did they not have a harp? what a shame... beautiful dancing and port de bras from sarah lamb, though, what a pleasure to watch her develop as an artist!
Is it just me or did she just forget to do the actual arm wing movement? I'm not saying you shoulde be flapping your arms non-stop in hysteria but still, it's one of those important, signature "details" (!) when dancing a swan, ie Maya Plisetskaya's rendition of this piece... it's quite a shame coz besides that it was actually quite beautiful
She is absolutely incredible at this part, her technique is nearly flawless, her port de bras is beautiful and she was so musical that I felt in all aspects she danced this role genuinely. If non ballet dancers truly knew how hard something like this is to make look the way she does, it would really be appreciated more.
this is stunning. she is especially beautiful at @1:35 and @1:47 . even though her ending pose wasn't as well done as others, her performance as a whole was incredible. the fact that the video shows her as all white makes the dance even more special.
Bravo, bravissimo, that was beautiful, every ballerina has her own style, you may like one ballerina more than another, but that doesn't make her better or worse, enjoy what you are watching and stop making such impolite comments, some people here need a lesson or two on having class and respect.
@pepperscrue Anna Pavlova was jerky intentionally from what i understand. She wanted to look like she was fighting death rather than making the entire thing graceful and unrealistic. She was a very emotional dancer.
I love this, and i love the way it's evolved but Pavlova was much more of an actress :)
love it so much more than pavlova's version...looks more realistic and beautiful......quiet authenticity not jerky awkward arm movements. choreography at 1:40's is exquisite....
Typical American audience, unable to wait until the very last note is played and for the lights to dime before applauding. They cheat themselves out of a very theatrical and emotionally charged moment when they do that.
@isabellaXXrawr Proud of what? Being unable to restrain ourselves and thus denying ourselves a complete theatrical experience? I’m American too but sometimes our manners in the theatre and out, leave a good deal to be desired.
@avesraggiana Typical foreign person bashing on a random audience who happen to be americans. It's funny how us Americans do not tend to rip other cultures apart when they turn up short of us in weaponry, arts, movies, etc. We are in fact the leaders of modern day society, and I am terribly sorry that your jealousy overcame you and you overlooked the option of saying "well too bad this audience was so impressed that they could not bare to applaud this marvelous dancer."
@icepheonix2 I’m sorry you don’t agree with my opinion and by the way, WE Americans are equally adept at ripping apart other cultures, for any reason. I am not disputing that WE Americans are leaders of modern day society, there’s a lot to commend us. But a sense of appropriateness and restraint is not amongst our list of strengths. Maybe I should have said WE cheat ourselves out of a rare theatrical experience when we can’t restrain ourselves for just a few more seconds. A Fellow American.
@littlelucifer69 I fervently hope that as more of OUR fellow Americans are exposed to ballet and become better informed, they will follow our example.
@TheDino3731 Yes, we Americans are given to ignorant rambling and making sweeping generalizations. Apparently, we are also very thin-skinned and can’t take negative comments, even when they’re sometimes true.
@avesraggiana If i were to say all Italians were obnoxiously loud and very stupid im sure some Italians would be very upset they had been blanketed by a generalization that is emphasized by a ignorant stereotype...
you can say that italian are loud but not stupid just think all the genius were born in that country, you really can say everythingh about italian people but in our country were born all the genius that all the people in the world admired....

She was beautiful, but I agree she didn't express death as well as should have been.

I think Sarah Lamb is a talented dancer but I don't believe that she is dying in this performace. She doesn't have that emotion weighing her.
