lmao the karate kid movies were so unrealistic and cheesy. All of the fighters Daniel faced were clearly superior, in yet he "somehow" manages to defeat them LOL. You know in real life this kind of crap wouldn't happen. They would seen the crane kick coming in the first, and this guy would have finished him way before Daniel could even got the opportunity to do his gay little flip. CHEESY. only in hollywood can this happen LOL>
Someone obviously doesn't get the point of the movies; The karate side of the show is intended for entertainment not for realism. However you see there's more than what meets the eye:
Movie 1: In the movie he hurts his leg; this can be symbolically tied to hardships people encounter in life where people would want to give up after being hurt, but it shows that we must carry on and never give up otherwise live in fear and torment.
@TheCassyJenelle lmao still unrealistic. I mean really, johnny could have won that fight at any time. He was clearly the superior fighter. They just had to add the "motivational" miracles at the end. The Karate Kid 2010 at least I awas convinced that Dre Parker was actually AS GOOD, if not better than those he fought. The fights were convincing. lol ...sorry but only Karate Kid 1980's version fanboys and girls wouldn't be able to see past the corny victories.
Movie 2: Miyagi teaches Daniel to forgive and let live, this is first not understandable to Daniel. Then it shows Chozen is so filled with revenge and hatred in his heart, he ends up betraying his Uncle and ruining his own life. The Drum technique, which can also be also converted to non-fighting means is "Defence is the best offence" - Don't actively seek fights or conflict, but defend yourself from them.
Daniel was so angry and frustrated with Mike that he became another person; stealing, using dirty techniques, and punching a man. However he was so blinded by his anger he was not aware he was being tricked, also he lost sight on what was going on.
Mike was so angry and unfocused he was too into causing Daniel pain to realize that the more focused Daniel was now the one in control, now that he didn't fear him.
@EyeLoveTheStars Oh, I think it's totally realistic. I think Daniel would be the better fighter because he knows what's important, not only concerning Karate but Life. He had the best teacher though.^^
@Crabbiy lmao dude c'mon. During that spree where Johnny beta the hell out of him he could have scored at any time and won the match. Johnny was just arrogant, which led to carelessness on his part. Trust me, I've taken Karate and been in tournaments where I've been arrogant and my opponent scored points he should haven't scored. But when I stopped being careless I whooped him the rest of the match. Ultimately, Daniel wasn't the better fighter. lol.
@TheWilliam0737 in some ways, but in Johnny's case I meant only towards the beginning of the fight. Towards the end when he started to beat the hell out of Larusso that was because he was truly better and he showed it. He was toying with Daniel. He could have scored and won during any time of that flurry lol. The Karate Kid 2010 was just much more convincing (and exciting) fight wise because I felt as if Dre Parker was truly as good as or better than those he fought.
@TheWilliam0737 And I'm a big fan of the 1984 Karate Kid. I can also bet that the 2012 Karate Kid or 2013, whenever they make the sequel, will be tons better than the second Karate Kid which was horrible. and don't even ask me about the third and fourth with Hillary Swank.
@EyeLoveTheStars Don't get me wrong, I mean Mike, Chozen and Johnny...they should be better than Daniel because they had more time to train, they started doing Karate way before. But Daniel has something they lack. He is more focused when it all comes down. He trusts the quality of what he knows, not the quantity (quote from Karate Kid 1^^). In the right moment, he knows what matters and that's what his opponents never learned or what they forgot. It's what makes him better. That's what I think.
hooooooooooooold on...... he fought in mr miyagi's home town to the death against someone who probably was bettert karate than that bloke and he won but he cant win in a tournament easily??
We know what happened in the parking lot after the first Karate Kid but what happened in the parking lot after this? I think Kreese, and Silver beat the ever loving hell out of Mike Barnes. This time Miyagi let it happen, and he headed to the car with Danielson. Kreese and Silver finished off Barnes, and came after Miyagi who cleaned their clocks as he had earlier in the film. This time he broke bones. Eventually he got Sato to destroy Silvers business empire.
I love how in the first two movies, Daniel had a love interest. But for the third one they finally wised up and realized that the real love story is the one between Daniel and Mr. Miagi.
Very few movies will ever top the 1980's and early 1990's. Remakes cannot compete against them and definitely today's movies with mentally retarded people and stories like "Eminem's" 8-mile sicken me. All said.
@Feerulace. Hollywood has looted comic book stores and are overloading on prequels, sequels, and remakes. The fact the classic Point Break might be remade is disgusting.
I sort of think if they had combined the epic conversation here between daniel and miyagi and their hug at the end with the first movie that would have been amazing. I always thought the end of the first one could have been made more of. Imagine after Johnny goes for his injured leg, he then has the conversation with Miyagi that you see her, then the crane kick and it ends with johnny giving him the trophy, then they hug like here.....
Daniel is such a puss......barnes should've roundhoused him to the face when he started that stupid kata dance in the end... That would've made the movie so much better
I love this part of the movie!!! I got chills when Miyagi screamed at Daniel!!!! I did the first time i saw it in 89' when i was 15 and still do today at 37. Classic scene for a mostly forgettable movie otherwise
@womblewandering Your right the music made aHUGE difference!!! I really enjoyed this one even though it got mostly bad reviews. In my opinion it was better than Part 2 but because of some rather bad acting & dancing lol, I think alot of ppl were burnt out on the series at this point.I'd like to see another installment with Daniel training a kid.I've actually considered writing a script myself a couple times lol
Yeah this was better than part 2. You are right, maybe people did get bored by 3. lol
I loved it thoguh. Loved it in the cinema and love it now.
Hey daniel training a kid would be interesting. Im a screenwriter too. Havent sold anything but i do write and send them off. Have you ever written anything? I didnt like the remake though
@hunkallgood73 That would be awsome if you could get Ralph Macchio to do that, he could use his son as the kid he trains, it could be like he finds out his son is being bullied and Daniel remembers how bad it felt when it happened to him, and he witnesses his son getting his ass kicked and jumps in. Then tells his son he was trained karate when he was a teen and he would teach him everything he was taught. Just a thought.
I don't mind the Daniels Karate, i think in the whole movie the fight was right, but why the new tournament rule, it just make unepic the tournament. They could easily make him fight a lot more and show some epic.
loool who's pep talk actually worked. miyagis or barnes??? they had to light some fire under dannys ass. this is one of my favorite get crunk movie scenes. danny got his gangsta on with the kata lol. i bet barnes won't talk about miyagi again loool.
The revenge set-up is what made this movie decent. It made you hate Terry Silver and kinda like him at the same time when Daniel breaks the entire wooden statue thing (best part of the movie).
But the ending... I mean, at least give us some tournament footage. It almost goes straight to the finals. I know they were probably pressed for time, but they could've cut out some of the scenes with Daniel and the girl, since she didn't give him no booty anyway... again.
This ending was so laughable. I mean in KK2, Daniel took on Chozen in a death match. He should've developed as a fighter, not turn into a huge pansy. Here he just beats Barnes because the script demanded it. I haven't studied martial arts since I was 15, but I don't recall Kata being a hypnotic dance that confuses the opponent.
@howardgarbo Barnes is a competitor. It's very unlikely he would have known what kata is because it's not likely it's ever been used against him. Therefore, when Daniel used it, Barnes didn't know what to do.
