I agree with onty23...i never really lived in Naija like dat..but it is still no excuse for my parents not involving us in Naija culture, the little i have is what i have scrounged up myself....and it is the worst not knowing how to speak ur own language...yes i speak superb english but to hell with that....i pay for it now not being able to flow wit my igbo peeps...
Not until you move out from naija's area, you will never appreciate what the common musicians are making towards the positive contribution to the economic growth of failed nation called Nigeria. Everybody is trying to maintain his or her icon which is more appreciated in advanced countries. Remember, all these kinds of musics make naijas to be stress free despite poor leadership who do not plan simple welfare amenities to teaming population. Ride on Obesere, Fuji o ni ku lagbara Baba Loke.
I must say this without hoping to provoke or respond to any controversy: Obesere murdered the Woro music that comes with the "Aju se fun wa o" song. By murdered I mean he ruined it. The reason is first because he failed to make his drummers provide the right accompaniment; the second, more important reason, is because he should have delivered the song in the Ijebu dialect, where it comes from. Instead he does it in Eko; Barrister who is also from Ibadan, frequently does songs in other dialects.
Obesere: "If you want to fire me, fire me make I die. I will never follow you to that station."
Me: Na sooo. Lol.
When I was young and in Nigeria, I thought Obesere was razz (nigerian slang, ultimately meaning subpar). Now that I'm outside Nigeria, I find this song very entertaining and not razz at all.
I guess the older we get and the farther we are away from home, the wiser and more appreciative we tend to become of our culture. Nigerian for life!
Partly because some of our parents and biosphere also look down on our culture as exemplified by the typical don't speak anything but english crap forced on kids.
You can never appreciate naija musikz like this until u leave the shores of naija...coz no mata where u go, just play these songs and you will definitely miss home in your new "home"...9ja 4liv...fileeeeeeeeeee
What an ignorant comment. Does Nigeria have more diversity in culture and music than does the U.S? The answer is yes. Be specific if u know what u are talking about.
It is people like you who are lost, even the so call western music you like you are the worst listener you big fool, idiot useless slave, who even want you in the Nigeria music industry, shut up and go and eat shit take piss wash your mouth stupid fool, where are you Mr OYINBO ODE?
