@seraph821 We all live in the flesh as long as we are here on this earth. Just the way we are made. If you read the bible it says that in Romans 12:2 it says And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. We should always care for others. If your not saved then You dont have the spirit of God in you. Some christians dont live for God. This world has sadly turn there backs.
We all sin everyday. It was the way we are made. The bible teaches you right from wrong. And when you ask God in your heart. He takes care of your choices. You ask for forgiveness and God will forgive you but you should repent of your sin and keep tryin to do the will of God. Romans 3:23. We all are equal as humans. But if you have God in your heart and you believe in him he will guide you to do the right things instead of makin the wrong ones.
@AshleyDanielle91 But as far as I can tell, the average "saved" christian makes the exact same choices as every other average decent human being, regardless of their religion or lack-thereof. You don't need god to be a nice person who does their best to avoid harming others. It's actually far more satisfying when you recognize that you are doing it by your own power than convincing yourself you're a dirty worthless monster without god helping you care about others.
@Seraph821 For thy POWER standeth not in multitude nor thy might in strong men: for thou art a God of the afflicted, an helper of the oppressed, an upholder of the weak, a protector of the forlorn, a saviour of them that are without hope. God has power over us. He just gives us the strength. See those try to make it on their own bc they have too much pride. Leviticus 26:19And I will break the PRIDE of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:
'those who judge will be judged.' 'you can not removed a speck from your friends eye when you have a log in your own.' the bible repeatedly teaches Christians that we have no right to comment on what other people do and have no right to judge them. also it helps being 'saved' maybe wont make you a better person but it better helps Christians to understand how they should behave and urm so if you've met Christians saying they have the moral high ground they're pooey christians
Christians believe their soul is replaced or changed into Jesus's soul or a part of JC's soul, which will live for ever. Therefore, although they have evil just as concentrated as Hitler, they also have good in them unlike you who is seen as completely evil.
2:40 "how do you justify being saved has made you a better human being"
there is no "better" as determined by us(humans) unless its in regards to us directly in regard to our (human) standards. The theist believes that God is our judge...we cannot judge ourselves in regards to our souls...its not our job. If we cannot judge ourselves then we certainly fall short of judging others. When humans do this kind of thing...it is a human trait (not a atheist/theistic trait).
" 0:45 if God says do it you do it or its a sin" no. Many stories are written about those who go against what God says to do...& they suffer for it (sometimes not very much sometimes verily so)..but that doesn't mean its a sin. In other circumstances God tells us what is good/gives us rules, as an intention to live by, you can live by those things or go against them, it is then sinful to trangress a rule. We must understand the intention of those words.
I think I agree with you on your first point about the evaluating moral issues, I don't agree that all sin is "exactly" equal because there is at least one that is unforgivable. Since you claim Christians do believe it, (I personally don't), would you mind providing a verse for that? And I also can't say I agree on your last point cuz that would make the death of Christ null and void sooo, mind providing me with another lowly verse(s) for that one? please and thank you. :)
I can understand being pissed because someone is looking down on you, but don't you think you are being a little reactionary, and unfair? I read your disclaimer, but disclaimers are just people apologizing for what they actually think. Anyone who is judging you like that isn't following the example of Jesus Christ, I mean the guy hung out with prostitutes. So since they are ignoring the JC we should call these people the hypocrites, or the Pharisees, or something like that not Christians.
@kizmania1 or a disclaimer could simply be a means of saying if this doenst apply to you dont take it personal. if it does apply to you then yes take it personal.
if we try to swim across a swimming pool, well, it makes sense to distinguish between good and lousy swimmers. When we are talking about the Pacific Ocean, well, it's pretty pointless trying to see who swam the furthest. In a sense, anyone who attempts this feat fails. whether its 50m or 50km. My point, we all have failed and fallen short compared to Jesus Christ. Incredulous? Examine His life. It's true.
Well, the point of the christian message is that no one can be better than another person. In that sense, ya. I'm as 'sinful' as Hitler. Sounds repulsive? The truth hurts, doesn't it. No one attended a course on selfishness/anger/jealousy/deceit/violence/megalomania. But that is what we all are at some point or other.
@Ataensic But wait, there's more! God, who came back as his only son, Jesus, sacrificed his son/himself so we could be forgiven of our sins because God apparently has a problem with just forgiving people. But even then we're not completely forgiven; we have to accept this "gift" that God gave us and give our lives over to him in the form of worship...I'm glad our judicial systems aren't Christian.
