  • sounds like shit

  • Great punk band from Scotland, greatest guitar player Stuart Adamson left to form Big Country, watch their music transform over the years if you get the chance. U2 started out fantastic, but can't compare to Big Country and Skids.

Love you Stuart, too damn bad you had to leave us the way you did.

  • for everyone that says ''fuck green day & u2

    so suck on that!

  • @heerserjordi95 go grow a pair then come back and listen to this song

  • Stuart RIP

  • Jolly good

  • Does anyone know what kind of mics they are using?

  • @Brok3nC4rrot not, they are scottish...

  • @xgoldlion07x Mic's and Mac's show up on both sides, you know. And anyway, I mean microphones. they look different from what i've seen before.

  • Disrespectfull Americans now thats a new concept written in Scotland ,performed by Scotsmen and written and firstly and always by Skids..Arrogant fucking children get on my nerves..Who? gives a fuck about some poxy shite film ffs. Adamson RIP Jobson they were ahead of their time man way ahead of their time. Genios

  • The Boondock Saints MotherFucker!!!

  • Loveeee it (L)

  • The Boondock Saints told me to check this out!

  • @knoppert82

some may say Saints suck or director of Saints suck, but damn he has good taste ! :)

and I love the movie personaly.

    yeepee !

  • @Chaostos The Movies Rocked !! So i am with you.

  • @knoppert82

Yes indeed. btw do you know what epic badass music is in Rusian Mob Fight Hotel Fight Scene, when they got stuck and hanged upside down blasting everyone ?

  • @knoppert82 you mean, The Boondock Saints 2 All Saints day

  • @KakashiOfSharingan1 Yes, All Saints! a Win :-)

  • @knoppert82 yesh, i know cause, i had just got done watching the movie when i searched for this song :p

  • @knoppert82 No one cares.

  • Go the Mighty Saints - in their new home ground next year - they'll be marching out to this in Saint Helens in Feb 2012

  • weird seeing stuart adamson just the guitarist when he went on to be one hell of a frontman for big country, that richard jobson must be a right idiot not seeing stuarts potential

  • Love this song anyway but it also happens to be the song my footy team runs out to..."c'mon you saints"

  • i like green day and U2, then i found out about the skids, and the fuck is wrong with me, i like this version more...damn...

  • Ahh I liked green days and U2 version that they mixed this song with the animals' the house of the rising sun and U2s' beautiful day in to one song

  • The host at the end is hilarious, the hair, beard and suit combo is simply bizarre.

  • @QualityTimeChannel Dave Lee Travis aka The hairy cornflake

  • Stuart Adamson = Guitar God

  • @fuckyoutopoliticians are you joking?

  • Bitches stop arguing without the skids making this song gayass green day wouldn't have made a different gay version of it

  • The skids r awesome especially this song I used to hear it while playing left for dead 2

  • THE SAINTS ARE COMING PORTSMOUTH FOOTBALL CLUB

  • @Cosser THE SAINTS ARE COMING ST HELENS RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB!!!!!

  • ahh, i love the smell of real music in the morning, the genius of stuart adamson at work again

  • I like this version better, it's more...raw? It's too good to only be 2:42 secs though. They shouldn't have over-lapped the guitar solo with the chorus.

  • ppl who dont the skids r stupis they r awsome

  • GO THE DRAGONS!!!!

  • They were just like one of the best ever.Saw them in Glasgow Apollo in '78. Will we ever see their likes again?

  • awsome i like this band never heard of it but good!

  • boondock saints, great music and movie1

  • Thumbs up if you hate this 'thumbs up if you're so dumb like a clapping monkey and you have to always thumbs up anything.' thing.

  • @hymynameisbazs <--- your mate

  • My pet hate on youtube..thumbs up if blah fuckin blah brought you here. Enjoy the song for what it is. Thanks for uploading .

  • I heard this in 1976 in my high school common room. The skids were rock solid live even in such rubbish venues.

