  • I was at The University of Georgia when The Producers were popular. They came to campus one year, and everybody knew all the words to every song they played. Best concert ever. This song was from their 2nd and less successful album. Every song on their 1st album was great. They played at "The Mad Hatter" in Athens, and throughout the southeast. They were great, and the keyboard player (Wayne Famous?) was a lot of fun to watch.

  • Saw them Halloween, early 80's, Underground Atlanta, in between it's incarnations.

  • What I wouldn't give to be a PRODUCER !!! These guys look like they're having SOOOOO much fun. Hot chick, great locales, rockin' song. Thanks for sharing. : )

  • Who's the girl I wonder? Great lookin'.

  • Hard to believe its been 30 years! I would have been a junior in high school, so this music really brings it all back. The best days gone by...I guess mom and dad were right-the older you get the faster time seems to go-too bad things aren't like they used to be-not just being a little younger, but if I could freeze time and live in one era, I think this would be it!

  • marshall crenshaw sensibilities pop rocks

  • FYI to all Producer lovers....you can now purchase this incredible song on itunes!!!!!!

  • @skihounds4 You lie! Seriously?

  • Wow. Thank you so much for posting this. What an underrated band.

  • A good song is a good song and this has held up pretty damn well after 30 years.

  • I play (DJ) a lot of 80s school reunions and this song still rocks a party. As well as Rock Lobster and a whole lotta INXS. Miss the underage days seeing the 'Ducers on the President Riverboat in New Orleans.

  • Nobody can rock a keytar likee Wayne Famous!

  • Haven't bent my knees while dancing like that since the 80's. Gotta run and get some pink sweats. Seriously great song and original (Thats original). Swear it would sell well today.

  • Your wife has excellent taste... These guys had it all going on.....they could have been superstars.....

  • The Producers (with The Connells and Drivin' n' Cryin') was my first concert. Macon, GA, 1988.

  • Screw a buncha nostalgia for the '80's--the era of Reagan and the ascendancy of the Yuppie! This is a great song, tho--very hooky--coming from the cultural era of the skinny tie and the scrunched-up-sleeve sportcoat. The Producers were fun to see at 688 or similar Atlanta dives. did they ever play L5P Pub??

  • DAMMIT I MISS THE 80'S! ! ! !

  • I jammed at Auburn with my band back then and they have the greatest, crazy fans in the U.S. The lead singer for Producers has one of the most gifted voices.

  • always wanted to have a keyboard strapped like a guitar ... I think I tried it once with my Roland Alpha Juno and sprained my neck for a week!

  • @jlcontarino Those went from being a keyboard to a "keytar" once you strapped it like a guitar. :)

  • 80s girls had the best legs and asses ever!! to bad alot were flat chested lol

  • @boats752 What's wrong with women being flat-chested? I prefer those women to the Barbie doll wannabes we have today.

    Anyways, this band totally rocks!

  • this was a heavily produced ditty come to think of it.

lets see, saw them play on the riverboat president back in the day...

    watch?v=JSDgV3vD3_M

then vegemite sandwiches happened and psuedo music invaded she sheila's head,

  • They played at Auburn U. a few times, just a lot of fun...

  • meet god mj bands suck today get it noise is today this is god

  • where have the 80's gone???????

  • Who was "Sheila" in the video...????

  • I have a short list of 80s bands who should have been bigger. These guys, Cock Robin, a few others. Pop music heroism strikes just a few, and not all the deserving get there.

  • LONG LIVE THE KEYTAR!

  • This was back n the day when MTV was the only thing we all watched!!!!

  • Wow! this brings back a lot of memories. Shit!!! it also reminds me that I'm getting old.

  • Wow! this brings back a lot of memories. Shit!!! it also remonds me that I'm getting old.

  • what a great band. Aggieville, Ks. Brothers Tavern a very enjoyable time in my life

  • @tprusik81 i think I was there. Mid-late 80s, or was it earlier? I drove up from Emporia to see these guys. Can't remember the year. Was quite drunk. Also saw The Rainmakers in Lawrence within a few years of that.

  • Awesome tune!

  • This band is like Loverboy if Sheldon Cooper joined.

  • And my shoulder hurts sometimes from holding my Les Paul - I'm never gonna say another word after seeing Wayne jumping around carrying an entire keyboard.