A: Yes. The only reason we cannot see GOD now is because HE views EVERY SIN the same. Sin is disgusting to HIM and to everyone that truely loves GOD. Enoch (Genesis) is the only man that did not sin in his life, and that is why he went up staight to heaven without having to die. All men die because of their sin, if you sin less, GOD will prolong your life. So Christian hypocrites, stop showing the appearance of vain holiness and embrace true holiness from GOD.
@panatime1231 If sin is so disgusting to God why didn't he create us without the ability to sin? And no, this wouldn't make us robots. God didn't create us with the ability to fly, that doesn't make us robots any less than the inability to sin would.
@panatime1231 If u sin less, god will prolong your life? What about children that die of cancer , hunger and many other bad things? That doesn't make sense.
Q: Where do Christians go thinking that they are morally better than everyone else, especially when they view all sin equal?
A: A GOOD Christian should not think himself any better than any man. That is pride. The Bible says that God's blessing are with the humble and the lowly. The way most Christians act today IS hypocrytical. The Bible says that a Christian should not judge any man, but let God punish them, and seek to do good to others. All sin is equal BEFORE THE LORD's eyes, not mens.
And, according to the Bible, the only thing that makes a Christian a better person is trying to follow the example of Christ in their life. Not so they may feel superior by any means, but out of reverence and thanks for what they believe Christ did for them, in humility.
@ClumsyRoot Indeed, the bhudda had a better overall record than jesus, but as CR said, he had some issues. Too. I agree with boorens. Morality based on logic and reason in the modern century is superior to anyone of the mythical religious leaders of the past.
If a Christian thinks they are morally superior to anyone else they are deceiving themselves, and have a skewed perspective. According to the Bible, all sin is equal in that it separates people from God, regardless of what that sin is or how many are committed. A white lie is not the same as rape or murder in regard to the outcome for the victim, obviously.
i love how they still dont get it. You understand it better then they do yet their only come back is that you dont get the point or understand the point or cant understand it. PS love all the justifications of slavery below.
I think you really don't understand the entire point of Christianity and the notion of sin. Your characterization of sin being 'equal' whether you commit a 'small sin' or a 'big sin'. Sin is sin, but there is a scale to it. There are people that are MORE sinful then others. But the whole point of Christianity is recognizing the problem of sin/evil, and realizing the solution (Jesus). So no, Christians aren't morally superior at all, but it's the only worldview that offers a solution to sin/evil.
Q. How do you justify thinking that you are somehow a moral example just because you are a Christian?
A. Being a Christian does not automatically make one a moral example.
Q. How do you justify thinking that being saved has made you a better human being?
A. Being saved is the first step toward sanctification, that is, made more like God every day. Through the work of Jesus, not my own. Still a guilty but adjudged innocent. Look up the words: Simul Justus Et Peccator.
You fault the Christian for having no standard of good and evil apart from the Bible. The challenge to you is how you justify having any standard at all.
Easy. An atheist's standard of good and evil come from how we were brought up as well as societal expectations of how we should act. Your standards come from the same place, whether you realize it or not.
we dont need to justify HAVING a standard. it's a personal thing for every human. some just let it be dictated by a book where others let id be dictadet with what they think is best in the current situation.
QC: In atheism, you may get a feeling to engage in pedofilia. Since there is no standard and if you don't get caught, you are likely to take a chance.
In Christianity, if you participate in the love of God, you know it is wrong and would not act on the impulse because the love of God constrains you.
You don't have this ability in atheism. Atheistic morality is subjective and can be used to justify sex with a 12 year old. (By the way Ginsburg believes in this)
3. As all your points are related, my response is cohesive. The biblical doctrine of the atonement doesn't claim to make people "better;" rather, it removes the penatly of sin, i.e., death, by virtue of the death of Christ. Likewise, Sanctification is not the improvement of the sinner, but the outworking of the spirit of Christ that is in the believer.
Just wondering... Do you think that just because you don't believe in God He somehow becomes less God or less powerful or less the Creator of everything including they brain in your head that is disputing His existence??? Tread carefully, man of pride, it doesn't...
"Do you think that just because you don't believe in God He somehow becomes less God... (etc)"
...No. I don't believe any of God's personal variables change in any way because I don't believe he exists, and thus he has no degree of those variables in the first place. The "power" of an entity I do not believe exists is obviously irrelevant to me.
I don't even see why you'd try to make this point.
i believe the point is, he does not become ANY MORE of god, just because you believe and you practice your faith more and better. howcanabeing(sentientornot)bemoreofitselfanywayimeanamiriteor......??
