  • Just watched all 4 parts of this , Bill is a fantastic advert for the tower , i'm visiting the tower next week i hope he still works there i would love to meet him :)

  • Henry VIII, the original Baron Harkonnen :P

  • Highly entertaining, though wildly historically inaccurate!

  • "Promote him now"

  • Thanks for posting these!

  • SUPERB!!!!

  • Bill is a legend, he puts the Great back in Britain

  • i went on his tour to its REALY funny i recomend him ^^ he is the best beefeater evur!

  • Saw this yoeman on NY eve 2011 and he was the best part of the Tower of London experience. Funny and very informative.

  • @MolokoPlus1980 That's because he is.

  • Love his patter. I know there are some good guides around who keep you entertained and keep you informed at the same time. There is a good Duo at Bolsover Castle, Morecame and Wise style. This is the way to guide. Good job Bill,

    .

  • 4:09 (We would)

  • If this is the best humour available on the whole internet, if not the world. It is done with grace style and honesty and the guy and his colleagues are the most decent and genuine people i have met. Anyone who is 'offended' should be ashamed and maybe reflect on what these guys have done in their life.

  • @0MirrorGirl british humor has always been harsher than american humor. I wasn't offended by him and thought he was hilarious. I guess brits have thicker skin (probably due to the weather). ;)

  • @0MirrorGirl He's kidding, playing to the crowd for a reaction and a laugh. Chill out.

  • @0MirrorGirl its the british sense of humour, he's cracking jokes and the tourists are enjoying so he's not doing any harm

  • @BigDaveNeg That's sort of a sad commentary on "British humor." Are you British? It was't my experience when in England that this sort of thing was typical humor.

  • @0MirrorGirl You have a computer in your kitchen?

  • @CockMyRasbah Uhmmm...why? I have a laptop, so if I wanted to work in the kitchen, I guess I could. I feel I'm being set up here...

  • @CockMyRasbah ...I think that went way over MirrorGirl`s head...lol

  • @geroffwitheh Haha, that kind of proves my point. Women shouldn't try and wrap their pretty little heads around sarcastic humour. Bless.

  • This is awesome. This man is a great speaker/teacher. Thanks for uploading.

  • thank you soooo much. thoroughly enjoyed all 4 parts!! my daughter is off to London this coming Sunday. I'm going to tell her about this.

    thanks again!!

  • I really enjoyed these 4 videos. thank you.

  • He could make a killing on the speaking circuit.

  • What a top boy, I would like to engage his services for after dinner speaking!!! Long may you reign sir.

  • HunsV: interesting comment. I plan to fly about 3,500 miles to do so. Bill's humor delivery is absolutely hilarious. Somebody in the movie or film business should try to discover how he was able to put together such a long narrative filled with interesting history and humor.

  • Just watched all 4 videos...this man is brilliant, he should be a history teacher/stand up comedian.

  • i love him, the grumpy old sod.

  • I would pay thousands of dollars and fly eight thousand miles just to see this guy live.

  • Thank you for posting this!!!! Brilliant stuff.

  • I never attended my history class while at school, this was due to the worlds most dull man quoting dates to me. Had this man have been my teacher i belive that I would have picked history as my degree

  • my cheeks hurt( facial !!) ..I laughed so hard..utterly brilliant!

  • Thanks jec0066 for uploading this haven't laughed and learnt so much in years :) and Bill Callaghan is epic. Thanks so much

  • THIS MONSTROSITY........not you. XD

  • Yoda reference! Awesome!

  • Funnily enough, I received PtII first, but had to watch this mans oratory greatness in full. Thank you jec006 for filming and uploading.

    Belly laughs a plenty!

Bill should be on the comedy circuit, his obvious love of history could put him into the Cerebral Comedy branch.

    Great Stuff!

  • enjoyed this very much. Regards.

  • Very entertaining, thanks for sharing.

  • He reminds me of my first GI (that's Gunnery Instructor not an Infrantryman). This breed of man has great presence, is humorous, informative and frightening. One of the really remarkable things about the British Armed Forces and Sergeant Majors in particular (and GIs when they existed at HMS Excellent and other Naval Establishments) is that there are a lot of them. Hurrah for that. And well done Bill Callaghan

  • I can only reiterate previous comments....thanks jec0066 for filming and posting and MANY thanks to Yeoman Warder Bill Callaghan for the most entertainingly historical (or should that be hysterical) tour I've ever seen or watched !!!

I received part 2 via an e-mail link and just had to watch all 4 parts. Thanks again

  • Excellent series of videos, thanks. The warder was brilliant, amusing, entertaining and informative.

  • This Mr. Callaghan has a real knack for teaching and is a great comic.

