  • Kut kwaliteid!

  • wiked so ancient beat..that is cool

  • Without these old blues guys there would be no rock or popular music at all. These men are disappearing from this earth and with them, their music. This is the real deal, there is nothing like this ever again. Blues is the backbone of all American music.

  • If you don't like this there is something wrong with you,

  • fuken epic man

  • If you don't know the blues...there's no point in picking up the guitar and playing rock and roll or any other form of popular music.

    -Keith Richards

  • Thank you Britain!

Thank you John, Paul, George, Ringo, and other British Bands for keeping this music alive!

  • Mafia II Rules

  • Uncle Ben sure can dance

  • Everyone got laid that night.

  • I love all of his songs I know... I do not care if a good music is played by a black man...

He was a genious I think. Greetings from Europe, Hungary.

  • I loved this song! And I went crazy when I heard it at Contraband

  • 1:47

    Is hilarious

  • I'm always amazed at how many of today's young (under 40) blacks are unaware of the blues. To lose touch with such a marvelous musical heritage is tragic. It seems wrong for a middle aged white guy like me to tell a young black dude about the blues. Once they've been exposed to music like this, the current crop pf crap will fall by the wayside.

  • @sabartholomew aint it the truth

  • @coled84 Maybe those of us who love the blues can expose one person each day to this music...especially during black history month.

  • @sabartholomew Music like this is an absolute masterpiece and a treasure beyond worth. Some of these black musicians have given us something really special.

  • @brewcrewfan31 I'm posting one classic bllues video on my facebook page for the rest of the month. So far, I;ve posted Big Mama Thornton,Luther Allison, Howling Wolf, Matt Murphy, and today this piece.

  • Now this is music

  • Mafia 2

  • Hey is this a cover of the classic Vengaboys tune?

  • Is that the Cream of Wheat cook at 1:50?

  • i love it but why the quality have to be that bad!?

  • MAfia 2 Trailer :)

  • Boom, boom, boom, esto es música.

  • talk about racists, here in Australia in early 1829 it was declared open season on Black aboriginie,s in tasmania, of the whole black population (mind you they have been the 40,000 years to date,)white only a few hundred years00,the white,s killed evey black person that moved,,((all but 1000 souls)),nearly wiped them out entirley,an people wonder why they have an attitude towards white folks, cant blame them really, the white poms back then have a shit load to answer for,,,,

  • @barnfres60 fuck off cunt. its ass holes like you that make them think its ok to act like fucking idiots.

Its not our generations fault, so why should we pay the price?

  • @ellismoore1993 get therapy!!!!!and lots of hard drugs, you need it !!!!

  • @barnfres60 Stop being a fuckwit, that was in the past and guess what would have happened if the whites hadn't have come and fixed Australia. There would be nothing but a bunch of uncivilized abos squatting in the bush. It was terrible what happened but it wa in the past and progress has a price.

  • @barnfres60 i dont think people read your post carefully or they would've seen you weren't talkin about the current generation . I agree , mass murder and slavery aren't something anyone should agree with , no matter if between races or not . I'll be honest with you , the thought alone of a man mistreating another cause of the color of his skin disgusts me . God bless ye .

  • @Zleepy187 i know, thats the trouble, people cant read and hence dont understand, except to reply the same way the white folks did back then when they would kill you for even having a point of view?much like the comments ive recieved, thank god they are only aloud to use the key board and not make decissions..Yeeks !!!take care mate !!!

  • Its not racist. every time I go see anybody who plays the blues like him Buddy Guy or what have you the audience is white. I can't help it if we all like the blues... rock on!

  • AWESOME SHYT THANKS FOR THE GREAT VOICE AND ROCK&ROLL....

  • Cool dance moves by the Cream Of Wheat® spokesmodel at 1:49!

  • 18 people got shot right down

  • i asked the holy spirit for a sigh, and this music came up

  • This is great but all the audience is white, even the other band payers are white. Indicative of the racist segregation they had back then and possibly even now...

Blues shaped me fom an angle and will always love it. I'm white and no, not fashionably being a blues fan...

  • @Keithaki Actually, this appears to have been filmed in the UK.

It'd not have been too easy to find many black europeans back in the 60s :P

  • @Keithaki Complete nonsense. He's playing in England. The band is white because they're local. There was no segregation. The audience is white because the country was white. The fairly small black population were mostly Caribbean and had their own music, the blues boom was a white phenomenon. You would probably claim to be *against* prejudice, and yet here you are pre-judging (that's what prejudice means) this entire situation as racist, all based wrong assumptions.