Um.....no....My disbelief of god doesn't make me think he becomes "less powerful or less the creator of everything." My disbelief of god makes me think that he his NOT the creator of anything. Your argument doesn't make any sense. You are basically saying "Just because you don't believe in god doesn't mean he doesn't exist." That doesn't prove anything to an atheist.
The Bible doesn't say all sins are equal but it does say the wages of sin is death. That's why IF anyone does the smallest sin, they still will never see heaven.
We are all born sinners because of Adam. Adam's DNA is corrupted and we all came from him.
If you die with sin, then you CHOOSE to be where the enemy of God will be forever....satan has your soul right now and he's laughing at all the atheists because he won their minds.
For you atheist out there...have you ever tried to obide by biblical standards...if its all made up why is it that no one that you met or i for that matter has never sinned...why is that...Im an agnostic ..but you gotta wonder...if god is so not real why would anyone pride themselves on being an atheist...mr TB why do you even care to talk about GOD..? LOL
by that logic, if I made a new religion where the first commandmant is thall shal not breathe, thus making all living things sinners, it must be true?
I understand that you're looking for face-time, but you might appear slightly more credible if you subjected your arguments to a little basic critique. Had you done this, you might have observed that:
1. This is an ad hominem argument.
2. It is a straw-man - Christians do not claim to be personally morally superior.
3. You obviously do not understand the doctrines of the atonement or sanctification - so, you are arguing from ignorance.
i think what separates atheists and christians with regards to life is atheists disagree on the basis of reality and christians disagree on the basis of spirituality which they cannot be cnvinced is just, well, insanity essentially.
the only way they can be turned off to religion is if we tell them man told them to and man is no angel himself but even THAT will not work.
these people really are just PARANOID...ultimately.not their fault entirely though.
the fact that atheists are still around and in a much larger number this day and age should tell them to question their beliefs because isnt god just too old of an idea?because you cant argue knowledge, not the proven existence of something.the belief would no longer be a belief, reality can only judge beliefs.
the christian would say everyone sins but the gift god gives is everlasting life- like noone deserves it but instead it's a gift oh & at the same time they think you have to like be saved or you'll go to hell - eh even though its um a gift or whatever which you can't earn- well anyway it turns my brain into liquid- cuz that's how they roll lol
Jesus was the moral example according to Christianity, not other Christians. Equal sin only applies to whether God accepts lesser degrees of sin, which he doesn't. And it doesn't matter if you sin or not according to the doctrine of Original Sin, which is why Jesus had to sacrifice himself for sin. Sin is equal in the sense that God doesn't accept any of it, but it's also equal in that God can forgive murder as easily as he can lies. So it goes both ways.
sin is not on a equal level if according to the bible for one sin you get your armed cutt off then another you get stoned to death so what are you talkin about
Christian here. Bro, 1st - I love your way of reasoning. Stay true to your beliefs (because what God would want you to do otherwise)? Stay open minded -because as we grow, we modify our beliefs. That said, I want you to know that from the Scripture -New Testament Christianity has a huge amout of morally grey (make up your own mind about it) themes. Heck, read Romans 14. The message of Christianity is that the goal is loving people & working your life out to that end. God compensates for the rest
no one is morally superior to anyone else. just because someone is christian doesn't mean they are better then me. i hate how people try to cram christanity and god down my throat all the time. i can believe(or lack of belief) anything i want. it's like me saying 'hey i believe in aliens, that means i'm better then you'
atheist: "a person who lacks a belief in a god or gods"
believing in a god makes you a theist or deist, anything else including uncertainty makes you an atheist
ask an atheist and they'll tell you that they don't know 100% for certain that god does not exist, they also might throw in a little tidbit about not knowing 100% for certain that faeries exist or not either, since we can't prove they don't x3
Yeh I'm afraid gnosticism pertains to knowledge. Most atheists are agnostic atheists. They are uncertain about the truth regarding the existence of a god, but they lack belief in it.
Gnosticism applies to any knowledge, it's a common miconception to think that it has anything specifically to do with any particular piece of knowledge, or that it is incompatible with atheism, as some sort of 'middle-ground'.
As such, a baby is an agnostic atheist. As I suppose are ants, birds and bacteria.
"no,we are atheists based on the lack of belief, not lack of truth..."
I know that full-well, can you quote me actually saying any such thing? I looked back at my old post, unless I posted another that I forgot about I did not, and why would I?
"you cant know god exists if he does not present himself in our reality which is all we know."
Again I agree fully, have I said otherwise?
"nobody can be certain of the truth about god"
