  • He has opposed nothing that was unpopular with his constituents. The only thing he is good at is getting elected.

  • That one guy was in the state legislature a few years, and in Congress for one term. That Lincoln guy. Clinton was the governor of Arkansas for 12 years, and Kennedy didn't have a whole lot of experience either. Those were some great presidents who lacked real experience. Lincoln the most. he hadn't been around very long.

  • judgment, vision, character...and the plan??

  • What kind of prior experience does a president need ??? Eisenhower, considered a good president, was a military general. Today he's be blasted as having no 'experience' to be president because he was never a senator or governor. Obama is a senator and Palin is a governor. They both have 'experience' but so what - It's all B.S. and NOBODY knows how good or bad a president-elect will end up being until he's beenm president for a while.

  • Obama isn't fit to run a McDonalds.

  • @BigRoid fuck you.

  • good point. one of our worst presidents was practicly bred for the job but failed , its almost like he was conditioned to an automatic response that he had no imagination, no vision. but there needs to be a balence because expirience is vital, things dont always work out " in theory", its much more complicated than that.

  • You're looking at our next president. First order of business, bring our troops home. Second order of business, fix our antiquated copyright laws.

  • yohannesyw, I agree that you don't need experience to have a vision, but just having a vision is also a joke. ANYONE can have a vision. Obama has poor judgment. Just look at who he surrounds himself with: A racist pastor who believes that the white-run government created AIDS to destroy blacks.

  • Experiences? Well, tell us how we got into this mess to begin with? By an experienced governor from Texas AND we did it again based on an experienced, hands-on president from the previous 4 years. Yeah, tell me about experience.

  • One of Barack Obama's argument is, it's essential to get it right on the First Day.

But he couldn't possibly be the one to tout on Judgement when he himself have avoided making judgements himself by voting for "Present" for more than a hundred legislation.

This is someone who cannot vote for "Yes" or "No" and this lack of courage is certainly not someone experienced enough to lead on the First Day!

  • Sure you dont need experiance to have a vision and Obama does have agift to bring people together in the U.S.However what happens when he comes to foreign policy where he has as much experiance as a high school history student.Dealing with the middle east, contaning the economy when dealing with rising international powers(china, india,UK ect) and to have this kind of experiance and judgement as he claims to already have you have to be in washington for some time not just one year.

  • The first question of the Democratic debate tonight assumed that the next president may face a nuclear attack on the US. If George W Bush were president in 1962 (instead of JFK) we would have had a US invasion of Cuba & possibly a nuclear attack on the US> Even though I'm a woman, I don't trust Clinton's temperament & ability to surround herself with people of all stripes. That's what JFK did in 1962, and that's what I trust that Barack Obama would do.

  • Fired Up! Ready to Go!

  • We have been trying to vote for "the lesser of two evils" my question is, why do we keep voting for evil?

  • Eight years from now, huh? It's amazing how people parrot what they hear from the media. I love how no one seems to question how Hillary is getting her numbers of "experience." If Laura Bush or even Eleanor Roosevelt was running for Senate, I somehow doubt anyone would count their being married to the president as the kind of experience needed to lead the country.

  • It is actually better not to have Washington experience for a president. If you don't believe me check the last presidents. You decide who happened to do the jib better:

    Bush: Lifetime experience

    Chaney: Almost lifetime experience

    Clinton: No experience

Bush Senior: Longtime experience - CIA, etc.

Reagan: Very short 4 years experience in California

    ...

    ...

    Jorge Washington: No Experience

  • I don't buy it Obama. You are the Jr. Senator from Illinois. I think you are a good guy, but president? Maybe in 8 years when you have had some experience.

  • 8 years from now will be too late, don't you understand that? "The fierce urgency of now" is not thrown around lightly, it actually means there is something that needs to be done NOW... not in 8 years.

  • The country needs a vision, that's what the president's for...bringing together many different views...what Obama has accomplished will benefit us greatly on a large scale... people need to get with the program...this is the 21st century, a leader shows the courage and has demonstrated proper judgment......Clinton sleeziness is part of the 1990s...get with the program

  • Exactly what has Obama accomplished? What has he done in his 3 yeas in the senate, other than run for president and give good speeches? I think he is a good guy, but I don't equate his ability to give a good speech with ability to be the leader of the free world.

  • ILLINOIS

-Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state

-Worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases

  • Really? Is that what you consider qualifications for the presidency? Obama is the shepherd and you are the sheep. Good luck with that.

  • I suggest you check his website instead of being a troll

  • Like it or not, Obama is likely to win the nomination. The FL/MI delegates cannot and will not be seated because it was never a level playing field. As CNN analysts suggested, it's like taking a warmup before a bball game and then afterwards saying that it should count.

What qualifies as "Experience" for the presidency is vague. It's not something which can be easily defined. The reason Obama is running for President is because of what MLK calls the fierce urgency of NOW.

  • If the election were to be held today, and Obama was the Democratic choice, I would vote for McCain. If Clinton was the candidate, I would vote for her. I just can't get behind this guy because, to me, he has not proven any ability to run the country. I really like the guy, I am just not convinced he is ready in 2008.

  • I would do the same, SkylineTime, except substitute if Clinton were the democratic choice (I would vote for McCain). It isn't about the issues to me so much as ethical behavior. Hillary seems very self-serving to me.

  • Additionally, I ask you to look at what Obama has done so far and predict how he would apply it on the big-scale. The energy he brings...the man is brilliant.

Further, the economy has very little to do with who is President. It has its cycles. Historically Americans have voted with their pocketbooks. Since the economy is poor (only temporary), it's almost certain a Democrat will be President.