  • @PutItAway101 correct it was in England not far from where my great great grandmother was born and raised. I can say that there hardly was any segregation in england but there was a heck of alot of racism especially places today where you will find 'black populated areas' i.e. South London, Birmingham. Todays poll percentage of blacks in england is 2.9% especially where the East Anglia in the east of england where you hardly come across a black, jew, muslim, gay etc. I swear!

  • @Shane72634 That guy annoyed me. I've always found that self-appointed "anti-prejudice" white knights are often the most prejudiced people you'll ever find. They'll decide they know exactly what someone's opinions and motivations are based entirely on the colour of their skin or where they're from. They think that "racism" is the most serious accusation you can possibly make against someone, and yet they're happy to make the accusation with no evidence whatsoever, just assumptions.

  • So great !!!

  • Man these white people in this video were not READY!!!

  • thumbs up if MAFIA 2 brought u here :]

  • Damn, those guys killed that song, in an amazing way!!! Great vid!

  • this sounds so good on repeat.

  • IM 15 and i love him and B.B king ftw

  • @jokeer360 me too. These Times for music were so better than now ;/

  • this is the sense of life.

  • "Weapon of choice..." Love it.

  • Hahahahah. Look at that dancin. Go ahead and get yo groove on. Funny shit man. Good times

  • Just awesome....blues legend. One of the greats!

  • @YodaBannon Yes indeed he is

  • 98888888888888 views

  • hey shut up and enjoy this fantastic song!!

i hate fuckin racism and who plays it !!!

    boom boom!

  • When I was right out of boot camp in 1971, i got liberty in San Francisco. Me an' a couple of buds took the cable car from Market to Broadway and walked down that wikked street. We were debating which clip joint to go into. The swab from San Diego saw "John Lee Hooker" on the marque of the "Hungry I" and insisted we go there. I didn't know who JLH was but as soon as the music started, I was hooked. We stayed and drank gin till we had to get back to the ship. One of the best liberty's ever.

  • @RighteousWilly i wish i was with ya then as well,,thats a good story mate, one of the best on you tube, just love stuff like that from the past, god knows there,s not much doing these days,,, cheer,s mate sydney down under !!!!

  • @barnfres60 After boot camp I went to the Tonkin Gulf. Australians were about the only people I would meet that didn't hate American military men during Viet Nam. It was always good news when i would meet 'stralians in Hong Kong or elsewhere, so cheers back at 'cha.

  • @RighteousWilly what an era...great story....i went in service in 79....

  • @RighteousWilly Sounds like a movie

  • Look how shell shocked those white chicks look..rofl... they cant shake it at all..and of course.. all the black people wouldn't be allowed in.. gotta love this country..

  • @65kellys Remember that this clip comes from England in the early 1960's. There weren't too many black people in England then. As for the lack of a"Shake it" ability of the audience, watch the intent crowd around the black chef at 1:49 and 1:56. I believe they were taking notes. Another thing, about the "shell shocked" white chics, England was emerging from was the social and sexual constrictions of the Victorian era and women were just breaking loose in "Swinging England".

  • @RighteousWilly cool story , so jealous,,i was born 1968 in australia missed out ..doh..I thought he stopped the movie in the blues brothers

  • @wamediaonline Thanks for that! Another Blues musician I saw on Broadway in San Francisco was Jimmy Witherspoon, check his version of One Scotch,One Bourbon,One Beer!

  • sounds a little like zz top, except better

  • love blues <3

  • as 18 pessoas que não gostaram desse clipe não conhecem a raiz do blues!!!

  • @cachorrosmortos well I could understood you a half :P seriously :), or maybe they don't like the quality of the video, or are just emo kids

  • well first of all, you stated the "obvious" because you let those underlying stereotypical chords that have been drilled into our heads speak out. and apparently 4 people thought that your "joke" was funny. but personally, i didn't. also, I'm glad you know what "flagellate" and "masochist" mean. how fortunate of you to come across someone as perfect as me to get the chance to use them in a sentence. lastly, 100 years from now for all we know, history many look upon us like it looks upon germany

  • Thumbs up if you discovered this great music thanks to Mafia II

  • Damn computer wont get no louder!!!! hahahahaha

  • No matter how many times I watch this vid I always think....How cool was that man? His hip rating was well up, over and off the friggin chart.

  • A bluesman's bluesman. A rocker's rocker. An artist's artist. When the rubble of this civilization is unearthed, a thousand years from now, I hope they find this first. Then, hopefully, some Hendrix and maybe a little Fahey...

  • @jmatzkin

Then a bit of Elvis, Cochran and some Sinatra or Martin would be good.

  • Them some foot tappin tunes right dur...

  • High school graduation night......1969.....John Lee Hooker (Lydia Pense and Cold Blood too) played in my hometown that night.......still can't believe that....Modesto, CA.

  • Ya gotta love tha 1900's years

  • THE CHEF

  • white people can dance!!??!!