I agree, but we can have *practical* certainty that he does not.
I don't even think I have to know that it has pagan roots to celebrate it. I put the star on the tree, sing all them christmas songs, Jesus-laden or not, and I open up my presents and watch others open up mine.
But it doesn't bother me; I don't believe in the underlying myths; if we had a Holiday revolving around the Lord of the Rings movies, I'd celebrate that too. It doesn't mean that I believe that Frodo gave us salvation from the One Ring. It's just a book.
As a 5 percenter (look it up)...i believe man is god not some magical mystical being with supernatural powers but i take the word back to its orginal meaning which means supreme being on earth man is the supreme being and out of man the black man is the supreme being...I dont think no one is better then nobody im not narcasistic* either ..there is more to say but not enough space hit me back on the inbox side
"i believe man is god not some magical mystical being with supernatural powers"
Then you're just making up new definitions for the word, so what's the point. You're not talking about the concept god as understood by just about everyone else.
"out of man the black man is the supreme being"
"I dont think no one is better then nobody"
You have contradicted yourself, sorry.
Unless you make some kind of actual argument, there's nothing to discuss. You're just posting a stream of consciousness.
Nope look up the orginal definition of god not the biblical one
and not really although i believe that black man is more supreme i treat no one different there is no contradiction... but come off as an agnostic are you ...i could be wrong ..
Incorrect. To know something, you necessarily believe it, because knowledge of a fact x is justified true belief in that fact x.
Belief is a prerequisite of knowledge.
"so genetically and mathamatically we are superior...check mate"
You are an insane non-sequitur machine. Even if your failed premise was correct, you just brought up genetics and mathematics as if you have no idea what the words mean, and said check mate.
That is incorrect " Knowing somthing is not a belief " is true, Because scientists have proven information such as prayer does not work, and they Know this because it is factual yet still BELIEVE it is true. Can you see how your statment is wrong? so once again, let say i am a christian and i believe in prayer okay now i hear that evidence and research it it comes out prayer dosent work, so i refuse to believe this even though i know it is true. Knowing somthing dosent make it a belief, sorry.
"so i refuse to believe this even though i know it is true. Knowing somthing dosent make it a belief, sorry."
Insane nonsense! You are now in the position where the following conversation could take place
Person x: Prayer doesn't work.
You: I know it doesn't work.
Person x: So why are you still praying?
You: I believe it works.
Do you realise how insane and stupid that sounds? That makes absolutely no sense what so ever, for it to make sense you must reinvent the words' definitions totally.
Sorry but how can you be mathmatically superior, you can not be mathmatically superior because mathmatics has laws, like yes 5 is larger than 3 but five is not superior because they are of the same Variable they are a number you cannot be mathmatically superior. you can be Superior AT mathmatics ( and you may say my spelling is wrong but its just how we spell here ) and if you think about nothing is Genetically superior. and just think about it before you reply to that.
Yeah your right i dont think i met to put that....but genetically we are superior......i probably ment something metaphorically but i cant remember....
I'm sorry but if you're going to state that we're equal beings, and then state that one being is the "supreme being", then it's a contradiction as Alex pointed out. And as he also made mention of, if you are just going to redefine everything to your liking, no point. No argument.
Oh? Demonstrate the genetic superiority of black humans over white humans please. Let me guess. No sunburn?
"how ever kinetically we balanced"
You are again not using words with a solid understanding of their definitions. This is a nonsensical sentence.
"so no contradiction just you misunderstood..."
The contradiction is, I assure you, obvious. But you are right, I don't understand what you are trying to say, because you are speaking ambiguous nonsense.
"they still based that off of jesus christ ...wait yall do have a holiday ...april fools day"
No Christmas was a pagan festival hijacked by Christianity. It was around before anyone heard of any Jesus character.
And as for April fools day, I love the irony that you think it's foolish NOT to believe in:
A cosmic Jewish zombie who was born after a god metaphysically raped a virgin in an illiterate part of the world to facilitate his sacrifice of himself to himself to apease debts he fabricated.
NOT so much the fact that you celebrate the holiday now even if it was a pagan...didnt they believe in more then one GOD anyway...2...you have no idea what i believe in ..if i told you your head will explode ..lol...and liked that...dont tell me you hate your invisible sky daddy
yes i based most of what i believe know or have a theory about according inductive and deductive reasoning and logic..but also i go with something i call my soul provida aka a feeling
I don't think I am morally superior than anyone else, when you are a Christian you usually become more aware of your sins...so the thought of being a 'moral example' doesn't make sense IMO.