Boondock saints? Cover boy band version don't care for it

  • thumbs up if u heared this song for thee dragons!

  • I don't care what people think. Green Day and U2 did a cover for charity.

  • Who cares where you heard the song first, your listening to music hear and not what ever garbage is out now, Great Song and in a Great Movie

  • The original and by far the best!

  • @nik1969100

    I agree

  • Ha ha when the Skids played the old Poly in Portsmouth everyone was singing the Saints are running - golden days...

  • 45 people are the sinners lol

  • @YesPartyHats If people don't like Boondock Saints then they don't like the meaning of this song.

  • The Skids are alright hahahahaha......

  • 45 people loves Gree Shit vers.!! :S

  • FC Twente;)

  • 45 people stuck up Bono

  • The John Travolta & Olivia Newton John song at the very start of the video is better than Green Day and U2 version.

  • Why does Green DAy get brought up on every punk video on youtube? The fact that they covered this song means that they're cool. Whichever version you like, shut the fuck up about it.

  • @XpumpkinheadXhearseX Probably cus they steal all their songs from other places. Even Brainstew was a rip off of a Chicago song. I would find it hard to find a Stiff Little Fingers song they didnt rip off! Regurgitated nonsense for a generation of mindless panzies.

  • @XpumpkinheadXhearseX thank i've had enough arguing

  • esta es la mejor versión... no hay más...

  • green day and u2 la ace mucho mejor porque green day es lo maximo!!

  • Like if you heard this song before Boondocks Saints even came out!!!

  • Thumbs up if you're listening to this because you saw on wikipedia that U2 and Green Day were not the first

  • @Guill0rtiz exactly what I just found out and I totally prefer the U2 and Green Day version

  • @Guill0rtiz fuck green day and u2 a Scottish band song this song man classic

  • @DAG241 But the cover from Green Day + U2 is just better...

  • @Thundertail98 it's not

  • @darthkurama784513 the skids: on youtube at 13 march 2007; hits: 519235

    A year later at 6 march 2008 from u2 + gd; hits: 2368400

  • @Thundertail98 so what? bieber has much more than that, is he good? NO!

  • @darthkurama784513 yes and the gummy bear has about 10million, so does the cutie chick and that bloke with the dog (can't remember his dogs name!) has loads too, number of views doesn't mean shite, except that most people watch crap!

  • @gsm1881 exactly, that's what I meant.

  • @DAG241 classic... so what, U2 & Green Day is better -.- its more important that's better

  • @Guill0rtiz , I'm not a BIG fan of the saints but I was a teenager 1978-85 and remember it first time around as fucking brilliant and the best thing they ever did. Will that do?>

  • @Guill0rtiz green day and u2 rock♥

  • this is 33 years old, long live the skids

  • U2 and greenday's version sucks

    The Skids are the best

  • I have been a fan of the clash since 76' I also like green day, I dont understand all the negativity aimed at green day. They are not trying to be the Clash, the only thing I have heard them say about the Clash is they were influenced by their music. I would imagine thats why a vast majority of new artists get involved in the industry.

  • what a large jaw richard jobson has

  • "That's a nice bouncy way to start the show..."

  • Amazing Live band these days bands couldnt lace their boots.Ayr 81 awsome set in same year saw Specials,Damned,Stranglers etc etc Still nothing to touch this generations music grown from Unemployment and anger Punk was monumental in Youth Culture. As for some rajie movie no i didnt.

  • not daniel but his dad is writing this,,,,, this is fuckin class 79 s music ,,,,, tam ,ricky stuart and bill ,,,. fuck the miming ,,, you have probably never heard off the skids so any problems with them send them 2 jaggiewig@aol.com

  • Thumbs up if you heard this song because you like The Skids, not because some half arsed movie featured it, or crappy pop bands could not write anything nearly as cool as this if they tried.

