@iMakeRand0mVids I love James Taylor for the same thing, my parents would play it when I was yonger and now we go and see high live together. Some of the best days of my life.
This song makes me cry because I had so many memories as child and I growing up listening to James taylor because of my dad. I love this man. God bless you James taylor.
Fire and Rain how fantastic, this song is done so beautifully James!!!! I love your voice, the longer you sing the better you sound through the years. Great, Great!!!
This song is actually about his then fiancee Suzanne. His friends had paid for her flight to "surprise" him when he was on tour in the 70's. Tragically, her plane crashed, thats why in the LAST verse he sings, "sweet dreams and fine machines and PIECES ON THE GROUND"
@jennyfergordon Actually Suzanne didn't die in a plane crash. She committed suicide whaen James was in England recording. The reference to Flying machines was a band he was in early in his career.
Pure honesty and a voice that will never die. If you believe in God, you are now listening to the voice of an angel.
James is blessed with talent beyond my comprehension; and I am blessed because I've had over forty years to listen to this beautiful man sing. I could easily listen to him 24 hours a day. He makes my life better.
God bless you, Sweet Baby James.... and thank you for sharing this with me.
As a Guitar Player of 40 Years I enjoy Playing This Song. People Love it and It has a special Meaning for me. I Reached for my Martin and Played Along with this song. It's Been a Long Time, but It Still Feel's The Same. Thanks JT.
The song is actually divided in to three parts. First part is about his friends death. Second is about his heroin addiction. Third, being institutionalized and the break up of his band.
@retafmil I actually didn't notice that.. I will try to look up that interview.. I had listened to him explain how he wrote the song before... very interesting.
I was born in the wrong decade.
