Have you heard the Unleashed In The East version? If you haven't then you should probably hold your opinion until you check that out. I think that the Unleashed version of this song is absolutely definitive. No contest.

@nastUnkArock Well, it's obvious that you at least thought the Unleashed version was good. I think that what happened here was Rob was feeling extremely comfortable and actually expressing HIMSELF rather than putting on the whole Metal God persona. Rob is at his best when he's like this. It's only fitting that Rob puts a bit of drama into the song. He has always loved theater and opera, so that sets him apart in many ways. Do realize that this is a CLOSE second to the Unleashed version for me.

I mean Baez original, and some other covers were good, but only priest gave it this magic atmosphere, this thing don't know how to name it, but Halford is just so convincing singing it, more convincing than Baez, like Jimie Hendrix was more convincing performing "Along the watchtower" than Dylan itself, both Diamonds and Rust and All along the watchtower gain new value, with these covers

Probably singing from his chest more, something he usually doesn't do much cause, with the high notes he has to hit, head voice is the best option and the transition from chest to head can be choppy or just weird.
