandatory viewing.

I don't know. The thought just kinda dawned on me. o.O

In my opinion- the less you see of the film in the trailers the more likely you are to see it. I think if someone who didn't know about the Hunger Games watched the teaser trailer, they are most likely to think- "Oh why is she in the woods? Why is there fire? Oh cool she has a weapon" stuff like that. I mean look at Super 8- I had no idea about it. I watched the trailer and it gave f*ck all away. It was a great film, so yeah I love the teaser.

the teaser was a teaser for hunger games fans (who of cause read the books). The movie will be immensly popular anyway. they don't need to make non readers love it just yet. When the movie comes out and everyone loves it there will be millions of people who haven't read the books before and who'll love it. I don't think it's an issue. just enjoy the trailer

Has anyone notice how the VMAs looked like a Capitolian event? I watched the whole event just to see the teaser. Point is, I really saw a bit of Capitol City in it. Weird dresses, lights and colors, shows, people flying. Which made me think that the industry is kind of messed up nowadays, always longing to be visually perfect. It's ironic to see that they decided to put the teaser in an event so Capitol-like.

Well at least they don't force kids to kill themselves.

The optimistic opinion is that the teaser was just a treat for Panemaniacs to get excited about the movie.

The cynical view is that the teaser was placed in the VMAs in order to get Hunger Games fans to watch the VMAs.

Well my sister loved it and she's never read the books. Of course she lives with me and I'm completely obsessed so she isn't totally oblivious to the story. :P But yeah, she thought it was epic and now she actually wants to watch the movie. :)

The first trailers of things usually don't give away too much especially since the hunger games was supposed to be sort of low key until its promoted and advertised. Look at twilight for example.

Well what we saw is exactly what they said they were going to show a teaser NOT a trailer. Teaser are usually less than a minute long and are for people that are familiar with the movie. TRAILERS are for people who have know idea what the movie is about and gives you the gist of the plot to get you to say. I want to see that. Personally I LOVED IT. It showed just enough!