  • what's the go with everyone comparing great artists from way back to justin beiber... there is no comparison, so if your looking for validation from people you don't know then apply for a job as a paramedic but don't write these lame comments on youtube for a cheap thumb's up!

  • @downwithpants1 I'd give ya a thumbs up, but the thumbs up button is not the appreciation button. Appreciated.

  • I'm an 80's kid.......but I have to say, this is beautiful stuff.

  • @catch22yo 90's kid

  • don't say R.I.P, legends never die

  • Seems like all the funs on stage

  • i saw my dad singing this to my mom the other day 40 years togther and they still boom boom boom lol i love them

  • @mattibleq And you are a small-minded, ignorant twat. This video was filmed during the Civil Rights era of America, when there was still a LOT of racial tension in America, and when the majority of the country was still segregated. Only a very small percentage of the population today has that mindset. Yes, this country has had it's issues with race, but to call a country as a whole racist due to the content of one video made in the 40's/50's- am I the only one who sees the irony in that?

  • There are just white people allowed in the audience, no blacks there, you americans are goddammed racists

  • @mattibelg John Lee Hooker was American, he is black, and star of the show in this video surrounded by white people loving his music, that doesn't seem like racism to me, and even if it is a white club, doesn't seem to be bothering John, I never hear people complaining that there are no whites in black clubs, nobody thinks that THEY are racist. I think that neighborhoods back then tended to be mainly black or mainly white, so clubs would have a HUGE bias to the colour of the people living nearby

  • @mattibelg Well, well, well...A German calling Americans "goddamned racists". Why am I getting this funny feeling?....

  • @beeroosterm bwahahahahhahahahahahahahaha you sir are funny :D

  • @beeroosterm don't be an asshole, his country's actions in the past shouldn't determine your attitude towards him. although it is true, the germans are a proud and ruthless race in their general conduct, americans are, too. both of your countries have suffered, and in beerosterm's case, are suffering, severe oppression and misguidance, granted, this happens more discretely in the us

  • @beeroosterm probably because you're an idiot......... we basically wiped out the native americans to get this land. we kill innocent man women and children in arab nations. we are the only nation stupid enough to actually use nuclear weapons. but as an american, am i responsible for any of that? no. do i agree with any of that? no. so why are you trying to put the weight of german actions on one particular german almost 70 years in the future.

  • @5ubstance93 Lighten up, Francis. All I stated was the obvious; I didn't attempt to blame the world's problems on a lone German. Now why don't you go stand in the corner and flagellate yourself like a good masochist? And it wasn't a stupid idea to nuke the Japanese - but that's a different argument...

  • @beeroosterm You think that the most popular european opinion about you guys does not match that one from G'Germans? Now I am getting that funny feeling.

  • @pafotein Then stop rubbing your cock when reading your Nazi propaganda...

  • @beeroosterm Lol. That makes sense. I guess, the more you use the word "cock", the more right you get. What made you think that I am german by the way? The fact that I disagree more with you than with a German guy? That makes even more sense...

  • @pafotein What gives you the idea I think you're German? Since YouTube now hides the poster's country of origin, I have no idea how to be specifically offensive to any given person. That said, Germans are awfully good at following rules...

  • @beeroost why are stereotypes like German = Nazi better, huh? I got some funny feelings, too...

  • @beeroosterm KKK ? Hitler whatever, you both have no life. typin those stupid comments about each other ;)

  • @YFBDxBeats Totally agree

  • @beeroosterm Sniff, sniff... Wait! Smells like.. like stereotype with a hue of narrow mindedness.

Racism can be found all over the world - irrespective of country and skin colour.

(by the way neo-nazis exist in america as well as in germany)

Hey and whats about the KKK?

  • @Teapons Don't fucking care about this. Fuck it - sayonara

  • @mattibelg And yet here you are. You aren't listening to a German musician from that famous German genre of music called, on that famous website Youtube.de, are you?

    I thought not.

  • @mattibelg you are correct man. blacks were often excluded from clubs, even though an all black band was playin' ! Miles Davis was chillin' outside between sets at an exclusively white club in manhattan when two drunk white cops beat him up for being in the wrong hood. Miles went back inside and spewed blood and broken teeth through his horn on his last set!

  • How hip was JLH?

  • Detroit....born and raised..just like me! Rest in peace, John.

  • moved to the D to work at ford, but he love it up there!

  • What can you say.......brilliance never dies

  • mafa 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That's me in the chefs hat at 1:56

  • blues brother number one

  • When the Rolling stones played this anll the fans stood in awe, apparently when john lee hooker played this they just stood there , circa 1964

  • I think he played at the wrong gig here.

  • Not just mind blowing; it's soul blowing...