The Bible actually doesn't say "All sins are equal in the eyes of God." The closest we get is James 2:10 cross-ref'd with 1 John 3:4-5, and when you look at the passages in context you'll see that this cross-reference is, in fact, poorly made.
Even further, the Old Testament clearly shows that some sins are worse than others, through differing commands for atonement.
Although I understand your sentiments, TBS, this argument is based off of a faulty understanding of Christianity.
Actually he is referencing the teaching of a number of Christian denominations. I am Catholic so we do make the differentiation between the little white lie and the heanous violent sin.
However, as you pointed out, it's not morality that fuels their decisions. IMO, it's the fear of Hell or the desire to be RIGHT...or seen as....righteous...the (proverbial) best seat in heaven... So pride and/or fear is what causes their, supposed, moral code. Freewill, is NOT free because it has rewards and punishments. Therefore, if god HAD to have freewill for "righteous/uncoherced" worship....He failed!
Ohhh I luv ya! Well said. Yeah, many Christians will say..."yes, all sin is the same... (cuz they HAVE TO say this)... "but with salvation (belief in Jesus) I can ask 4 forgiveness and, now, KNOW about God so I'm LESS LIKELY to sin big or small." Still, it's better to have the get-outta-jail free card...in their opinion
that doesnt mean there arent atheist some choose to be atheist because of the lack of evidence and hey u said never believed...u never even gave it a chance....instead of talking to christrian try talking to god and pray for proof
see what happens.........im not an atheist but i am now an agnostic who doesnt believe in the wordly perception of the true creator....
Ah yes, the old "You really do believe in Our God but are afraid of him" strawman. Sorry; speaking as a non-adherent of any particular religious creed, I can tell you without fear of misrepresentation that I no more believe in, fear or resent your particular god than I do Wodin, Khali, Shiva, Carnun, Loki, Zeus, etc etc. All are the same species of mythological, metaphorical entity in my eyes.
those mythical gods stil were one jus had different names for different task.......well i understand why u dont believe anymore but that doesnt make HIM or IT any less real...or the fact that i believe makes HIM or IT any more real..u know either way...we wil find out one day
You make the mistake of assumiong that I ever believed in your particular god in the first place. Fortunately, i was blessed with being raised in a household where I was provided with an objective pewrspective on such matters, being exposed to a variety of perspectives, stories, religions, mythologies etc as well as more scientific resources and left to make up my own mind, rather than being conditioned to regard one particular mythology as gospel. Furthermore, you make exactly the same...
...claim to absolute truth that adherents of thousands of other faiths and mythologies have throughout history, and still do today, yet have no more basis for your claim than they do. As for your tacit threat concerning "finding out one day" (presumably a reference to the judgement day that has been impending according to Christians the second Christ slipped from the cross), the fact that you have to resort to such tactics is ample demonstration of just how much credence your "truth" has.
"well i understand why u dont believe anymore but that doesnt make HIM or IT any less real...or the fact that i believe makes HIM or IT any more real..u know either way...we wil find out one day "
the guy losing his belief indicates that he still isnt knowledge.wheres the fucking logic in this statement??
Im not a christian Im 5 percent I believe man is GOD....but i defend it ....put an athiest on an deserted island with the bible and a richard dawnkins book ...lets see what happens in 2 months
wow according to the gospels they killed jesus because they didnt want to believe his truth. u sound like u dont know what to believe...man do u think GOD is real
Let's see. You give the choices of raping and killing a little girl or lying to my mother-in-law. How about this? You have two choices, you can either reject salvation by grace through faith and face the Creator as your judge or you can accept salvation by grace through faith and be His child and be with Him forever during His reign when He finally destroys Satan.
This video has so many caricatures and misunderstandings of Christian ethics and morality that it needs to be remade before it can be taken seriously.
I've commented on several of your other videos but I'm going to skip this one.
I'm surprised how many Christians don't read or understand the Gospel, let alone, God.
Jesus told a Parable about how a Pharisee goes into the Temple, and thanks God for how he keeps the commandments, and isn't like the robbers, prostitutes, or THAT tax collector, a man who simply asks for God's forgiveness, who would not even raise his head.
It is the tax collector that God finds justified.
Then they say, "I'm glad I'M not like that Pharisee..."
well, if it exists, i guess im going to have to chill with hitler and other such rapists in hell because i didn't verbally abuse my girlfriend the other day. damn it.
No in hell, all the people with the intelligence to question and be skeptical about unbased, wild claims will be there. I'd rather hang with them than an obviously egocentric, arrogant god in heaven.
If you think his voice is annoying than why are you even watching this video? Why did you waste your time clicking and typing? Are you just trying to aggravate him? Or are you actually listening to what he is saying?
No! YOU stop!!!
LOL jk.