Could listen and learn all day... Great stuff.

  • Loved this....well done Bill Callaghan !! Credit to the Yeoman guard, the military and the UK.

  • Watching this was superb and the Warder deserves a medal for making history so interesting and funny, next time I go to London I want to go on the tour but only with this Warder. Great Little series Jec0066

  • absolutely fantastic, excellent advert for our boys

  • Bravo!

  • Just magic :) what a fab post and such a character that belongs in a story book :) I wanna meet this man :) and even more want my children too ;) Thanks for sharing!

  • When I went to Dublin June last year, we had a young attractive brunette giving us a Tour of the castle. She was just a as funny. Tour guides like them are legends, and really make the trip worthwhile! :)

  • I was laughing as I watched this, and I wasn't even there! It felt as though I was, though. btw, Callaghan is an Irish name.

  • A fine example of the BEST SOLDIERS IN THE WORLD!!!!

  • Utterly brilliant. This is a true educator who brings history to life and more importantly, understands what really makes people tick.

  • Not a lot of people know this but this Yeoman Warder is Bill Callaghan. He has been told off by the management of the Tower for his non PC manner.

If you like Bill's style drop him a line at the Tower and let him know.

Guys like him need our support.

  • Absolute class. Top man.

  • Its not often you find and Orator and historian of this calibre, not to mention a highly decorated soldier in his own wright...a .bloody genious, history was never my strong point but i have learnt more in these four episodes than i had learnt in many years at the Fagan;s academy the called my school.

Thank you so much for putting this up.

    Respects.

  • brilliant! how tall is this guy??

  • A great guide, makes it entertaining whilst bringing it alive, a chap like this should be teaching history in our schools, may get the youth interested again. thanks for posting.

  • oh i love our great British humour

  • Many, many thanks for posting this set and many, many thanks to Bill Callaghan, long may he continue to entertain visitors to the Tower of London.

It is people like Bill Callaghan that helped put the Great in Britain.

  • Saw him today and had my picture taken with him - thanks for sharing this, I so enjoyed watching all 4 clips!

  • I bet he moonlights as a stand up comic .

    Great entertainer.

  • Brilliant set of videos showing a superb performance, many thanks.

  • Brilliant set of videos showing a superb performance, many thanks.

  • Thanks so much for sharing the wonderful tour. What an absolute treat.

    Tony

  • Simply briliant I wish he ran the country

  • what are the only words the wife are to say at the pub???

  • @speeedskater "more beer dear?"

  • If you do a DVD,I would really like one please!!

  • Okay this is weird! Listen around 01:25 - can anyone else hear whispering?

It's no secret that the Tower of London is extremely haunted.

  • The severed head of a miscreant mounted on a pike staff, being an early bird feeder, was a revelation to me. After serving 25 years and being departed the colours for 10. I had not missed it until watching this excellent banter! Mine is 24337457.

  • Absolutely brilliant, he's a star. Entertaining, engaging and knows how to keep an audiences' attention. What a cracking chap. So enjoyed all four parts, thank you for posting these. I want to go there now!

  • This Yeoman Warder's name is Bill Callaghan - a delightful fellow.

It was a delight to make this series. I may even develop a DVD of it after I learn how to use Apple's Final Cut Studio professional movie software.

    For now, enjoy!

  • @jec0066 Great set of videos. Thank you very much for uploading them. Makes me proud to be British...which is quite rare these days. What a character he is. I'm glad you enjoyed it :0)

  • @jec0066 Thanks for making this dude. Among the most entertaining and informative 44:00 I have watched on YouTube.

  • @jec0066

I had a great day with this Gentleman at the Tower. May I be the first to suggest he receive a knighthood?

  • the epitome of the British Army sergeant Major!

    they are a national treasure...

  • This guy is brilliant. The best You Tube I've seen, well played Sir!

  • Again, love it. Fabulous. Glad you posted it :-)

  • wow dont this guy look like ray winstone x

  • Funny, enjoyable, exceptionally well delivered, etc.

Just historically inaccurate, in places, which is really quite disappointing.

  • actually sad that there is not more than four parts to this.

best thing i've seen in a long time!

  • Brilliant stuff. What a fine example of unbiased wit combined with a great way of making history come to live. Well done to him and well done to jec0066 for filming it and posting it.

  • What a fantastic tour! I watched them all, and have to say that he is awesome. I work in a tudor house and would love to have him come do a talk. WOW, laughed so much throught that, thank you so much for sharing him. xx

  • did the tower a few years ago

our beefeater asked the audience where you were from and noted the mass murders and psychopaths that were from your area

when they found I was from Wisconsin the list he regurgitated seemed endless. He also asked that I stop videotaping him after the first stop Thanks for posting this It brings back some fond memories

  • This guy is GREAT!! I hope that I see him someday. Thank you for posting these; I've seen all four...

