Forget everbody downstage, look upstage............Charlie Watts stage left, Kenny Jones stage right and Ray Cooper in the center.........holy schmoly!
WOW...I was at this show at the Garden, 16 years old and completely blown away and never forgot this show. I have been looking for years to nail down the details of the show. Then found it on You tube. WOW, cool...great show... I can when Clapton played Layla that night like it was yesterday. remember my friend passed out during Jeff Beck, too. I still break his b@lls!!! 25+ years later. Just bought tickets for Clapton/Beck for Feb 09, MSG, NYC Clapton better bring his "A-Game", Jeff Beck Rocks
OMG ... EC was about to bring the house down ... he had the groove going, oh Joe I know it's your song, but you should have let him go a little longer, damn it! You can't go back in time and get back that solo that was just starting to brew!
wow - the one who is doing the "percussion" (in German) behind Joe is really great - I know, I m unacceptable clueless, but I really don't know, who he is
It's Ray Cooper - I believe. If so, then he's a session guy who has played with Elton John primarily in the 1970s and others Brit bands and Eric Clapton..
This song is great! Keyboard and drumming especially
I don't know what year it is but Clapton has no beard and Ray Cooper still has hair. Someone else will need to do the math. Thats the best I can do. God bless.
This was a gathering of Britain's greatest musicians.(3 former Yardbirds guitarists and 4/6ths of the Stones) It was a benefit tour to raise money for Ronnie Lane. 12/8/83 at Madison Square Garden.This is the exact running order of the show. Eric Clapton,Jeff Beck,Jimmy Page,Ron Wood,Bill Wyman,Charlie Watts,Ian Stewart,Joe Cocker,Ronnie Lane,Kenny Jones,Jan Hammer,Chis Stainton,Simon Phillips,Paul Rogers,Andy Fairweather Lowe,Ray Cooper,Fernando Saunders,James Hooker,Glyn Johns,Bill Graham.
Thanks for the info! I remember when they did this, I just didn't get to see it. Thanks sooooo much for the post. I am A Ronnie Lane Fan as well and miss what he brought to the table on the projects he was involved with.

Sorry, ...but this performance is horrible!!!
Ron is playing it like "Plynth" or something..
And Eric has decided to do "Rock and Roll Heart" instead!
Bill Wyman is probably used to all this nonsense going out...
But Dave Mason (,,and Joe Cocker!) deserves better!!!
..the elecctric piano isn't bad...
But that lazy-thought "dramatic" ending sucks, too.
I ain't feeling "alright" about this!
