The sound is a bit off, but I like the idea. You could make something for SNES or DS with Metroid Zero Mission graphics and all of the items from the 2D Metroid games, as well as the Boost ball and Phazon suit. You could start out with the following: Morph Ball, Missiles, Bombs, Ice Beam, Long Beam, Charge Beam.

Sounds like you're just changing the graphics.

You need to change the "Clipdata" as well, it basically instructs the game that tile at X:Y should do "this".

So you could place a floor-tile graphic, and it could actually be a block, or maybe it could be acid! Up to you.

No, the tool just lets you modify all the maps and stuff.

I just called it this hack a sandbox because that's pretty much was it was, not a serious attempt at redesigning the game.

Sandbox is something I created by myself as a "Sandbox" hack, I haven't released a patch because everything I did was in this video.

How did you do that? Small edits and savings, or in one whole sitting? And how did you get a working crocomire, successful deletion of enemies and successful music changes?

It's all a bit complicated, but here's how you do things...I think.

Getting Crocomire to work requires editing the enemy set for a room, certain rooms like where you find the Varia suit, refer to a preset group of enemies.

You "delete" enemies by changing the number in a room somewhere, I think it's in the room header.

Music changes is just selecting a number from a dropdown list and saving changes, one of the easiest things to do. When you start the game, the music is always the same though.

Funny, I was playing around just earlier.

It's simple, you can edit Level Layer (graphics), foreground (infront), backlayer (behind) or CLIP DATA.

You want to edit the clip data of a block, set it to 10 - Block to make a solid block.

Play around, see what you can make.

Well, I would just like to inform you that you should get Double Helix instead.

Double Helix is also made by interdeph, he gave up Zero Fission and started that.

It has more features like a door editor.

Although still in the works...