  • @discohospital U2 and Greendays r so betre

  • @Versuz54 High production values, but a dripping mass of fake sincerity. A big polished turd made by bands designed to sell to babies and house wives. If you compare them again I hope that you IPOD implodes just to spite you.

  • @discohospital

Greenday did it better with U2

  • @tvfefgdywegodyewgdg Your mom did it better with Green Day & U2.

  • @discohospital Really tho?

  • Comment removed

  • @discohospital It's okay if you didn't hear the song from the movie, but really? you're saying Boondocks Saints is half arsed?

  • @discohospital if your dissing the Boondock saints....... i feel Sorry for ya

  • @discohospital well said

  • @discohospital Boondock Saints is not half arsed movie! Its awesome!

  • @discohospital dude the bondock saints is a good movie so stop riping on it

  • @discohospital Hell yes my brother.Crazy yanks.

  • Fuck Green Day and U2

  • Yeah all tv shows back then in europe had people lip synching to their songs. A lot of bands didnt even make an effort to look like they were singing or playing. I remember The Cure particularly just goofing around and singing one line out of four, some didn't even bother bringing instruments. The Skids there make it look real i have to say. Also i wish this didnt become all about GD and U2 vs this one. That's all these comments are about. Can we please not give a second's thought to the cover?

  • The saint are cumming :D

  • "And Shepherds we shall be

For thee, my Lord, for thee.

Power hath descended forth from Thy hand

Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands.

So we shall flow a river forth to Thee

And teeming with souls shall it ever be.

In Nomeni Patri Et Fili Spiritus Sancti."

  • For me it's thank god those GD and U2 did this cos I heard about this from em. And Now Im lovin The fookin' SKIDS!!

  • green day feat u2 plays it better xD but the original is still good

  • I don't like this song, I REALLY LOVE IT!

Real hand made music with emotions and sense. No plastic techno pop crap from today.

  • greenday and U2 collaborated for a version of this available on youtube, there are folk arguing if it is greenday or u2's song, lol. fukkwits!

  • @upyerkilt123

I love U2 but their cover with Green Day doesn't measure up to the energy of this original.

  • @mattressjedi

i dont mind U2, used to love them in the 80's until they went pish after unforgettable. but still good songwriters, they did do a good cover of it.

  • Green Day turn 11 year olds onto Punk real punk DKs,Clash,Skids,Buzzcocks,Pistols their songs are not even in same league their Kid punk light go listen to CRASS .Green Day are plastic as we would say in 70s+80s.

  • @IIxALF1ExII

*points to kingobnoxious comment* when a man like Joe Strummer - the godfather of punk - speaks out and says he likes Green Day, the TRUE fakes (such as yourself) whom criticise them for being plastic only come across ignorant.

and for what its worth, I was listening to the Clash way before I ever listened to a Green Day song.

  • @IIxALF1ExII

    what utter bollox!

I love punk music, greenday are no more plastic than some of the shit that was going around in the 70's. If greenday were about in the 70's wit hthe same sound, same music they would be in the top 3 punk bands.

Just because they start in the early 90's, it doesnt make them any less punk than the pistols, slf,DK, clash. Old punks like you give old punks like me a bad name.

  • @MrKingObnoxious Can you point me at the comments Strummer and Jones made about Green Day? Would be interested to read them. Its all about opinions at the end of the day. You believe the Pistols wrote a few terrible songs, I think they wrote more classics on one album than Green Day have managed in 25 years.

  • fuckin briliant! passion

but his hair looks like andy mclusky

  • fuckin briliant! passion

  • first time i heard this song was, when U2 and GreenDay got together for Katrina

  • I was at a Halloween party some years ago and a version of this came on and I inquired who it was, the party host told me it was Green Day, I cringed. I cringed even more when one of his guests informed me that they had written in it honor of the Astrodome being reopened. I rolled my eyes, cringed some more and uttered that Sideshow Bob growl of discontent..........