  • He did a Yoda impersonation!

  • jec0066, Great series of posts. Been there as well. Also had the tour. These are the best tour guides anywhere. No question!

  • Watched all four parts of this - hysterical stuff.

  • "Graffiti isn't a new problem. Modern Art is a new problem." LOVE IT. YOUTUBE GOLD.

  • * * * * * * * * * *

  • All four parts of this are absolutely superb, engaging, funny and full of historical insight. What a great advert for entertaining teaching. I hope everyone thanked him properly after the recording.

  • Wonderful to watch and see we can still have a a laugh, unfortunately I couldn't get away with most of that where I work, but outside of work, that's another story! There's the mention of American sense of humour against British, listening to the crowd there didn't seem a problem, the Americans seemed to be having a good laugh, I think our sense of humours are very similiar. Thanks for posting.

  • I have been to the Tower! Unfortunately we didn't get this guy! I have just watched all 4 videos, and have laughed so much I feel ill. Thank you for letting us enjoy this wonderful character (with a history lesson thrown in). I will tell all my friends to watch this. Thanks again.

  • This guy is a legend, I have learnt more watching your 4 videos than I ever dud at school, thank you for sharing

  • By Christ he was lovely! Thank you jec0066 for recording all of that. I'm aching from grinning!

  • As a young child I went to the Tower on a school trip, it was sooo boring. Thank you for putting this on YT.... I have watched all 4 of your vids and laughed out loud to all of them.

I am slightly amazed though that no one said thank you, or shook the Yeomans hand; whatever the entry fee is nowadays, that man has singlehandedly made me want to visit the Tower ... this time it would be money well spent.

  • And not one person said "thank you" or offered to shake his hand!

  • And not one person said thank you or offered to shake his hand.

  • this guy is awesome. really enjoyed these videos! best advert for the attraction ever! thomas moore wasn't all good, i must point out - he had people burned for owning a bible in english.

  • I live just ten mins from the tower.. yet still havent been inside since junior school..

  • @hofsteveO you should definately go! There are guides in costume as well as the Beefeaters and a fantastic joust in the moat in August.

  • @hofsteveO Ditto mate - used to live in the Old Kent Road but still work in town and NEVER bothered my arse to get there and do to thing. This will be put right with my missus and kids during the summer tho I think :-)

  • What a great guy.

  • His comic delivery is so good it had me laughing out loud, but there is so much wrong with the history eg. Jane Seymour died 12 days after giving birth (not later that day), in October (not September) 1537, a whole YEAR AND A HALF after the execution of Anne Boleyn, who was accused of adultery with 5 men (not 7) - I could go on! If this excellent orator could marry his comic skills with some actual real history this would be one of the most brilliant tours ever.

  • @zuliana1066 - clown

  • @skiman189 wouldn't you rather he applied his excellent guiding skills to some actual historical facts? The real clowns are the ones who think he should be in charge of British Education. Despite this, I think his tour his brilliant and agree with the people who think he should be on the TV!

  • @zuliana1066 Actually you are wrong as well . Thomas Wyatt was also accused but got away with it . People in glass houses etc

  • @hankham666 Yes indeed, I had forgotten him! I don't think he was actually tried for adultery with her, but he was certainly arrested, you're right. Don't get me wrong, I think the tour is brilliant, I'm just worried that so many people think they've learned some real history from it.

  • @zuliana1066 he's meant to be an 'entertaining guide' not a History teacher - get a life!!

  • Brilliant!

  • He should be in charge of British education.

    Brilliant.

  • Thanks for uploading this brilliant video series (I've just watched all 4 and will view them again next time I want a good laugh) - the warder's delivery and timing was superb better in my opinion than some professional comedians. Brilliant filming too - I've seen worse when a full film crew was used. I feel sure that this will become a YouTube classic.

  • Excellent, thanks for posting. What a great guy.

  • he is absolutely amazing...makes me want to go there and take the tour again. well done for posting these videos. thank you

  • Yep he is good, and so funny. I went on this tour in the 80's but i just might go again see if Bill is there.

  • A great advert for the country and for the British Army. It's men like this who possess great character, personality, humour, intellect, recall and sheer presence that characterise all that's best about the British people. If ever history could be made fascinating and memorable here's the man to teach it. My sides are still hurting from laughter - absolutely unspeakably brilliant.

  • The man is a pedagogic genius. I bet everyone there remembers every part of the history he tought them. Correct and uncensored history at that.

  • @lotusdev

    Whoops - misspelt 'taught'.

  • Thanks for uploading those videos.

