There's a good number of proper anthropologists who'd disagree with that idea that we're bad things and it's not just because they find the idea icky. Supposedly wild violent peoples have been studied before and they find that it's like these guys said here (before they forgot moments later): it's generations of war and hardship that make entire peoples violent and terrible. Which isn't humans being 'left to our own devices' at all. Quite the opposite. Situations can't be reduced that easily.