@howardgarbo LOL exactly... in Karate Kid 1 he fights for respect... in Karate Kid 2 he fights for his life... in Karate Kid 3 he fights.... just because... and his opponents could have easily kicked his ass while he was doing his Kata. He went from fighting for his life to being a little bitch
I would wanna be trained at cobra kai even if daniel won.....especially when I saw the little girl crying when he was afraid....this tourney he was in is a joke, the ref should have given the win to the other guy
How could he be afraid of that guy when he won the tournament in the 1st movie and literally won a life or death fight in the 2nd movie? I'm not saying that he should be some badass but they should have made him some what confident. It's like the character hasn't changed since the 1st movie. I guess they wanted to cash in on this movie by using a similar format as the 1st one.
It's a shame that ralph macchio didn't try to do a kk pt 5. Even without pat morita they could have made a film when Daniel is older and teaching someone, or something.
It would have been much better than the one with that lame-ass black kid. ( whatever his name is).
Many critics said horrible things about this film but I totally disagree. Karate Kid 3 was as great as previous two films. Ralph macchio and Pat Morita were brilliant as always. Plus it was interesting to see Robyn Lively here. Her film "Teen Witch" was released the same year. She is my favorite Macchio's screen girlfriend in this franchise. Thomas Ian Griffith, Martin Kove and Sean Kanan were great bad guys but I still expected better final scene - not just one punch from LaRusso
I saw all those trophies sitting on the table from 2:11-2:38 but, I wonder why it never showed any of the judges giving a trophy to Daniel since Daniel won the tournament. (It couldn't of been a deleted scene or something if Daniel got a trophy or was rewarded for winning). It was great to see Daniel getting a trophy on the first film but, I wonder why it never showed why Daniel wasn't handed a trophy or if he got rewarded in any way for winning the tournament.
I love it at 2:04 seeing the look on Terry Silver's face before walking away like he was saying "I quit being a karate teacher" or he was saying "no matter how hard we try, we are never able to make Daniel LaRusso lose a tournament since Mr. Miyagi is a better karate teacher than us." (I guess the Cobra Kai dojo is now going to go out of business forever even though it was already out of business since the crowd knows they are no good and the crowd knows how bad they are to students).
On one of the Karate Kid 3 end fights on YouTube, someone mentioned that after Daniel won the tournament that Mike Barnes was clapping for Daniel too. Does anyone know where Mike Barnes was clapping after losing? All I was able to see was Mike Barnes hitting the floor with anger from 2:03-2:04 and then from 2:11-2:12 all I was able to see was Mike Barnes getting up off the floor and walking away but, I couldn't find the spot where/if he clapped for Daniel once Daniel won.
@eddiealexxy My guess is that John Kreese, Terry Silver, and Mike Barnes wouldn't be bothering Daniel anymore because, Terry Silver told Daniel the simple agenda that Daniel either fights one fight on one day (at the tournament) or he fights everyday for the rest of his life. So Daniel showed up at the tournament to fight that one fight at the tournament, so they shouldn't be bothering Daniel ever again.
@HiddenBeauty I might be wrong but, I don't think Daniel went to college because, on the second film when Mr. Miyagi told him that it's expensive for him to go to Okinawa where he told Daniel to save his money for college and Daniel told him that he's more important to him than college or getting a job. Also here on this film, he mentioned to Mr. Miyagi that he needs a break from school so he became Mr. Miyagi's new partner in the banzai shop.
its all a matter of opinion i was pissed when i saw the trailer and pissed that they might ruin the oringinal, but i actually liked it and i know a lot of people that did too. i LOVE the originals always have and always will. but the original was always lacking when it came to fighting, even in the last film daniel barely showed any change in fighting he always seemed weak, it was the only bad thing about the originals.
Hey Daniel make a wish. Mike breaks the Bonsai tree like a wishbone. That part was hilarious. Mike without a doubt is one of the best villains in any movie. From the punchlines to beating Daniel up. There is no way he would have lost that match. Mike Barnes rules!
What I didn't like about the 3rd movie was that they made Daniel look like a complete loser in the final fight. In the 2nd movie, Daniel fought and defeated Chozen in a BATTLE TO THE DEATH. How is it possible that he's scared to face Barnes in this movie?
@PrinceLuis100 Exactly my point, it annoys me and humors me at the same time. And if thats his best karate from inside then he's fucked! he taps barns to the body, it annoys him more than hurts. And if it wasnt the fact he's just lost and there no point, barns could just get up and walk over to daniel and beat on him some more. But still, a great film and superb final scene!!!
Daniel was doing Kata at the end. Note that Daniel had only been practicing karate for a little more than a year (14 months; note that in the first movie, Miyagi saved Daniel from "2 months of beating"). Barnes, Chozen, and Johnny had likely been fighting and training for ten years or more. Mr. Miyagi is the best fighter, and the best teacher, as shown by his fighting, and Daniel's fighting. The fact that Daniel won any of these matches is a testament to Mr. Miyagi.
TO THOSE STUPID PEOPLE THAT DONT KNOW WHAT DANIEL WAS DOING AT 1:30. ITS NOT RANDAM STUFF, OR SILLY RANDOM MOVEMENTS. ITS CALLED KATA, ITS A JAPANESE FORM OF MARITIAL ARTS PRACTICE.
@trevorh321, those silly hand movements is called Kata. Its a Japanese form of martial arts practice. Silly boy. Do your research before you comment. .. you sound stupid and ignorant.
For me this is by far the worst of the Karate Kid movies. Deficient in humour, one disaster after another, annoying one-dimensional characters, terrible script, bad acting. It's just a train wreck compared to the other KK movies.
Can you be more epic than Mr. Miyagi? I mean look at his fucking face when he just stares! You don't wanna fuck with him. RIP Pat Morita! We love you!
This is simply an epic film filled with beautiful filming and acting with many life messages but I admit I feel abit dissapointed with this scene. Here Daniel was completely and utterly helpless. Realistically if Mike didn't wish to play around with Daniel he would've lost easily. I wish in the beginning Daniel was slightly helpless than there was a flashback of Miyagi's teachings enabling him to kick Mikes ass.
Can u imagine if this was real and someone recorded that convo with miyagi and daniel crying about how afraid he was and they posted it on youtube. That thing would go viral in minutes.
OMG!!! Yes I am admitting I am an idiot!!! It ONLy took me over 20+ yrs to figure out that the guy who looked familiar (Daniels' opponant) was Deacon Sharpe from Y$R and B&B!!!! DUH!!!!!!!!!!
That was really terrible. Danny starts doing a series of silly hand movements? LOL And that throws his clearly superior opponent so off-balance that he loses? I had to laugh. It was silly. At least in the first film, the fights seemed more realistic.
@trevorh321 Someone actually argued that this situation could actually happen in a real karate tournament, believing that a kata would actually be useful. I laughed in his face.
@Piergiovanni it`s all about chemistry between actors... the chemistry between Machio and Pat Morita was GREAT!! on the other hand there was no feeling between Smith and Chan... i like the kid but he was a bad choice for this character
the big mistke was making the movie revolve around kids... they should have used older guys
the whole kiddie stuff was a mistake...
imagine Chan working with a guy the age of Daniel in part1... that would have turned the remake around...
lol why is it that daniel didn't fight as good as he did in the other movies until the very last move of the movie lol I mean I understand this movie would be lame if he just beat up everyone the whole time but he should have had SOME chance
@FEARfilmz The bad guy, the crazy rich polluter, taught him "bad" karate and that threw him off until Miyagi told him to revert to how he usually fought, that's how I took it.
Sorry if my english isn't perfect. I'm from germany^^