There should be more like him.

I wish my history lessons had been like that and I wish I could bellow like him!

  • That was great! watched all four clips back to back, riveting and humorous.

  • we had the pleasure of being invited to the ceremony of the keys, the pub on site is one of the finest in town. sergeant majors, are they still like this?even the ruperts obeyed the sm.superb and refreshingly honest.

  • Absolutely brilliant, thanks for sharing your history with us ;)

  • Fun to watch all four. I had been to The Tower back in 1981.

  • It has always been the Grate that has created the Great in the British.

Outstanding demonstration of what silly, infantile PC attitudes have lost us, thank you

  • 3.40-3.45 had me laughing out loud!

  • Because of these videos, my boyfriend and I are going to the Tower in a few weeks :)

  • This guy tells it as it was!! Funny and endearing!! he can't be paid enough!!

  • love this guy, he reminds me of other British officers i have met

  • Thanks for sharing this, he is brilliant. Love the deadpan - informative and entertaining! Brilliant.

  • And you thought history was boring? History teachers, watch and learn! These vids are also one of the best adverts for a military career I've ever seen. Military life can be tough and, lets face it very dangerous, but as an exercise in character building they're still second to none. I've worked in and with UK military people for years, and can tell you that our armed forces are stuffed full of people like Bill. Teamwork, humour and an underlying sense of fair play are the watchwords. Top stuff!

  • Absolutely brilliant better than the so called comedians that we have on TV now, someone should put on the telly now.

  • This man is truly amazing, I missed him by a whisker last year due to heavy rain at the Tower, not knowing what I missed, how I wished I stood with him.

  • Many Thanks jec0066, outstanding.

  • Thank you for posting these. Have really enjoyed watching them. I wish my history lessons at school had been this entertaining - maybe I would have taken more notice!

  • I`ve watched them all now, the mainstream T.V. people should commission a documentary about this bloke, absolute legend. Top marks for whoever posted it.

  • I made a playlist with all the vids of him I could find! Check my channel for the link, it will not let me post it in comments.

  • outstanding

  • Happy to say Bill returned to work today and will be back on tours tomorrow!

  • thank you for this i don't believe i remember listening to such an interesting piece of history

  • brilliant!!!!!!!!

  • DOOO NOT, UUPSET, THE SOOOLDIERS!!!

    fucking legend of a man.

  • any one know who to ask for when you go on the tour,im going to london in march and want to see this guy

  • @rotationevents Bill Callaghan!

  • @cacecil thank so much

  • Brilliant I will be visiting once again...

  • brilliant, thankyou for sharing these vids. 10/10

  • Brilliant I will be visiting oncwe again...

  • What did Monty Python know ?

    He is Super

  • If Snape was a Beefeater... :D

  • So very good, he must tour the Schools of England and educate our young clearly and in good spirit.

  • this guy is amazing. made a subject which I don't really care about really interesting. great sense of humor.

  • This is the only thing I have ever seen that's made me want to go to London, and it may be the only thing I need to see to make me do such a thing.

  • This is the only thing I have ever seen that's made me want to go to London, and it may be the only thing I need to see to make me do such a thing.

  • Excellent

  • absolute awesome, my kind of narrative....thanks for posting this up !!

  • ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT ...What aq star he is, I hope his sense of humore is appriciated and does not get him in 'A floaty poo moat, wthout a paddle' (if you watch the earlier posts of his, you will understand the comment about poo) .. As said already a legend and absolutely brilliant ..Loved it and laughed alot :0)x

  • @wenglishsal .. Laughin' so much I can't type properly SORRY, but a Massive thank you to @jec0066 for posting these and showing us what an absolutelstar this Yeoman is... I have saved them on my page and also shared with my facebook friends, that's how much I love these posts ...

I would pay good 'money of the realm', to watch him conduct a tour...

Best regards from Wales UK :0)x

  • Brilliant stuff

  • If he narrated a series of audio-books on history. I'd buy them.

  • This was ace, thanks for putting it up.

  • @kenhol44 *watches again* gah. you're right. kinda disappointed it wasn't 'jews' though.

  • i love the final 'jews, jews.' bit just to round off the insults.

  • this is how history should be taught

  • What an amazing chap.

  • Wow....thanks to all for your many kind comments. This fellow was so funny we could hardly stop laughing! I just returned from a trip and will try to post replies to many of your comments. I guess I need to make a DVD of the series!

  • @jec0066 Thank you so very much for posting all 4 parts of your tour... I have pasted them on my facebook pge for all my friends to enjoy... He is BRILLIANT and I would definitely pay, to tour the Tower of London with him as the guide... SIMPLY BRILLIANT, WITTY and VERY FUNNY... :0)X