I love Forever.

  • 1:51 What is with the guy in the chef get up?

  • @Hazakim 22 Hours later and only 16 dislikes, your real smart!

  • @UNITDW if you look, he didn't actually mention "dislikes" - maybe he was talking about 18 totally unrelated people ;p

  • 18 people got no soul.

  • Incredible talent. That does not mean the dancers. What a song and what a performer!

  • I came here from mafia 2 many months ago.

  • NOTHING like GREAT Blues; "The Blues had a Baby and They called it Rock and Roll.".......Yeah, I AM a Rocker. But you MUST give 'Credit', (That's putting VERY Mildly.), Where Credit is DUE !!!

  • Does anydody know who is the bassist? Is it Chuck Rainey?

  • @Viimane I read that a British group called "The Groundhogs" backed John Lee during his '64 UK tour. Not sure what year this is - maybe 64 or maybe a couple years later - but it looks like an British band. Lots of the blues guys picked up a British band to play their European dates back then. Rockers too - Jerry Lee Lewis recorded the awesome Live at the Star Club album with some young Brits backing him. Chuck Rainey's awesome though! BTW, check "Rosetta West -Underground" for raw blues

  • Music is real and alive forever on u tube -- too weird ! keep it flowin' !

  • All those girls you're staring at - are our grandmothers now! HAHA!

  • cant tell if the crowd is trollin or just fucking retarded o.O

  • Why wasnt i born back then??? Why do i have to hear Justin Beaver and LAdy GAga when i walk around??? why God WHYY!???

  • @tanukitejon Man, NOT to worry ! You're comment PROVES your COOL. Plenty of Venues that STILL play 'the Good Stuff'. As far as 'Walking around" goes; DAMN, there's ALL kind of BS we have to deal with nowadays. But we CAN 'compensate' by CHOOSING what we PERSONALLY listen to. BTW, I AM one of the 'Lucky Ones'. Born in 1952 and began REALLY listening at the ripe old age of 4..........;-)

  • @Ramusiewicz I'm with you, Ram, born in 1955, was 7 when I first heard "He's a Rebel", by the Crystals. Then came "Da Doo Ron Ron"...and I never looked back. A lot of trash that they call music out there today. Glad I came up when I did....Spector & Motown, and a whole shitload of Blues for this old Chicago Boy, YEAH!!!!

  • @MACJO63 Those were VERY Cool Tunes; i.e. "He's a Rebel" & Da Doo Ron Ron" ! PLUS Spector & Motown; Man, I STILL Have ALL my 'Stuff' that Get's Played ALL the Time. Gotta say I'm Definitely Envious of Your being a "Chicago Boy" and having Been around THERE back then. I'm Born & Bred from Boston, Still Here, and Worked 'The Scene' during "The Boston Rock Explosion". Also, quite a Few VERY Good Blues Artists here. Although NOBODY that touches The Chicago Fathers......

  • @tanukitejon you do not have to hear them!!

  • @gege2254 well, imagine you ente a dept store and BAby bAby comes through the loudspeakers...

  • @tanukitejon Why does everyone say this? Why not be thankful for the fact you CAN listen to this kind of music?!

  • @tanukitejon dude i ask myself that question everytime I hear new music today

  • @tanukitejon I feel that hearing that awful "music" just helps me appreciate the good stuff even more.

  • @tanukitejon Look at it this way, were you born when this came out you would see how far we've fallen. Blues ain't nothing but the music of good men and women facing bad times. That's why it always fits.

  • @tanukitejon when, lord?!? WHEN'S GON' BE MY TIME?!?!?

  • @tanukitejon Blues revival needs to happen like NOW

  • @STIYE101 Buy Eric Clapton's "Me and Mr Johnson"

  • @GilliesGord I need to look into it! I'm a big George Harrison fan, and I know George Harrison was a big Eric Clapton fan

  • @STIYE101 already has man, listen to the black keys or the white stripes

  • @ColtyRamone Love both those band ^^

  • @STIYE101 yeah man theyre good bands. rock on dude

  • @STIYE101 It never died in N.O. or places like Clarksdale,Miss.

  • @tanukitejon i often wonder the same things, but don't worry cause i feel your pain as well.

  • @tanukitejon If you want music like this, you can go on iTunes and download it, or be on youtube, or perhaps make it yourself, yes, i also think the music today sucks. But, that's the evolution of music, there's going to be different kinds in every different generation

  • @tanukitejon You don't have to you dummy! Listen to this - and whatever else you wan't and stop complainin about JB an LG and the rest. Instead of whining whining about this nobody's like the rest of them bitches on YT under each video of great music doesn't make you original - and pleas realize how so much better the 21'st century is than the early-mid 20'th