  • some song should never be covered, this is one of them,

  • thumbs up if you heard this song from The Boondock Saints

  • @grune4 i peronally like the boondock saints II : all saints day better! and yea i heard this song offf of the bd saints lol

  • Thumbs up if the Boondock Saints II send you here

  • Ease the fuck out fellas. U2 & Green Days cover are a mere tribute to this song - they did not try to steal the song and im pretty sure that they didnt mean to make it into such a shitty cover. Every fucking body likes the original more than the cover - now calm down and enjoy the music.

  • The skids >>>>>(Infinite) Greenday/U2

The new gay boys has fucked with the music, has make one melodramatic song, FUCK GREENDAY, THE SKIDS RULEZ!

  • Boondock Saints 2

  • u2 blows, green day blows, therefore a collaboration by the two automatically blows as well.

so gtfo, go splooge all over their video.

  • this was horrible

  • @FightingGatorz obviously not a fan of punk then

  • the ramones should have covered this song, they would have killed it.

  • @BurnTheLeaves That would be like the Beatles covering some one-hit wonder British Invasion group

  • @guitarpop if the song is good, why not? A lot of one hit wonder bands delivered some pretty awesome songs. Stop hating dogg.

  • @BurnTheLeaves You obviously missed my point. I wasn't insulting one-hit wonders. What I was saying is that it would be absurd for the Ramones to cover this song because they were the progenitors of the style (and did it much better, quite frankly).

  • @guitarpop british punk, not american punk. The ramones could have EASILY done a cover of this song in the 80s and made the song bigger than it was, in north america anyway. The song is amazing and could easily translate to american culture in the 80s because punk was huge then. Ramones also went all trendy with their high school type songs, which wasn't too punk. Sex pistols held it together at least.

  • The boondock saints RULEZ!

43 Yakavetta fans are hate that amazing song!

  • Best soundtrack to the best movie EVER

  • u2 green day corprate shite ( love early u2 )

  • @shug119 shut up, new U2 are more corporate than new Green Day and old Green Day beats old U2.

  • @TheJayman213

U shut up gayman, I said i prefer the skids to the u2/greenday version, this is my preferance, each 2 his own. I liked early u2 but now there up there asxx.

Cant coment on greenday as Iv not heard mutch of there music.

German group called van thronstahl do a different , but very good version. have a nice day.

  • @shug119 that's not at all what you said. you didn't even mention the Skids or this song. you simply bitched about green day. look, 2 or 3 before my first comment

  • @TheJayman213 which is fair enough because Greenday are shite. They were decent for a while then turned into moaning emo bell ends.

  • @jimmyhayers see, you're doing it again!

Green Day are still awesome for their old achievements, you can't just forget about the old albums just cus new ones were released. they definitely played a bigger role in music history than the skids. they practically revived punk all by themselves. Dookie is one of the most influential albums ever.

and even just looking at new green day, they're not emo, they enjoy life!

  • @TheJayman213 by themselves? Greenday were pop-punk pioneers yes, but to discount bands like Rancid, The Offspring, Sick Of It All, NOFX, Anti-Flag and also the revival of bands like Bad Religion is a bit silly really.

I was a fan of Greenday as a teenager, I preferred Nimrod to Dookie but then they just seemed to go off the rails or maybe it's just that my tastes changed. The Skids still had a big influence on U2 and the Manics which is a pretty important influence if you think about it

  • @jimmyhayers well, those bands contributed too but not nearly as much as green day. Dookie gave the final push and made punk popular again, while the effect of previous albums by other artists was relatively small.

the skids may have influenced certain bands but they didn't wake the world's interest in an entire genre.

millions of people got into punk through green day, inculding me. things would certainly be different if they hadn't existed.

  • @TheJayman213 Hahaha sure mate, whatever you say. To me Greenday are not real punk and all they did was to get people interested in poppy pseudo-punk like Blink 182 and Sum 41, not proper punk music.