  • Right on!

I played drums for a Seattle band "Wish" in the early 80's. We'd blast "You Make The Heat" to and from gigs and practices. Shela and the Producers still rock me to this day

  • Now Sheila's in my head. Dang that lady is pretty.

  • One of my favoriates from the 80's too!

  • WAYYNE FAMOUS!!!!!

  • This has turned to my place for music. Mtv-sucks!, VH1- reality shit! Thank God at lest we can come to youtube to hear REAL music!

  • @mach1franco hell yeah! i sing this song all the tiome and today i decided to look it up and there it is! i stay on this ALL the time finding old stuff. i l;ove it!

  • Sheila is a bitch...Give me the keyboardist...he's quiet but not to much. He begins the song and finishes it at the end. Give me HIM!! He looks like fun and lovey...

  • Tremednous song...and that woman is gorgeous!

  • Absolutely love this song and video! My opinion? Sheila's an idiot!!

  • The Best Video of all time! 80's Greaties! Remember when MTV was "Music Television"? Now it's Jigggaboo crap. Where is the music? Now it's empty V!

  • This is one of the most sublime keyboard intros to any song, ever.

  • I saw these guys live in Omaha, NE back in 1986. Great concert.

  • Did I buy Thriller, Police, Prince, Madoona, Cars? Nope--I bought this album

  • genius

  • I remember when this video came on MTV. Takes me back to the 80's when I was young. Good times...

  • Awesome song! Tight playing; enough hooks for 10 songs; a catchy, sing-a-long chorus. How this didn't push them to the top is a mystery.

  • great song. the way she looks at me she might as well be blind. Great line, I used to sing it all the time.

  • saw them way 2 nuch at cameron village underground in raleigh

  • damn near 30 years ago,..............wow

  • She Shelia's in mind....

  • fuck athens

  • I saw them twice back in the day. A great, tight live band.

  • more more, i need more than the 5 or 6 songs here... very nice, thx for uploading!

  • Geeze. i haven't heard this in 20 years. thanx for posting this lost gem!

  • awesome new wave synth my cup of tea

  • I got to see them in Virginia Beach, VA back in '88. I always loved this track in particular and STILL can't believe people used to dress and dance like that in the 80's, even though I was one of 'em. AWESOME song!

  • Excelete. I Like play...!!!

  • One of the 80s best.

  • I played keyboards in a band in Phoenix in the 80s. Man, I LOVED playing this song. Also, "What's He Got." Those were the days, huh?

  • @tomerikac1 I know what you mean. I played bass in a band in PA in the '80s and this was one of our staples. This is a great song to play live and I loved singing it.

  • Bryan Holmes is an insanely good drummer if you listen to their albums in their entirety. Great work!

  • NOTHING BEATS THE 80S

  • Y CAMBIANDO UN POCO LA ONDA,....UNO DE LOS TEMAS MAS EMOCIONANTES DE LOS 80,.... DISFRUTENLO,....

  • really really miss them! would love to find there cd with paying $50 bucks for a used box set!

  • ONE MORE GREAT BAND FROM GEORGIA. They join: REM, Indigo Girls, B52s, Atlanta Rythym Section, Georgia Satellites, and a favorite if mine; Drivin N Cryin. KANSAS also lived in and recorded in Georgia. To be 1982 again. Those were GOOD TIMES, really good times. Class of 84 RULES!

  • Saw Kyle tonight!

  • They really weren't new wave, but power pop!!!

  • Funny enough, back when this was new, people thought my buddy and I were fags for listening to new wave.

  • excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • saw them in rome ga. when they came out and where did they go? good sound.

  • Someone make sony release this in MP3 format already!

  • One of the greatest 80s songs ever

  • what a kick ass rockin song !!!!!!!

  • i wish i could find this song for my iPod

    thanx for posting

  • This band was one of the first SUPER hit groups on the new MTV in 81. Too many people have forgotten this treasure. These guys are FROM MY TOWN, along with Drivin' n' Cryin'. Atlanta is big band country. REM, B52's, Georgia Satellites only a few miles away in that little UGA college town. Its good too be a Georgia boy!

  • amen amen!...many unique and original sounding bands from your general hood back in the day...right there with ya my friend...wish i had been there back in the day! love this stuff

  • Thanks for posting. I've had this song rolling around in my head for about.....20 years now...

