well done! one of my fav hymns, esp. b/c its by Luther. you cleverly managed to keep the good original tune but with an fresh twist to it :D that is not an easy thing to do! very well done!
Awesome! I am working on the National Day of Prayer for my church and this is their theme this year! I hope to have our praise team worship like this!!
Thanks so much. I love the lyrics and the melody of this song but it has been too difficult to do. I found this version and immediately took it to my congregation. It worked beautifully!!! Thanks brother!
mhiof-- I'm kind of taken aback that someone who leads the music (I guess that's what you mean when you say you "lead worship") has never heard of "A Mighty Fortress"-- one of the oldest Christian songs, right from the Reformation.
come to my channel and have a look to my old-fashioned (german) accordion version "Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott" - guess it's close to the original sheets within different speeds and registers / moods. I'm sure you'll like it too.
That's a good arrangement! One of the things I really like about the traditional hymns is that you can arrange them in just about any style you like, as long as the original melody is maintained. Your arrangement would also sound great with a B3 Hammond organ in the background. Thanks for posting.
I applaud your efforts, especially your choice of (arguably) the greatest hymn ever written. Although I like a lot of contemporary Christian music, I'm also a firm believer that some hymns/songs MUST be sung to the organ, and this is the hymn usually mentioned in such conversations. Keep up the good, though!
Well bloody done. I thought this was going to be crap because typically when people try to do something like this it ends up with no bite at all but the chord voicings you used kept that in there even with your softer pure vocal tone. Kudos and a golden smiley face sticker for you friend. If you don't mind I would very much like to have a crack at this version with a few of my own ideas for instrumentation and such. I'll send it to you and see what you think, if I ever get around to it that is.
Very good, very fresh, very lively!! you can go far with this rendition nowadays. Do you have this version published? I strongly recommend that you get this version published.
Nice job! We do a version which starts off with a traditional organ sound for the first verse then goes comtemporary for the rest of the song. Its a great arrangement. I really like yours though! Keep fighting the good fight.
I so love this! I grew up in the Lutheran church.

Yeah, this was cool.
Nice camera angle. In some videos, it's like "Dude, get out of my face!"
Anyway, yeah good arrangement.
