The M3 kills the C63 round a track because it can handle. I'm an AMG fan so I'd take the C63 any day but that doesn't mean I don't respect the M3. They are 2 really different cars.

@BLACKLACDTS Technically No, American engines(V8s anyways) generally use older technology so they have to have bigger displacement to get more power. That makes the engines cheaper though. Something like a Corvettes LS3 engine gets 430 HP, but it's 6.2 litres. Audi's V8 that they use in the RS4 and R8 gets 420 HP from only 4.2 litres. However Audi's engine is FAR more advanced than american ones.

I have a C32 AMG and it's a great car on all manners. I've driven the E92 too, and it's a great car, but I won't buy it. Sure, it is really easy to control and fun to drive, but way too stuffed with electric equipment (like the Skyline GT-R R32) to keep the car balanced. So I'll stick to the E46.
But yeah, overall, might as well have had a Ferrari F430 againts a Lamborghini Diablo. The outcome is obvious.
Theres a reason why the displacement is kept low in bimmers.
Torque is not usable in high volumes on a track involving turns that require power throughout, pushing the limit as to the amount of traction the wheels can sustain. Horsepower is torque put to good use.

They stopped making the c32 in 2003. and its an estate (wagon)car. a 3.2 v6 against a 4. v8. the BMW should have been way ahead of that. A very hollow victory.

Hollow? The M won by a few bus lengths; from a car built for corners, not straight speed vs a car that can only go in straight lines, it did pretty well.

@ODIEMCL Whats your reason for buying a sports car? Straight line performance? Go buy a Camaro. The M's cornering agility is usable daily, yielding a more satisfying experience than the AMG, but wait... no, you just bought your car based on comfort and nothing else.
Hollow straight-line victory has nothing to do with ride quality, which is your logic behind the C32 actually standing a chance against the E92.

youre driving a 2007 model c class against a brand new m3... the test is invalid and are you using the amg? try using a new c class AMG version. the mercedes will run circles around that BMW

@4MATICbenzthey may be faster, but for the 10 seconds that they are the poor build quality then blows the engine and the german competitor wins because its still in one piece. you never mentioned the elise or exige, but even if you had i would say its not the same competitions, 2 door coupe vs ultralight racer. and nobody cares about m6, they are fat, ugly and only good in a straight line oh sounds like those american cars..great in a straight line, but a corner is like testing a redneck on math

@Bravehear71992 , I wasnt just talking faster in a straight line, when I say "outperform" i mean faster everywhere (track, slalom, etc.) The Dodge Viper ACR and Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 & Z06 have no trouble keeping up with their Porsche competitors in terms of track prowess. Same story goes for CTS-V vs. the M3, M5 as well as Audi RS and Merc AMG. Hell, even a crap $30K 2011 Mustang GT will perform equally to a 70K M3. I also used to think ONLY German cars could perform, but not any more...

@BLACKLACDTS Technically No, American engines(V8s anyways) generally use older technology so they have to have bigger displacement to get more power. That makes the engines cheaper though. Something like a Corvettes LS3 engine gets 430 HP, but it's 6.2 litres. Audi's V8 that they use in the RS4 and R8 gets 420 HP from only 4.2 litres. However Audi's engine is FAR more advanced than american ones.

I don't have to take on any "sides" here, as I own both, Mercedes-Benz's and BMW's.
I have a C32 AMG and it's a great car on all manners. I've driven the E92 too, and it's a great car, but I won't buy it. Sure, it is really easy to control and fun to drive, but way too stuffed with electric equipment (like the Skyline GT-R R32) to keep the car balanced. So I'll stick to the E46.
But yeah, overall, might as well have had a Ferrari F430 againts a Lamborghini Diablo. The outcome is obvious.

Theres a reason why the displacement is kept low in bimmers.
Torque is not usable in high volumes on a track involving turns that require power throughout, pushing the limit as to the amount of traction the wheels can sustain. Horsepower is torque put to good use.

People who think they know about the battle between Mercedes and BMW.
BMW: has better track times hands down will out handle the newest mercedes out handles better and drives alot smoother. BMW is pure performance which is why im buying one.
Mercedes: More power yes, bigger engine so 0-60= 4.4 seconds while the BMW is 4.6 the faster 0-60 is all the Merc has on the BMW it can keep its 6.2 liter retarded engine, its still cant handle for shit, compared to the BMW fishtails like crazy.

Apples and oranges... So thats a 7 year old model station wagon vs a new model coupe. Yeah, I say race a m3 from the same generation as a c32 to make it even. Or a c63 vs the e92 they are both current model and have a v8 under the hood.