if we try to swim across a swimming pool, well, it makes sense to distinguish between good and lousy swimmers. It's true.
jouljert 1 year ago

Q: Is all sin really equal?
So Christian hypocrites, stop showing the appearance of vain holiness and embrace true holiness from GOD.
panatime1231 2 years ago
@panatime1231
I agree. Statistics firmly show that bible-abiding Christians live longer than their atheist counterparts.
Panatime, I implore you, stop talking; you're an embarrassment.

Morality based on logic and reason in the modern century is superior to anyone of the mythical religious leaders of the past.
humanistheart 1 year ago
If a Christian thinks they are morally superior to anyone else they are deceiving themselves, and have a skewed perspective. According to the Bible, all sin is equal in that it separates people from God, regardless of what that sin is or how many are committed. A white lie is not the same as rape or murder in regard to the outcome for the victim, obviously.
deftoneart01 2 years ago
i love how they still dont get it. You understand it better then they do yet their only come back is that you dont get the point or understand the point or cant understand it. PS love all the justifications of slavery below.
dude12nothin 2 years ago
I think you really don't understand the entire point of Christianity and the notion of sin. Your characterization of sin being 'equal' whether you commit a 'small sin' or a 'big sin'. Sin is sin, but there is a scale to it. There are people that are MORE sinful then others. But the whole point of Christianity is recognizing the problem of sin/evil, and realizing the solution (Jesus). So no, Christians aren't morally superior at all, but it's the only worldview that offers a solution to sin/evil.
Xaulted 2 years ago
There is WAY more than one way to combat evil. Take a religions class.
aeriosa91 2 years ago
Christians do not think we are better. Christians are simply thankful that we have been saved.
What makes us good is God. We don't make ourselves good and do not consider ourselves better morality.
We recognize that God has made us good and that we can participate in his nature due to Christ sacrifice on the cross.
We pariticpate in the love of God which allows us to live within the life of God for eternity.
zdennyfamily 2 years ago
Well God's obviously not doing a very good job of making Christians better. The evidence indicates that Christians are no better than anyone else.
The proportion of atheists in prison is much lower than the proportion of atheists in society. So atheists seem to be more moral than Christians.
Also the crime rates are *higher* in the most religious countries, and in the most religious parts of the US.