  • @jimmyhayers so what if they're not pure punk? you don't HAVE to be punk to promote it! i admit they are only pop-punk (not that that's a bad thing) but that doesn't change the fact that i like the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, the Cockney Rejects and others thanks to THEM.

what mattered was that they were labled as "punk" by the media. which meant: people who liked Dookie would go out looking for what they thought it was: punk!

  • @jimmyhayers punk not emo, they party and love life, they arent depressed introverts who suck dick to feel better about themselves.. even though treycool was bi for awhile he got over it and got married but yeah

  • @doctoryoinky When they were at their best, it was pop punk. They turned all shit and released songs like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" which really sounds like a song to celebrate life :|

  • Great song and in my opinion U2 and green day did a shit, the best cover still comes from the band "Von Thronstahl"

    youtube.com/watch?v=sb-APukdOJU

But the original is of course still the best.

  • Great song and great band

  • and shepherds we shall be for thee my lord for thee power hath descended forth from thy hand our feet my swiftly carry out thy command so we flow a river forth to thee and teeming with souls shall it ever be

  • @C0N0RJ3NKINZ in nomine patri et filii spiritus sancti

  • rip adamson

  • LOL some guy said Poo 2 and Green Gay.

  • @shutyourfuckingface3 hey im not a fan of either of them but you need to come up with a better name for u2 what are you 6

  • great band...

  • Top drawer R I P Stuart. Your a pure legend

  • I played the shit out of this album, it's a wonder it still had a groove in it, one of the best albums of all time, "of one skin", "charles", "Melancholy Soldiers" brilliant.

  • Damn they are good musicians for their time. I freaking love the drums in this song.

  • hey, it's the guy from big country. i didn't know he was in this band.

  • @smecking Stuart Adamson of Big Country co-wrote this song.

  • I still say that it's perfectly understandable that U2 would do a cover of a Skids song, a band they grew up with (even if most of their modern audience wouldn't have a clue who the Skids were), were friends with (at least with Stuart Adamson) and had a lot of respect for. Even with all the glam and money and ubiquity of this band, one can never say that U2 has ever really forgotten where they came from. Class of '77 punk rock is where their roots are. Deal with it!

  • DONT READ THIS CAUSE IT ACTUALLY WORKS. YOU WILL GET KISSED ON THE NEAREST POSSIBLE FRIDAY BY THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE. TOMORROW WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE. HOWEVER IF YOU DO NOT POST THIS COMMENT TO AT LEAST 3 VIDEOS YOU WILL DIE WITHIN 2 DAYS. NOW UV STARTED READING THIS SO DUNT STOP. THIS IS SO SCARY. PUT THIS ON AT LEAST 5 VIDEOS IN 143 MINUTES WHEN UR DONE PRESS F6 AND UR LOVERS NAME WILL APPEAR ON THE SCREEN IN BIG LETTERS. THIS IS SO SCARY CAUSE IT ACTUALY WORKS

  • This is a good song, I just can't get into it. The lead singer just doesn't seem all that into it. It looks like he's just trying to get it over with. If I had it on my iPod, I'd like it. I just can't get into this video.

And, I like the short intro that U2/Green Day did on it. They just made it relevant for a moment in time when a city needed a rallying cry.

  • Poo2? thats abit harsh?

  • 43 people want Billy Joe to fuck them in the ass and swallow his shit and cum mixture.

  • y the fuck is everyone argueing? when someone covers something, making it bttr or worse, they do it as a thank u... green day has way more famous songs and if u think the skids are bttr, then think that. dont start hating

  • 43 people got scared that the saints were coming.haha

  • Not heard the covers of this but come on since when are covers better than the origninal - Never! The guys do put some emotion into this track bear in mind they are miming! Also, at the time when you mimed to your songs - it was usually done as a parody. Nowadays they try to lip-synch better (mind you Cheryl Cole did a bad version recently!) but then it was different.
