The thing about arcade games period was to make money.

Bosses like that were called quarter eaters or drainers for that exact reason. It's meant to drag on so you've got to keep putting those quarters in to finish it. The ending didn't have to be totally spectacular since most of the time you never got there anyway.

There is actually a setting on that game as to how long a life lasts it's all about making the green. so you'd be lucky to last 45 seconds to a minute before you died

I'm more used to playing the Sega Genesis port of this game than the Arcade/MAME original. I have played and beaten this version, though.

I would have rather preferred playing this with a light gun/controller you had to "reload" than with a light gun/control pad with infinite ammo but limited gunpower.

I finished this with my friend back in the day in the arcade. We cleaned out cyberdyne completely. The only difference in the ending was it said something like the future is what you make it instead of cyberdyne research continues. Pretty lame.