TheBluesMan232 2 years ago
I would have to fall down on the side that the statement in the bible that all sins are equal is a contextual one.
When a person is finally judged, their sins are basically not taken directly into account, it is their character that is taken into account.
This does not indicate that the same is true in any context.
Or is my impression of the scripture way way off?
Lowilru 2 years ago
The side of the debate that is.
Lowilru 2 years ago
You fault the Christian for having no standard of good and evil apart from the Bible. The challenge to you is how you justify having any standard at all.
dptroutt 2 years ago
Easy. An atheist's standard of good and evil come from how we were brought up as well as societal expectations of how we should act. Your standards come from the same place, whether you realize it or not.
soapage 2 years ago 2
Sorry. That's just begging the question.
What I asked was how you, as an atheist, justify having any moral standard at all (or any kind of values).
dptroutt 2 years ago
we dont need to justify HAVING a standard. it's a personal thing for every human. some just let it be dictated by a book where others let id be dictadet with what they think is best in the current situation.
QCreyton 2 years ago
QC: In atheism, you may get a feeling to engage in pedofilia. Since there is no standard and if you don't get caught, you are likely to take a chance.
In Christianity, if you participate in the love of God, you know it is wrong and would not act on the impulse because the love of God constrains you.
You don't have this ability in atheism. Atheistic morality is subjective and can be used to justify sex with a 12 year old. (By the way Ginsburg believes in this)
zdennyfamily 2 years ago
zdennyfamily,
If you want to talk about paedophilia, how many Christian priests have been engaged in that? The love of God did not stop them.
On the flip side, you don't have to be a Christian to know that hurting children is wrong. (Almost) everyone knows that instinctively.
AThagoras 2 years ago
Sorry, I had to split this up.
3. As all your points are related, my response is cohesive. The biblical doctrine of the atonement doesn't claim to make people "better;" rather, it removes the penatly of sin, i.e., death, by virtue of the death of Christ. Likewise, Sanctification is not the improvement of the sinner, but the outworking of the spirit of Christ that is in the believer.
dptroutt 2 years ago
Sorry for taking so long.
1. You disguise your critique of Christianity as an argument against Christians who claim they are "better" morally because they are Christians.

