  • damn the instrumental alone brings a tear (or two) to my eye. it's gorgeous. reminds me of a simpler time, back in my high school days. this song is nostagic for me

  • Getting old only has a small part to do with it. It's mainly because he hasn't continued to stay active in the game. People like KRS, GZA, even Cypress Hill all continue to allow themselves to be inspired and keep going. I you think about it, Rap is a very young genre in terms of music. So we havent really seen if there can be a 60 year old rapper still doing his thing, much like the rolling stones. Kane probably hasn't been real active omong his peers as opposed to Premo or even Pete Rock.

  • What happened to Kane's voice and flow? Damn too bad he's getting old.

  • wow this sounds like tupac

  • good tune and a good album too.

  • where;s big daddy abel? ..joke

  • i made a beat with this same sample back in 2000, niggas didnt understand what i was tryna do ...oh well too late now!...i told em

  • Love JJ's style. Rappers rapping realistically with great reflection of rappers and the industry itself.

Some of JJ's tracks I like because they have even a nice comical edge.

    Man is dope, don't test.

  • @quicktolisten Yup, the one and only Bob James, the man whose had more of his joints jacked by R&B and true hiphop heads than almost anyone else, save James Brown. (Source of this beat: "Angela (Theme from TAXI)", from his 1978 album TOUCHDOWN.)

  • "We even see how fatal diseases be. Snatchin playas like Eazy-E easily."

Ain't that the truth. R.I.P. Eazy!

  • some beautiful stuff here. is jazzy jeff underground hip hop? his stuff sounds awesome :)

  • he might be now but back in the day with will smith he was a massive star

  • Jazzy is doing some serious traveling all over the world DJ-ing on an appointment basis. dude is kept busy all the time. He also produced Jill Scott`s first album

  • you don't get songs like this anymore. hip-hop right now pretty much sucks. it's all about money. all the creativity is gone...that's why i enjoy listenin to old school more than the current singles in the charts

  • I fukcing absolutely love this tune..

    .so fucking mellow -- chiiiil

  • watch?v=ElbBVFUUgjw

    Better then this vid.

  • check my video for this track.... it's more then just an album cover.

  • Kane should just keep his old M/O, not try to adapt like he has been doing. i think there is a market for his old style, or more so than for what he has been trying to do in the last few years. you should always play up your strength.

  • Kane's always been adapting homie. Never in his point did he remain a static emcee. He's always been a dynamic artist, trying to find ways to innovate himself... Hell, he even says that in this track if you actually listened to it.

  • And is it a coincidence that he happens to be "innovating himself" in the same direction that the rest of rap music has been going?

  • If you ask me, it's because the industry hasn't responded to the need. People like Big Daddy Kane only reinforce the urge to get more record deals out to talented emcee's.

On another note, it's really what the concept of the album was based on. (which was "The Return of the Magnificent" not "The Magnificent" btw)

  • dam that beat is tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight

  • The K.A.N.E in effect!!!!

  • lol somehow he reminds me or Ryder from GTA San Andreas

  • wheres his hair?? lol i liked his hair

  • FRESH

  • It's 5 am, so chilled

  • Gawd damn, this is smoove!

  • Sample ID - Bob James - Angela (Theme from Taxi)

  • this shits real rapper need to listen and pay attention !

  • This is by far one of the GREATEST Hip Hop Tracks I've heard. EVER. Now only if it wasn't censored. But I have the CD.

  • 95% of these so called rappers should hear this and lay their mics down in humiliation and tribute.

  • @celestialnubian - This is very true. Although after 1992 all of the 80's greats couldn't even hold their own mics. Big Daddy never fell off, the times changed so he went to R&B.

  • This track is crazzzzzzy!

  • this beat is so jazzy jeff i would know that he did this even if i didnt know, and Kane is a pimp

  • I gotta have this album, must be tha shit!

KANE still runs tha art of MCeeeing!!!!