Miyagi is a better karate teacher than us." (I guess the Cobra Kai dojo is now going to go out of business forever even though it was already out of business since the crowd knows they are no good and the crowd knows how bad they are to students).
afriendofbean 7 months ago
On one of the Karate Kid 3 end fights on YouTube, someone mentioned that after Daniel won the tournament that Mike Barnes was clapping for Daniel too. Does anyone know where Mike Barnes was clapping after losing? All I was able to see was Mike Barnes hitting the floor with anger from 2:03-2:04 and then from 2:11-2:12 all I was able to see was Mike Barnes getting up off the floor and walking away but, I couldn't find the spot where/if he clapped for Daniel once Daniel won.
afriendofbean 7 months ago
@eddiealexxy My guess is that John Kreese, Terry Silver, and Mike Barnes wouldn't be bothering Daniel anymore because, Terry Silver told Daniel the simple agenda that Daniel either fights one fight on one day (at the tournament) or he fights everyday for the rest of his life. So Daniel showed up at the tournament to fight that one fight at the tournament, so they shouldn't be bothering Daniel ever again.
afriendofbean 7 months ago
@HiddenBeauty I might be wrong but, I don't think Daniel went to college because, on the second film when Mr. Miyagi told him that it's expensive for him to go to Okinawa where he told Daniel to save his money for college and Daniel told him that he's more important to him than college or getting a job. Also here on this film, he mentioned to Mr. Miyagi that he needs a break from school so he became Mr. Miyagi's new partner in the banzai shop.