taribobari 2 years ago
"Do you think that just because you don't believe in God He somehow becomes less God... (etc)"
...No. I don't believe any of God's personal variables change in any way because I don't believe he exists, and thus he has no degree of those variables in the first place. The "power" of an entity I do not believe exists is obviously irrelevant to me.
I don't even see why you'd try to make this point.

xBillyTheKidx 2 years ago
Um.....no....My disbelief of god doesn't make me think he becomes "less powerful or less the creator of everything." My disbelief of god makes me think that he his NOT the creator of anything. Your argument doesn't make any sense. You are basically saying "Just because you don't believe in god doesn't mean he doesn't exist." That doesn't prove anything to an atheist.
soapage 2 years ago 2
The Bible doesn't say all sins are equal but it does say the wages of sin is death. That's why IF anyone does the smallest sin, they still will never see heaven.
We are all born sinners because of Adam. Adam's DNA is corrupted and we all came from him.
If you die with sin, then you CHOOSE to be where the enemy of God will be forever....satan has your soul right now and he's laughing at all the atheists because he won their minds.
Only Jesus is the door to life.

Enjoy.

(not personal belief, just clarifying).

atheist: "a person who lacks a belief in a god or gods"
believing in a god makes you a theist or deist, anything else including uncertainty makes you an atheist
ask an atheist and they'll tell you that they don't know 100% for certain that god does not exist, they also might throw in a little tidbit about not knowing 100% for certain that faeries exist or not either, since we can't prove they don't x3
IzzyBunneh 2 years ago
if they're not certain, then they are agnostic. Not atheist.
aggriken1 2 years ago
atheism is defined as a lack of belief in a god
all atheists are uncertain about the existence of god, i've only ever met one who claims 'absolute certainty"
it'd be hypocritical otherwise. atheists are defined as a person who rejects theistic claims, and who don't hold a belief in a god or gods
IzzyBunneh 2 years ago
Yeh I'm afraid gnosticism pertains to knowledge. Most atheists are agnostic atheists. They are uncertain about the truth regarding the existence of a god, but they lack belief in it.
Gnosticism applies to any knowledge, it's a common miconception to think that it has anything specifically to do with any particular piece of knowledge, or that it is incompatible with atheism, as some sort of 'middle-ground'.
As such, a baby is an agnostic atheist. As I suppose are ants, birds and bacteria.

Incorrect. To know something, you necessarily believe it, because knowledge of a fact x is justified true belief in that fact x.
Belief is a prerequisite of knowledge.

You are an insane non-sequitur machine. Even if your failed premise was correct, you just brought up genetics and mathematics as if you have no idea what the words mean, and said check mate.
You are.. bizzare.
AleximusMaximus 2 years ago 2
That is incorrect " Knowing somthing is not a belief " is true, Because scientists have proven information such as prayer does not work, and they Know this because it is factual yet still BELIEVE it is true. Knowing something is holding a justified true belief, which is what I said.

Which is exactly what I said.

Lets be real some people are atheist because..they dont wanna be accountable to there creator.....
kwesi216 3 years ago
If they think that there's a Creator to be "accountable" to, then they aren't atheists.
C'mon, THINK!

that doesnt mean there arent atheist some choose to be atheist because of the lack of evidence and hey u said never believed...u never even gave it a chance....instead of talking to christrian try talking to god and pray for proof
see what happens.........im not an atheist but i am now an agnostic who doesnt believe in the wordly perception of the true creator....

All are the same species of mythological, metaphorical entity in my eyes.

those mythical gods stil were one jus had different names for different task.......well i understand why u dont believe anymore but that doesnt make HIM or IT any less real...or the fact that i believe makes HIM or IT any more real..u know either way...we wil find out one day
kwesi216 3 years ago
You make the mistake of assumiong that I ever believed in your particular god in the first place. Fortunately, i was blessed with being raised in a household where I was provided with an objective pewrspective on such matters, being exposed to a variety of perspectives, stories, religions, mythologies etc as well as more scientific resources and left to make up my own mind, rather than being conditioned to regard one particular mythology as gospel. Furthermore, you make exactly the same...
ExaggeratedElegy 3 years ago 2
...claim to absolute truth that adherents of thousands of other faiths and mythologies have throughout history, and still do today, yet have no more basis for your claim than they do. As for your tacit threat concerning "finding out one day" (presumably a reference to the judgement day that has been impending according to Christians the second Christ slipped from the cross), the fact that you have to resort to such tactics is ample demonstration of just how much credence your "truth" has.

Uh kwesi:
"well i understand why u dont believe anymore but that doesnt make HIM or IT any less real...or the fact that i believe makes HIM or IT any more real..u know either way...we wil find out one day "

INTJ22 3 years ago
This video has a very straightforward logic. I was a christian for 10 years and don't find fault with the few premises it has.
All sin IS equal in the eyes of the lord.
I wished the bible did not state that, but it did.
CognosSquare 3 years ago
I'm surprised how many Christians don't read or understand the Gospel, let alone, God.
Jesus told a Parable about how a Pharisee goes into the Temple, and thanks God for how he keeps the commandments, and isn't like the robbers, prostitutes, or THAT tax collector, a man who simply asks for God's forgiveness, who would not even raise his head.
It is the tax collector that God finds justified.
Then they say, "I'm glad I'M not like that Pharisee..."
I Jesus humbled himself, shouldn't they?

No in hell, all the people with the intelligence to question and be skeptical about unbased, wild claims will be there. I'd rather hang with them than an obviously egocentric, arrogant god in heaven.
Go atheism!!

Not to mention you'd have to put up with Falwell, Robertson, Manning, and a whole slew of other douchebags in heaven.

If you think his voice is annoying than why are you even watching this video? Why did you waste your time clicking and typing? Are you just trying to aggravate him? Or are you actually listening to what he is saying?
