I played to a CD track; I don't have infinitely fast reaction time, so you hear the CD before my guitar. I make plenty of small mistakes/different bends, vibrato, etc to the original; it is clear I'm playing. And what about my other thirty covers........!!!

@Marineman. That's called a backing track buddy. It doesn't always sync up perfectly. Good cover. Your legato sounds a little slow to me though. Work on your chugging also. Make it a bit cleaner. Maybe palm mute it a little more. Good job on the solo. It's a tough one!

I had the same dilemma a couple of years ago, and considered the same sort of amps. It comes down to whether you want effects and a digital/processed sound, or whether you're a "pure" tone sort of guy! I went for the latter and didn't regret it; now I've stayed true to the pure tone and upgraded to an Engl. My bandmate guitarist has gone for the Valvetronix; nice amp if you like digital, but the Engl wins easily for pure overdriven rock and metal.