fight-wise 2010 movie is better, story-wise, the trilogy is better...

I didn't think the 2010? movie was that good at all. The 1984 version was better. And I've heard the same.

its all a matter of opinion i was pissed when i saw the trailer and pissed that they might ruin the oringinal, but i actually liked it and i know a lot of people that did too. i LOVE the originals always have and always will. but the original was always lacking when it came to fighting, even in the last film daniel barely showed any change in fighting he always seemed weak, it was the only bad thing about the originals.

PrinceLuis100 8 months ago

Miyagi.

For me this is by far the worst of the Karate Kid movies. Deficient in humour, one disaster after another, annoying one-dimensional characters, terrible script, bad acting. It's just a train wreck compared to the other KK movies.

hankheavy 10 months ago 2
This is simply an epic film filled with beautiful filming and acting with many life messages but I admit I feel abit dissapointed with this scene. Here Daniel was completely and utterly helpless. Realistically if Mike didn't wish to play around with Daniel he would've lost easily. I wish in the beginning Daniel was slightly helpless than there was a flashback of Miyagi's teachings enabling him to kick Mikes ass.

That was really terrible. Danny starts doing a series of silly hand movements? LOL And that throws his clearly superior opponent so off-balance that he loses? I had to laugh. It was silly. At least in the first film, the fights seemed more realistic.
trevorh321 1 year ago
@trevorh321 Someone actually argued that this situation could actually happen in a real karate tournament, believing that a kata would actually be useful. I laughed in his face.

Piergiovanni 1 year ago
@Piergiovanni it`s all about chemistry between actors... the chemistry between Machio and Pat Morita was GREAT!! on the other hand there was no feeling between Smith and Chan... i like the kid but he was a bad choice for this character
the big mistke was making the movie revolve around kids... they should have used older guys
the whole kiddie stuff was a mistake...
imagine Chan working with a guy the age of Daniel in part1... that would have turned the remake around...