  • Pan-Pacific Auditorium =(

  • Part of my high school soundtrack for a 1982 grad!

    Great Song!

  • Saw them @ Six Flags over Georgia in I think 82 as a side band located by the haunted house...I'll Never forget it, they were great, I had to stop and listen to their whole set.

  • GOSH I LOVE THIS SONG ............SO MANY MEMORIES

  • OMG this totally takes me back !!! I LOVE THIS

    Thanks

  • ROCK THAT KEYTAR!

  • Forgotten by whom?

  • It took me so damn long to find anything from the producers that stupid movie comes up everytime..

  • What a great band! Got to see these guys around 79 at Dekalb College in Atlanta, they were opening up for the band we wanted to see called The Dixie Dregs. How blessed was I to see this band , just up and coming. They deserved a little more than being dropped after there second album. Truly a great band with real talent.

  • Love this song...brings back lots of great memories...

  • The best band that never made it! I remember seeing them in college many times and they were as good or better live than recorded! Thnaks for the memories

  • magic.

  • This video is an axiom of early 80s stylistic sensibilities... a four minute and thirty-one second time capsule.

  • I love everything about the Producers, except i cant buy the cd,i never get tired of this energy, they are one of the best to be from Georgia, love always

  • I'm a guitar player by trade but just spent 15 mins figuring that amazing intro on the synth. I'm going to have to learn this whole tune - it rocks! These guys are pretty inactive right now on their website :(

  • Wish I could go back to then.

  • WISH I COULD GO BACK

  • Great band!

I've still got the1st album autographed.

  • Funny you would mention Adam Ant because according to this bands lead singer Van Temple....Portrait records almost literally flipped a coin to decide which act they would put promotion and money behind....Adam Ant won the toss and The Producers faded into history.

  • @odstassault I heard a similar story about Galactic Cowboys and Nirvana! Either way, Geffen Records are crooks... look at what they did to The Semantics and countless other great bands. Sigh!

  • @GalacticCowboy Nirvana made it though..........damn......Lets get together and Put The Producers in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!!!!.....let me hear an AMEN!!!!!!

  • @Keyholdman Amen, Brotha! :)

  • @odstassault Thats really sad to hear dude....if true......Last time I saw them was in Augusta, Ga......and it was Waynes Bday.......40th.......and to hear that crap makes me sick.......they were and still are an awesome group!!!

  • Need this song on I-Tunes!!!!!

  • @bz2czy I couldn't find it *anywhere*, which led me to find a torrent or newsgroup posting.....I would rather have given The Producers some cash.

  • Me in my 280 Z, cruising on a Saturday night, and a case full of cassettes! Ahhhhhh the 80"s

  • Saw them live in my country, Dominican Republic!

  • hey does anybody know where you can get the Producers CDs or do you have to get itunes or mp3s

  • @bighueypilot theproducers - org The band's site should direct you. Or try gemm. You can guess the rest of the extension.

  • Only one guy could afford sleeves.

  • Great band! Used to see them play weekends on the river boat President at the end of Canal street in New Orleans... Early 80's

  • One of my all time favorite bands!

  • 1982 Casa de Campo Dominican Republic!

What a show! Songs still sound amazing.

  • @Dj2Splash: "ditto," although we saw them in SD! Wow, the memories!!

  • This ones for Kelly!

  • Yes! I'm from Atlanta and I remember going to their shows in the late 80's. Awesome song...totally. Little 80's lingo.

  • Wayne Famous is the Man

  • Classic!

  • Nice.

  • Nice.

  • What a great band they were. I still play the record from time to time!!

  • I saw them in college, was AWESOME!

  • What stinks is that their album, "You Make The Heat" is out of print, now. Collectors charge almost $50.00 for a Cassette, Vinyl, or $75.00-$100.00 for a rare CD copy.

  • @octaviusmaxx You're right. There's one used cassette of this on eBay right now and the seller wants $30 for it!

  • IT IS TO BAD THESE GUYS DID NOT HAVE A BRITISH ACCENT, THEY WOULD HAVE MADE IT HUGE. STILL YOU GOT TO LOVE AMERICAN ROCK

  • Ahhh... memories of a carefree summer chasin' girls, playin' guitar and generally loving life! Thanks for posting this. Awesome.

  • Saw The Producers two years in a row on New Years in Ft Lauderdale in the early 80's. Great live band!

  • great early mtv band & song!!!!

  • an all time classic!

  • Is it just my stupid computer, or does the video go out of sync with the actual singing after a minute or so?

  • Un súper clásico de la New Wave!

    A New Wave super classic!

  • One of my favorites from the 80s.

  • Was the musical landscape throughout the Eighties superior to those that now entertain current youth? That's a tough call. There were an array of good artists in that decade (just as there is in any given era) although many of them struggled to appear on the charts (such as the Producers). Did Adam And The Ants, Big Country, or Echo And The Bunnyman really possess more value than contemporary acts such as the Donnas, My Morning Jacket and the White Stripes? I doubt it.

  • Comment removed

  • I saw these guys in Denver. Was living in Grand Junction,CO and got to meet the band. The next day a buddy and I went to denver and got in the concert free. It's good to have a couple of beers with the band....they remember that..........lol

  • Man, DeeCee CT is so right. Bryan played his ass off on these records. Strong, innovative grooves that were radio-friendly but a little different. Very Stewart Copeland-ish.

  • God! This so reminds me of summertime in the early 80's!!!!! Who says theres no such thing as time travel.

  • I remember when this song came out. I was 16 and the world was a much better place.

  • Sometimes lost in the shuffle is the tremendous drumming by Bryan! Great song craft always from The Producers.

  • They just played this song on our rock station 92.7 in Bend, Oregon as a request. What a time-warp to a still-cool song!!!

  • @StingrayGhost

Hey Stingray. I grew up in Atlanta and went to high school with Van Temple, lead guitar and vocals. A great guy from a great family. I moved to Bend in "96 - small world thanks to music!

  • man i love this song. it was way before my time but this was probably my favorite song growing up. Im only 22 lol.

  • Simple song, but loved it. Was mesmerized when I was a senior in high school. Must have been just the whole lighthearted vibe of attraction

  • Great song & one of the best videos ever--love when Wayne's coat flys away! There a couple of live versions here on YT, one from back then, one from '09, & these guys were/are skin tight musicians & they nail those harmonies. This version's great because the video is so much fun & Sheila is HOT! No tortured artists pouting & crying to save the world (just buy our CDs), no loud, stupid chest thumping braggadocio, just a catchy, fun song about hot girl--this is how it's done, you 2010 poseurs!

  • I totally agree! this sound is as relevant today as it was back in the eighties'. At least i got to see them in San Juan, Puerto Rico!!! Awesome, their sound is almost as exact as their live performance (minus the small and un-noticeable mis chords or key's (i guess that's what makes it live!)

  • true bfall66

  • I haven't seen this video since....1982! I had just moved to Atlanta in June of '82, and got my first experience with MTV & cable. I had a black TransAm w/ T-tops, and enjoyed those young years!!!

  • @joltinjack

    1982? how old were you? ( I was 17)

  • @befudld - I was 22 in June of '82, and turned 23 on Oct. 19 that year.

  • Why can't there be a channel dedicated to actually playing classic music like this!

  • this is great! i loved this band so much back in the day and drove all over Georgia and Florida to see them. good memories. thank you so much for positng!

  • Takes me back to high school days. What a trip to hear this again, it's like activating parts of my brain from the past. I remember when this first came out on MTV, they played it all the time.

  • Great song

  • Love it !!!!!!!!!

  • Freakin love this one !!! Timeless

  • who remembers She Sheila by The Producers? Or rather, who will admit it...Loved this song!

  • fake rick neilson

  • I'd rather hear this 28 year old song than 99.9% of the new shit out there today.

  • A great year with great music....I miss them both.Thank you Producers!

  • Waynefamous - one of the best Hammond B3 players ever..no telling how many times the B3 was hauled around..lol..what rich music came out of that organ..electronics cannot compare.

  • I am HOOKED on this song!

  • This band just popped into my head yesterday but I could not remember any of their songs. As soon as I heard this it all came back. I saw them as the opener for Kansas in 1983 and more people wanted to see them than Kansas. It's a shame that I never hear them on the radio any more!

  • AWESOME.. Memories Memories. Thank You For This.!

  • I loved the Producers! I followed them all over Atlanta back in the day! I wondered what ever happened to them!

  • another treasure of the 80's!!!!
